  1. Easy there.....I'm already fixed.
  2. I keep saying that when we no longer have Jenny (our Lab) we won't get another dog. It's been almost 30 years straight with my dogs and I don't know if I have the patients in me for training another and all the other things that go with dog ownership. Then tonight I'm out front with Jenny and she is doing her business one last time for the evening. It was dark and Jenny was standing right out by the road, staring at a shadowy figure on the other sidewalk. I could see what looked to be a small dog, maybe a puppy. It was white-ish colored and had an arrow straight tail. The handler and dog were staring back at Jenny........I spoke loudly, "hello, is that a lab puppy?" the person across the street said "no, a golden retriever puppy". I said "come on over!!" Almost 13 year old Jenny played with 9 week old "River" for 15 minutes! The lady walking the pup was real nice. I asked if she'd mind if I grabbed my wife from inside to come out and see the new pooch, she of course had no problem with that. My wife is (was) dead set against another dog but that may have changed tonight! What a beautiful looking dog, real light colored, BIG paws, great head and tail. The two dogs were great together. We look forward to seeing River again.
  3. Ya, like me and your brother. Probably lots more connections out there than we know....................................
  4. Taco Tim called me and said he got over to see you today, he said you were busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Post up some pics if you can when your buddy finishes the wing bone call.
  5. Probably not far from the railroad tracks. Heck I've heard of black bear being spotted in the city via the tracks! Cool pics.....
  6. I'm going to do some digging around in the freezer for some appropriate venison cuts. Probably won't get to it until Monday night but the seed is planted........
  7. BARRR!! When I walk the woods while turkey hunting I find myself purposely heading to stream beds and low wet spots, always hoping to see a bear track in the mud. All though I've seen tracks in the snow (once) in Ontario County and had one on the trail cam, I'll be thrilled to see a track. Not sure why, just one of those things to put in the vault of memories...............
  8. That's funny. I've done the same thing but differently before. Think about doing something and forget that I've already done it. Getting old ain't pretty...........
  9. Congrats! The only retire I'll be doing is on the Tacoma..............................................
  10. What is on the schedule for your Birthday? Hope you have a great day with family & friends! Maybe you'll get a new big bore rifle as a gift??
  11. We got squat today here........... Oh well, slow growing grass isn't the worst thing. Pity the farmers though.
  12. Thanks for the replies. (and humor!)
  13. Three years in a row: 1993, 1994 and 1995 (I could be off a year at the start) I had encounters in Pennsylvania with bears while hunting spring gobblers. Once from the truck on a desolate two-track road, once on top of a mountain why hunting mid morning and another in the PITCH dark on the way up to the top of the mountain. That time in the darkness was no fun, serious business ensued. Momma sent the cubs (little fur balls maybe 40lbs???) up a pine tree then she circled around in the stillness, trying to get my sent. She eventually did and high tailed it far enough away as I tried to decide what I wanted to do. The cubs bawled for quite awhile but stayed in the tree. After a few minutes I figured I'd beat feet back down the hill and go hunt the other side of the valley. My plan worked, I killed a jake an hour or so later. When I got back down to the truck I could still hear those cubs crying............way to much action for me. I'd rather have a close up with a bear than a rattlesnake though................
  14. Growie.......If it makes you feel better, I can just about guarantee more than one coon has sat down or walked through my dung before. Oh and they DON'T have Dawn, Lava or hot water tanks.......IIRC they just lick their paws.
  15. Lots of decent choices out there. phade is the resident expert........listen close to his advice.
  16. Sure is dry around here (south of you by 30 miles) but I think some rain is coming.
  17. That's about what we are looking for, either a Civic or Corolla. The air bags have me spooked.....
  18. Who's driving around with one in their car or a family members? Would you buy a used car for a family member if it had a Takata Air Bag? There's millions of them out there and they are STILL putting them in new cars. It'll take forever to get them all pulled and replaced in the existing applications.
  19. Two things.........Back in the 80's and 90's I had a PA pistol permit. IIRC it was good for 5 years. And, it's too bad the Cheektowaga pistol permit office is ONLY open on Wednesdays. Maybe that will change.......
  20. I was meaning to post that in case others didn't know, good job TF.
  21. We get those 2.5" long ugly bastids in/near the bathroom. My .38 would not be too much gun for those useless creatures.
  22. You know what I don't like? Centipedes................man they are freaky buggers. My buddy called 'em "million leggers"! When I see them, I call my wife.
  23. I resemble that remark............
  24. I don't use it but thanks anyway....................
