this thread would be remiss without a few organizations that aren't species specific and are out there fighting the good fight against those listed by steve https://www.sportsmensalliance.org/ https://www.backcountryhunters.org/ don't just "boycott" the bad. Support the good. NWTF, Rockymoutain elk foundation, wild sheep foundation and numerous fish organizations are all pretty good too for species specific groups.

I don't donate to the aspca, however after research and listening to a few podcasts on these organizations the general takeaway was that this is their stance, but they don't actively campaign or go after hunters like the Humane societey and peta.

Is it impolite to shoot your nieces pit bull ?

it's a combination of factors. Some breeds are inherently more aggressive and built differently so that their bite is worse than others. A pit gets its name from being bred to fight other dogs in a pit. Retrievers were bread with soft mouths and good temperament to retrieve game. Little wiener dogs were bred to hunt vermin in small holes. My parents wiener dog is a nasty little shit, but he's like 10 pounds so it's not as scary as my cousins 100+ pound all black Shepard. Throw the owners into the equation and many people will buy a pit because it's a pit. They like how they look, they like that they're mean and scary. And yes, there is a demographic of lower middle class and poor urban folks who gravitate towards these dogs for cultural reasons or whatever and they often become abused and mistreated and neglected. We can all reflect on some really nice pits we've meant. I have a dozen or so that are harmless lovable dogs. I've also met some nasty mean as shit labs. There are exceptions to every rule. I'll never go and call for a ban on a dog breed like some here. But generally speaking I'm not a fan of pits and would not trust my kids around them just the same as I dont trust them around my cousins Shepard. -

yeah a bite from a terrier is one thing. a bite from a pit with a locking jaw is another. not all bites are created equal. -

Cordless Electric garden tools don't always suck .

started browsing this morning. my current gas powered pole saw is 7', loud and heavy. Looks like 9' is about as long as you can get for battery powered. that extra 2' would be nice and so would the convenience. Just not sure if it's a couple hundred dollars nice... -
i think. but you undoubtedly have a local humane society as well and they have no affiliation with "The Humane Society". So if some cat lady wants $20 to help feed some stray cats, you can be assured you're not donating to an anti-hunting group. However, of course it should be noted that the local group may also be anti-hunting... but generally they're running on shoe string budgets and just trying to feed and shelter as many strays that they can.

I have pole saw attachment for my troybilt gas trimmer that I really like for around the house, but I can imagine in the woods that battery powered version would be a lot less weight and pretty sweet. generally the ole manual pole saw is what we need to get those branches way up anyhow. -

i have a cordless craftsman hedge trimmer and leaf blower. the trimmer is great and the leaf blower is solid for paved surfaces and quick little jobs like blowing off the deck or garage. i'm not so sure I'd go battery for chainsaw or anything where real power is needed. -
it should be noted that The Humane Society, or "The Big H" is not affiliated with your local humane society. Giving to them to help support shelters does not send money to the federal version by the same name and that the Big H is the largest anti-hunting group there is. they outdo Peta

my sister just had a similar experience in the city of rochester where she lives. walking her fluffy little pomapoo or whatever and a group of college kids have a pit that basically busted through a fence to get her dog in its mouth but for the grace of god stopped. animal control was called again apparently on this dog but now she feels weird because the house with 6 african american college males know it was her who called. She's single btw. sometimes there's no winning. -

this is the right approach. A lot of people act like calling animal control on family is no big deal, when it very much is. I think, as others have said, the biggest concern is that taking action now might prevent tragedy later. And unfortunately it doesn't surprise me that someone who is unapologetic about their dog, would allow a dog like this to be around a newborn in the first place. Hope the baby daddy situation is a good one -
i read through and lurk on archerytalk, and it's a lot worse than that. Some guys buy multiple bows from various manufacturers each year and shoot them all and settle on one and sell the others. I'm sure there's not a huge loss, but there is a loss and it amazes me.

i've never owned or operated one, but they do seem like great rifles, and if the quality is anything like my kimber 1911 I imagine they are. Just could never justify the cost for what little amount of time I spend with a rifle. -
they're both wrong! haha

first thing I thought of too. ekkkk

I fell in love with this gun after playing medal of honor on playstation as a kid haha. There's just something about the ping at the end of the (clip?) the garand is a clip right? It's on my list of guns to own some day.
