  1. all good points. I think the basis for this discussion is the fact that weed would be legal at the state level, whereas DWI is a crime. I get your point though.
  2. you make an excellent point. Society strives after measuring success. I doubt there's a member on this board with a job who isn't measured against some set of standards. Hell even our spouses do it to us lol. So it's natural that hunters started scoring racks and talking more about age and difficulty. It's a "sport" so there has to be a measurement on who is the MJ of hunting. And as most of us agree, that is impossible to do for hunting and what makes it so great. We started to lose our way with this and I think it's coming back around a little with the farm to table movement.
  3. I think it can be both. I have goals for everything in life. Some I slave after and others are just a target. Ones goal can be "get into the woods and just be happy to see deer". So I can have a goal of a 3.5 with a desire to at least shoot a 2.5 and an expectation to at lest put 2 deer in the freezer. If I fail on the first 2, I'm still good. If I fail on the last I'm pretty bummed.
  4. I don't smoke weed either. I could pass a piss test right now. The whole argument for me is that most of us hunters lean libertarian. What one man or woman decides to grow and put in their body should be nobodies business but theirs. There are a lot of gun owners in this state and I agree that they're targeting us, but there usually is more to the story than a prescription for zollof. I will add that erie county is notorious for shitty gun rights. I started my permit journey there. Took my safety class and everything and even then I knew I would most likely not get a cc. Thankfully I moved to wayne by the time I got around to purchasing my pistol and it went smooth from there. Of course after I got my 4 non-relative signatures who live in wayne, fingerprinted, photo taken, $100+ fee, a cop visited my house and a judge approved it. In Mississippi you go to the DMV lol.
  5. sounds plausible and I don't expect it's impossible. First I've heard someone lose their permit though. The skeptic in me expects there's more to the story, but your point is fair. I'm assuming also he didn't lose his long guns.
  6. What level of possession though? Big difference when intent to sell is thrown in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. i do have actual evidence though. Did the guy in Amherst lose his guns for smoking pot? lets stick to the subject. For that matter have any of you ever heard of someone getting caught with weed (a misdemeanor) and losing their guns?
  8. the weekend weather has been crap for getting this stuff done. Saturday looks good though so I'm going to wing it and pray lol.
  9. i see the issue. I don't think it will lead to a gun grab. We're applying the issue to a topic that is near and dear to our hearts, when in fact the federal vs state legality of the issue takes place at a much higher level and has numerous ramification, not just firearm possession. And there is no proof other than some guys calling a radio show apparently that it has happened in NY or in any of the states that have already legalized it.
  10. exactly. this statement is not debatable. Guess who is less likely to grab a gun out of anger though?
  11. the red flag is independent of this potential law, and my point is that people are pointing to "what ifs" with no proof, while i have proof of the opposite. it's like some of you dont even understand how legal pot works. It's still a federal crime regardless of what the state says. Your employer can still fire you for testing positive too btw. Do you see the FBI raiding these states and locking up pot smokers for federal possession? Has Trump publicly come out and said he is looking at decriminalizing it? Is our Government very preoccupied with much more important issues?
  12. i should clarify. I know I have duellers, but not sure what version.
  13. none of these conditions would be cause for you to lose your right to exercise your second amendment rights You may be eligible for medical marijuana if you have been diagnosed with one or more of the following severe debilitating or life threatening conditions: cancer, HIV infection or AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury with spasticity, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathy, Huntington's disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain (as defined by 10 NYCRR §1004.2(a)(8)(xi)), pain that degrades health and functional capability as an alternative to opioid use or substance use disorder. The severe debilitating or life-threatening condition must also be accompanied by one or more of the following associated or complicating conditions: cachexia or wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, or severe or persistent muscle spasms, PTSD or opioid use disorder.
  14. not sure what's on my 16 silverado, but the mileage and wear is good so far at under 20k and the traction is great and noise almost nonexistent. but yeah they're not cheap.
  15. i've licked my wife's ass and lived to tell about it. I'm good.
  16. there is soooo much wrong with this video. he provides zero facts to back up the fear mongering. This has happened in NONE of the other states including CALIFORNIA, there is no approval for weed in the budget and furthermore nothing about a database. You know what there is a database for? Medical weed. You know who is on that list and owns a gun and has lost their guns? Nobody. On top of that, providing proof of age is the same thing you do with cigs and beer. Finally, he makes a blatant fear statement that you will lose your guns because it's a controlled substance. How? Why? What proof? tobacco and alcohol are controlled and here I am with my guns. just stop.
  17. deep down in your soul, you know exactly what to do
  18. i understand the reason behind it. Just not sure if it's the right thing to do. I started hunting at 16 despite a family of archers, mostly because I was heavily involved with sports and school and girls. My old man didn't want me to enter the archery woods unless I was prepared and I just didn't have the time. I waited till sophomore year in college to buy my bow. Again, I'm not saying that 12 year old girls shouldn't have the chance to bow hunt, but I'm worried about the xbow being their first experience and how that bodes for the future of archery.
  19. i wash my hands before I eat and I wash my veggies. I also don't think the ban applies to produce bags. On top of all that, throwing your grocery bags in the wash with your towels once a week or 2 isn't going to kill ya.
  20. there's a good facebook group for this bad boy. Only complaints I've heard so far is that the stickers are hard to get off and the rubber on the nobs is cheap. Otherwise for the price you can't beat it. I've been waiting for it to get warm enough to assemble and I'm hoping this weekend will be it. I've also read that you need a legit extension cord that's the correct gauge or it causes issues with the smoker. First thing I'm doing is finally making some snack sticks the right way haha.
  21. so you're under the impression that we will be dumping our mixed nuts and uncovered loose meat in a canvas bag. Come on man.
  22. you guys buy meat? wolc would not approve.
