  1. 2 weeks is a long time when you consider most of the state has been shut down for like 6. That's a 1/3 of what we've already gone through. There does appear to be a strong correlation with temp and weather, and while it's still too f'n cold here. I'd like to see them let a few businesses open next week with some of the same rules other states are following. Or in the very least let us open regionally in parts of the state where we don't have the issues NYC does.
  2. i mean we've tried protesting and stuff without success. I dislike them too, in fact it was one of the reason I moved out of the state. All we can do is vote or stage a coup... and i'm just too tired and busy for the later.
  3. i was trying to explain why they would let a distributor ship them and not ship them directly themselves. win win for them minus whatever percentage a distributor takes off the top or discount for buying in bulk etc.
  4. makes a shit ton of sense. Let me introduce you to the corporate world, where it's all about money and liability.
  5. what child of the outdoors doesn't eat wild raspberries and blackberries!?
  6. it's possible my location just didn't do well, I remember my house in buffalo the blueberries did ok, but they were in a spot that got sun all day long. Obviously sun all day is good for any fruiting plant, but the my current 2 bushes still get sun 75% of the time and just haven't done well. maybe i was the lucky bastard who got 2 females. iirc blueberries need pairs too. i could be wrong on that though.
  7. yeah i guess that's what I meant. bang for buck. we did some blueberries up north without a lot of success, but they were awesome when we lived down south.
  8. just dont expect grocery store quality. IDK but they've always been hard for me to grow in any quantity that makes it worth the space.
  9. dont even mess with trying to get cute your first few years. Just wash your veggies off. I use miracle grow and seven. And usually only spray seven twice, if that. This year we're starting to compost, but it's not going to be anything we use early on obviously. Start small, and make it easy. I wouldn't bother with plastic weed barriers and stuff either. And also I'd recommend some seed starter trays, they're not necessary but our first 2 gardens weren't beds and we didn't know our shit. Weren't sure what was a weed sprouting in some cases haha. The pods make it easier, especially for the tougher plants like peppers.
  10. we're starting our own compost this year. bought a standard 65 gallon bin thing from lowes, will be interesting to see how well it does keeping critters out.
  11. well even with covering my plants the last few nights, i'm pretty sure they're all dead except maybe the corn, beans maybe and possibly squash. Cukes pop up pretty quick, so not worried about restarting those.
  12. i do think they recommend letting it dry though, not just for smell, but part of the process? can't remember for sure.
  13. Just a friendly reminder as we near 1 week to go, spray the outside of all your turkey gear, pants, jackets, boots and socks and let the stinky bastards hang for a week in your garage. I've been spraying for the last 5 or 6 years now and I've been tick free ever since! https://sawyer.com/products/permethrin-insect-repellent-treatment/
  14. wear what you want, run what ya brung. I just don't think anyone cares. There's a lot of bigger issues in the world right now and the blame game from either side is nauseating.
  15. i checked, against my better judgment. -18%YTD... I'm heavily in stocks at my age. ugh.
  16. he's filling the papist void
  17. when i get up super early to deer or turkey hunt I usually don't brush my teeth until I get home as I'm chugging coffee in the truck. Man that breath being funneled up to my nose by my mask is not ideal haha
  18. it doesn't. It prevents the wearer who may have the virus from spreading it via water droplets to surfaces. The droplets are then spread from someone touching the surface and then touching their nose, eyes or mouth (hence wash your hands). The user is not 100% protected (like an n95), but it does help. If a bunch of asymptomatic people are roaming walmart, they aren't spreading it, which keeps you safer. I'm not sure why this is such a difficult concept and why you are challenging every doctor, health and safety professional and scientist. Why?
  19. bahaha what a tool. Like the video where he shows how to make your own? your move https://abcnews4.com/news/nation-world/video-us-surgeon-general-makes-a-face-mask-in-a-few-easy-steps
  20. all I have to see is a link to westernjournal and I do the same thing i do when I see a link to commondreams or motherjones. hard pass
