  1. can you really be positive that it didn't close up on exit somehow?
  2. reading this after my post above lol One belo is 30 years of fixed only and the other is 15 years of mechanicals only
  3. falls into the category of "you can't go wrong" for me. Personally I shoot rage mechanicals and have for 15 years and haven't lost a deer yet. I like the extra wide cutting pattern as not all shots are perfect and even a few spines have been fatal. They fly right for me and that's really all there is too it. Yes the downfall is that it's one more thing to go wrong, but the latest generations have improved with features to limit this. I will add this about your post. If you had a 2.5 mile blood trail... well that's saying something positive too.
  4. my first attempt at ribs using the 3-2-1. Got a late start so I shortened the 2 and as a result they weren't as fall off the bone as I'd like, but the whole family and extended family loved them.
  5. Finally got in the woods Friday as the weather was a little cooler and took down the turkey blind. Replaced a stand with a more comfy one and added a ladder stick to another tall stand for a safer and easier climb. Given the shade and soil, i guess my clover is doing ok still. Will probably still try my remaining throw and grow seed in the fall as well. It's not nearly enough to attract the deer, but with the east and west side fields not having corn this year, maybe it'll stop them. and that's all it takes.
  6. Anybody find any good deals? FYI, this sausage stuffer is a heck of a deal if anyone is in the market https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011RN5QN4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. my only criticism of this season is that they just skipped over all the shelter building. In previous seasons you saw them construct cabins and huts and what not. This year they just cut right to these lodges. I always thought that part was interesting.
  8. 800 freaking pounds... that is like 5, 2.5 year old upstate NY bucks...
  9. no. that's not how it works.
  10. i got one of these for my g8 for appearance reasons. Not as needed on the truck, but could solve your issue. I'm sure they make them https://shop.visualgarage.com/products/pontiac-g8-shark-fin-antenna
  11. No spoilers. Just 15 minutes in. Wow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. i see tapatalk is missing, so that's a hard pass
  13. promoting gay marriage does not condemn traditional marriage between man and woman... I don't even disagree with the fact that they're going after and promoting many of those things. I just haven't seen a single politician come out AGAINST marriage. source it for me and prove me wrong.
  14. starters and batteries have come a long way, but the jury on the long term effects and how it will effect a 15 year old truck with 100k miles is still out. The basic math says that it does take some more juice/gas to start the car, but if you're stopped for anytime longer than 15 seconds you're saving fuel and its beneficial. Note that it wont stop if you're blasting heat or air either. You are sort of correct with your conspiracy theory, but it has nothing to do with mechanics, and it's more about the cafe restrictions and manufacturers being required to get more mpg out of their fleet. We could debate this topic too of course, but most outdoorsman should agree that less pollution is a good thing.
  15. not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but another good, but can be expensive idea is to buy items with dual uses. For example, I have a large gerber knife that could be a small machete but also filet a fish. It wouldn't be ideal for either, but saves from carrying both. Also on the knife is a built in compass, bottle/can opener and there's a a removable flint fire starter in the handle. I have backup for some of these things as well, but when you're really talking about day trip survival and not "pack the kids up and drive" type survival, you'll be regretting the extra weight quickly. Lots of food prep equipment can be handled this way too with things like multi-tool style cutlery and filtering straws that can be reused over and over. also not sure if i saw this, but I keep 2 items that are battery powered with hand crank backups. A weather/fm/am radio that i keep charged, but also can charge via solar and hand crank. It auto-tunes to emergency channels. And a similar style hand crank flashlight. I of course have a nice led battery flashlight, but the hand crank is a solid option. As a type this, I should check to see if i can find a handcrank battery charger for rechargeable double A's. That might be even more efficient.
  16. i'm glad to see you posting. i was a little worried it was our resident pygmy.
  17. they blast and recirc the air in the summer if you have an auto thermostat. Quick psa that is a weird pet peeve of mine. Most modern cars have climate control. It always confuses me when i see people hop in and crank them to hot or cold. It's a thermostat. Set it at 72 and leave it alone all year. The car will automatically work as hard as it can to get to that temp as quick as it can, and then it'll back off and keep it there. This still confuses people so I'll use the analogy like this. When you get home and the house is a little chilly do you turn the thermostat to 90 or do you just bump it up a couple degrees? Exactly. ps. some cars, GM specifically have a cool feature where if you hold unlock on your keyfob all 4 windows will roll down. This is huge in the summer to let some of the hot air out quick. some cars need the setting turned on. it probably doesn't do a whole lot for us upstaters, but anyone who drives in stop and go city traffic will see a good benefit, and so will the earth. it all adds up, no matter how little. first thing I did was google how to disable it. by day 3 i was used to it and have only turned it off when i'm in that weird stop and kinda go traffic during rush hour. the cabins are so insulated and the engines so smooth that you really do hardly notice, especially if jamming.
  18. the left wing media is trying to bring down marriage?
  19. this is cool to learn here's their list for quick reference https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/feeds/state_reg/new_york_restrictions.pdf
  20. yeah i'm not talking about those that compete. but those that actively are expected to compete for the title each year. ie england, france, germany, spain, italy, china, japan etc. I rarely see bosnia and the congo with high betting odds. that was my point.
  21. how many 3rd world countries are actively competing for the championship though?
  22. so this feature used to be free. then gm realized they're losing so much money on onstar that in 2018 and going forward you need to f'n pay for it. So dumb. I loved not remembering if I locked my truck and just doing it on my phone...
  23. so do the new silverados and most other makes and models. there's a button to disable it, but you need to disable it every start. You can buy a device for $80 to permanently disable it. Honestly, it's annoying at first but you get used to it.
  24. while you're not wrong with your first point, the best soccer competition comes out out of Europe and south america and Europe certainly isn't lagging in woman's rights.
