  1. A nice piece by Richard Mann............. https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2011/1/11/conetrol-scope-mounts/
  2. I've had a couple sets of Conetrol Mounts. I just looked and the instructions are gone...... That said, IIRC they are machined to be a single unit, meaning that the rings and caps are to stay with their sister parts. The bases can be interchanged. It can be somewhat of a cluster getting them properly installed but not insurmountably impossible. I believe there is a groove in the inside of the cap and on the top of a ring, they are supposed to match up I believe. Put the rings around the scope body, set the caps on then drop them into the bases. The "coned" Allen head screws are backed out enough to allow the bases to set in place prior to setting the rings in. Now, gently screw the cone head set screws in as evenly as possible. Snug them up good and bang away! If, for some reason you don't have enough windage adjustment in your scope, you can mess with the cone head screws to give you more adjustment. Clear as mud? I always thought they were great, exceptionally well made pieces. I had them on my Remington 700 BDL and KS guns. Now most everything is Talley for me but I did put a set of Leupold Dual Dovetail (plug for mourning doves there) mounts on dad's Kimber Montana last year, very nice too.
  3. Great pics and story Dan. I love the spots and coloring, talk about camouflage !
  4. Ha! That's pretty cool.
  5. How is the battery? The others could be correct that it is the starter but a battery low on juice could be just barely moving the gear to the engagement point............. I find it extremely hard to believe that starter has gone titsup in three years. Hope not.......
  6. Oh cut it out, you know who he is. You ain't THAT young.........
  7. Wait, is THAT a dove? Well done DT.........
  8. Bob Villa stop by to cut the boards to the correct length? Good job Bizzy.
  9. That guy looks like AG? Did they kill the bird at your place G-Man? Congrats!!
  10. I pulled up to a red light today and I thought Cheech & Chong were in the car next to me.........holy cow what a smoke show! Not sure how they could drive. You only Maple Rd today wooly?
  11. Hunter Safety Card!! Well done young lady........Youth hunt next year?
  12. Yea but when the lucky guy that picks it up at the curb realizes what he just got he'll probably toss it out on the side of the road. It'll be road trash like all the TV's.......
  13. Front wheel hubs (4 or 5 IIRC), FULL brake job (3 times) including 4 rotors and pads all the way around, window motors (I got to be real good at them), fuel line, wiper motor etc.... Then the topper...........I was within $500 of making a deal with a stubborn Toyota dealer in Batavia but we couldn't agree on MY number. I left there and drove home, as I backed into the driveway I looked in the street in front of me and saw a heavy blood trail. WTH??????? Cracked transfer case.......$800 for towing and repair. $#%@ N A man! Granted, some of the wheel bearing hubs and the first brake job were covered by GM but most was on my dime.
  14. Luck to you and Gator, Dan. Shoot straight!
  15. I bought my Tacoma new in 2011 for two reasons: 1) Resale 2) Reliability IIRC it has about 74,000 on it. All I've done since driving it off the lot is one set of tires, oil (synthetic) changes and some washer solvent. That's it.............. You just wouldn't believe what I put into my 2002 Silverado in the 9 years I owned it. Disgusting! Oh yea, my FIL is a retired GM employee and I could have got a new Silverado for considerably less than what I gave for the Tacoma. My resale right now is tremendous, thank you. Today we have three Toyota vehicles in our family. (Did I mention the Colorado is a VERY cool looking truck?)
  16. I'm going to pass the hat to fund uploading classes when we go for chicken & biscuits.....
  17. Benelli SBE and a couple birds from a few years ago. It's been good to me when I do MY part.........
  18. Good luck to you and Skillet with your children on the Youth Hunt!
  19. Your last question might be best answered by your attorney. Start there......... Then, the value of the timber has to be assessed before the rest of your questions can be answered.
  20. Dan........You should be able to watch it "online" at some point. Preview and more information here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/nature/wild-ways.html
