No I don't own a place, I stay with my friend who lives in Canadice. Lots of times I just drive down first thing in the morning for hunting then stay a night or three. For spring gobbler I need to be up and out of bed by 3:00am and be on the road by 3:30 to make it by 5am. If I hunt Arcade, I get up at 3:30 to leave by 4-4:10am. Wow what a luxury I can sleep in 30 minutes. Come fall hunting seasons, things get much better even though I have to deal with daylight savings.

I guess I can't complain.......today was my 7th day hunting and I've worked birds 5/7 days and only had one day that I didn't hear anything. My biggest complaint is the wake up call from the front desk when I hunt Canadice. Then there's the hills............................ Arcade is pancake flat compared to Canadice.

Hey old timer how's your day looking, any big plans you can divulge?? Regardless, have a Happy Birthday!!

I hunted Arcade this morning. Worked a bird for thirty minutes.....he was probably 125 yards or so away, JUST over the edge and I was hesitant to get closer. He finally went what seemed like 150 yards further up the ridge and that afforded me the opportunity to move in. im not sure what happened........I wasn't THAT close that he should have heard me but the woods are especially dry right now there and he clammed up. Probably 5 minutes later he gobbled way down the valley. I crow called and he'd gobble every time. He refused my hen calls and last I heard him he'd crossed the hardtop road and was a good 600 yards away. Good times!!

2012_taco called me this afternoon and I said we should just sell our guns and buy some good clubs.

I'd LOVE to but I have a date to kill a gobbler in the morning. We need to visit my friend Jay at the Golf Dome on Wherle. He hunts turkey also but will hook us up with some free range time as I think he is getting burned out too...............................

Always good to hear (play on words NOT intended but a bonus) of good customer service. My father just had a 18 year old bathtub go belly up. The company, American Standard is sending a new bathtub to him next week, gratis. It has a lifetime warranty and they made good on it. The bad thing will be the repairs to the tile surround, tile floor and new faucet and controls. Oh............and the kitchen ceiling.

Air gunners, grab it while you can

Well, what do you think of it? And...why did you pick that gun? I know it's a PCP and they are quieter than a springer, that part of the decision making process? -
Spoken like a true wild man! If I'd have got one of these as a teenager I'm sure it would have meant a trip or three to the ER. Lord knows there were some close calls.......... If you're ever going down Millersport Highway in Amherst, note the ditch on the north west side on the road, just north of New Rd. IIRC there is a billboard right there, just south of the dog kennels. I ALMOST bought the farm there one night. Good times.

Post up some pics!!

BTDT..................A busted ankle or leg is inevitable, road rash too.

I don't think you can.........but don't bet big money on it. They can be VERY dangerous although I survived 25+ years riding one. In 1986 I bought a new Honda Big Red, she was a grand machine and to this day it is owned by a fellow in Naples, NY. I had some great times on it but also some damned close calls. Make sure your son isn't riding like a wild man (yea sure, like he's really going top listen to dad!) or he'll end up in trouble. That said, what'd he buy and can I come over and take a spin??

Great bird, congrats!

Holy Kielbasa............You better stoke up that forge and crank out some knives!!!!

I "worked" three gobblers in the past two days. All three gobbled to my crow call numerous times over the course of our time together. Many, many times I've located birds by the crow call as that is my usual first call when jumping out of the truck or if I'm in a bad position and don't want to use a hen call and find out a bird is close and I can't move. This is when a crow call is a huge plus because he isn't going to come running in to that. Once I have a gobbler located I use the crow call to check on his movement so as to NOT over use a hen call. Once I know where he is I can tweak my strategy and MAYBE kill the bastid....... And no, it hasn't worked as planned this year for one reason or another. I've had some very close encounters and haven't sealed the deal as of today. I've been plagued with some foot issues and have been in a fair amount of discomfort.........lousy excuse I know! Dan are you using the Faulk's?
-
To be honest, if you told me I couldn't use my crow call I probably wouldn't hunt.

Nice mount!! Was that killed at dad's place or somewhere else? On a similar but different note, I hunted up by your father's today. Nice to get up in the old stomping grounds where I killed my first buck in 1980. You know the area, we've talked before.

What'd you get and from who?? -
The gist of the thread ISN'T the internet service, it's the FAFSA. That said, yes, I can get FIOS but I don't dig Verizon. That just leaves Time Warner.............and it sounds like most people hate them too.

A private individual can (I'll be doing it tomorrow, as I already stated) ship any long gun they want as long as it's going to an FFL. All you need is a copy of the FFL's license in your possession. USPS Priority Mai is what I use. IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE SHIPPED BY AN FFL!!!!!
