  1. Even having a basement isn’t that common and many would rather live paycheck to paycheck and have other things then save. Of course this doesn’t apply to the less fortunate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. on a more serious note, i'm an advocate for more people getting outdoors and for more hunters. But selfishly, I think we all also like being the only guy in the woods. I'd be curious what this will do for public land hunters. I don't suspect more hunters, but you may def see more hikers, bikers and mushroom pickers... that would sure suck to have a beard dragger coming in only to get spooked by some guy with a man bun and skinny jeans crying about a pricker bush.
  3. It's more like Matthews vs everyone. You know, because of the haters
  4. i subscribe to mint.com. Totally free service and allows me to see all the transactions for all my accounts easily in one place. Plus budget and see trends etc. PS the wife doesn't need to know what I spend on hunting. Anyhow the 401k is linked to it and it's unavoidable... and it's also everything you fear it would be.
  5. except in LI where they'll still call you a murderer
  6. you still have fish? Even vac sealed I go for <6 months for fish. Red meat can go almost 2 years but it never makes it past a year for us.
  7. truthfully, i look forward to may 1, far more than 10/1. turkey starts with a bang and gets worse, deer starts slow then peeks and fades again. The concentrated 31 days of turkey is great and it's finally starting to warm up and the woods are awake vs dying.
  8. i've seen this title about 3 or 4 times now and my brain keeps reading it wrong

  10. dilute isn't the right word choice here. A true mortality rate must consider those with mild cases and then they would break the numbers down further for demographics. I don't think that was your intent, but it's important to reiterate.
  11. a very small part of me smiles at this with their whole sanctuary nonsense and free spirited bs and renaming of manhole covers. They don't deserve this and I don't wish it upon them. But they live in a fantasy world and while it was already starting to show with their homeless tent cities, this just highlights it. PC is great until shit hits the fan. Now what?
  12. the answer is somewhere in the middle of your post and rob's.
  13. I believe this is season 7 of the walking dead? separate communities with trade? haha
  14. this makes me think I should buy a homebrew kit and stop busting my one buddies balls who does home brew...
  15. I make squirrel wings for my boys quite a bit, and have posted those pics on this site a few times. 4 squirrels in the winter is not as easy as a deer hunter thinks. They're not out and about as much as they are during the fall. Anyhow, I usually still manage 2 to 4 a trip if I'm really trying and not just "hiking with a .22", which is usually what I am doing. Those 4 skinned and quartered in a fryer will provide a decent meal for me, the wife and 3 boys. But if those boys were grown, 4 would not be enough for sure. The best I ever did was 6 and the conditions were just perfect. Sure, I could shoot em off a bird feeder or something, but once you start actively pursuing those tree rats and not just "noticing that they're everywhere" you might be surprised is all i'm saying. And then in the end I hiked all day and provided a single meal. A deer might take as much or less energy and provide numerous meals. Same issue can apply to small lake fishing vs going out and hammering the kings. The effort vs reward is tough.
  16. like zombie apocalypse man? There are no rules. I'd blow up a school to save my children and I'm not sorry about that. On a less serious note, if I really could not find food, I'd imagine I'd spotlight. Why make it hard if the only goal is meat?
  17. meat is no good huh? You're just on a roll man.
  18. i believe the stores will bounce back quickly when the panic buying slows. I went to palmers (a local meat market) last night that isn't as well known or hit hard like wegmans and even they were running low. It's hard not to get a little nervous.
  19. jokes aside, worst case scenario you may have a shit ton of money in the bank and that wont matter right? A mcmansion and sitka gear, but if there is no meat on the shelves, what does it matter?
  20. it's not the warm weather part, it's the open doors and windows and fresh air. Many viruses are volatilized as people sneeze and cough and then sit on surfaces to die, or get picked up by someones hands and then placed into their eye, nose or mouth. That's why they say to wash your GD hands. With the windows and doors open and people outside, the air isn't recirculating the same nasty infected stuff and the fresh air is clean. Additionally, we're all fighting the seasonal cold which is just another way for corona to travel. If you want to spread panic, it's the concern that allergies make people cough and sneeze
