  1. Sometimes though you need all the space you can get haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. it's been real windy. chances are you would never been in the stand in the conditions that caused it to go. We've had a few pines topple in wind storms usually ruining a few ladder sticks in the process. Have also removed some stands from some trees that are still standing, but did not inspire confidence. The main thing is this. Is there a good tree nearby?
  3. man you contradict yourself in that statement. I do know what you mean, but it's precisely the issue at hand. Where's the line and who gets to draw it?
  4. yeah i commute all winter in my silverado. I do zero truck stuff in it haha. And in the summer I drive my pontiac. But I do take a few fishing trips a year and one is to northern quebec. You're not getting to this place in a ridgeline and really do need a z71. It's rough enough that my dad had to replace his skid plate one year. So for me, I don't really need need a full-size either, but I do occasionally need it and it comes in handy. Pickups in general are needed for me though. I'm not putting a dead deer in my suv or buying a cart. I need it for when we head up north to the daks and in the spring for mulch or lugging food plot stuff around. Heck, I was driving home this friday and saw a local landscaping company had a bunch of free pallets stacked by the road, to which I need a few for my wood pile. Couldn't have grabbed those without the truck. So point is. All trucks good. Full size z71? Probably not needed by most haha.
  5. just out of curiosity since you didn't really state it. What formed your opinion of steve?
  6. Like I said earlier, you can like a guy and their views, without slurping up everything they do and say. It's good for us to be individuals. I draw the line with eating nuts
  7. well it started out good for me thursday. Total dumpster fire since then though.
  8. you're right, but the NYCC that everyone leg humps on this board is pushing for no restrictions. So pick your poison...
  9. I bet something like 60% of pickup drivers don't ever use their truck to tow or haul, and rarely do anything that really requires the specs. The ridgeline fits the niche of that guy who wants the cargo capacity, but will never really need a truck for what it's designed for. I was looking at tacos and frontiers and then realized the fuel efficiency really wasn't all that much better and went fullsize and I'm glad I did because I use the heck out of my bed, but only a few times have I really needed the rock crawling capabilities of my silverado.
  10. a 4 cylinder tundra? Do you mean tacoma?
  11. lol, i'm sure you're in some money pools. I just copied my money pool bracket over. It's not that difficult.
  12. that's why I chose my words carefully. And said "struggle" to take that shot. There is a similar discussion though about the compressed organs and your shot placement. I don't think you know much about Rinella at all from this post. And there's a lot to unpack here. First, nobody should ever agree with everything else someone else believes, and I'm mostly speaking to the trumpers on this site. But Rinella got his beginning living dirt poor in Michigan. He became a writer and then a successful producer of a show that was on the sportsman channel and later netflix. He doesn't trophy hunt and spends half the show talking about the landscape and the processing of whatever he killed (if he gets something at all). His show has featured everything from elk to squirrel, beaver trapping and some exotic south american stuff. To put him in a category with some of the tv personalities is unfair. To judge him on just 30 minutes of show is unfair. I've listened to hours, upon hours of his podcast and they are some of the most thoughtful, real, down to earth sportsman you'll ever hear. The whole idea of the scorecard is to rate the impact hunters have on the community. And while you may disagree with it, it's an absolute fact that what this guy did was another blow to our sport. People don't like this kind of thing and it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not. Dudes need to stop sharing their pics and videos and the antis will have less shit to moan about. And if you disagree with that, eventually you'll lose the rights completely. Finally, you're a big game African hunter. The only active one on this board as far as I know, or at least the only one who has done a lot of it. It's clear you're passionate about it and take offense to this topic. Fine, but you need to remember most of us are blue collar whitetail hunters and our biggest dream is to hunt a rocky mountain bull elk. If you have truly done as much African hunting as you claim, you're not hurting for cash. What Steve and the guys argue about when it comes to money is that fundamentally they generally don't believe anyone's bank account should provide them better or exclusive access to a public resource. They are huge proponents of public land access and are the main reason I joined BHA. They also recognize that the majority of conservation money comes from lottery tags from out of state. It's a delicate topic and one they talk at lengths about. I also take personal issue with your "I've taken WAY more game.." who cares man? This isn't a dick measuring contest. You directly contradict your "holier than thou" criticism when you end your post like that. It reads to me that you believe you're better than the guy who shot the sleeping lion and better than Rinella and his group. Isn't that what set you off about the article in the first place? Rinella has never been on the outdoor channel. It should be noted that meat-eater is a brand and that Rinella himself didn't post the article. And honestly... some dudes need to be called out. Should we just ignore the amish guy who was poaching trophy bucks in ohio because he's "another hunter"? How very union of you
  13. https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/big-game/hunter-scandal-assessment-chart-the-sleeping-lion-shooter?utm_campaign=Hunter%20Scandal%20Assessment%20Chart%3A%20The%20Sleeping%20Lion%20Shooter&utm_medium=&utm_source=facebook&utm_content=1553207499 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. my point is simply this. "What is legal is not always ethical". and the whole "as long as its legal, who cares" argument has never sat well with me.
  15. respectfully disagree. If I break the law to save a life I will sleep better at night than letting a life be taken because I had to follow the law. ie NY not having a castle doctrine.
  16. this isn't a bad thing for us consumers i thought it was obvious, but because sometimes it's not on this place, I was just having fun. Nothing like a nice chevy vs ford friendly ribbing. except for m00g. I hear that guy has carpet on his bed and in no world is that ok.
  17. Hey now, that’s just mean haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. you speak like ford is without their issues
  19. we all throw out the "as long as it's legal" line a lot. But honestly there are a lot of legal acts that are immoral and a lot of illegal acts that would be ethical. I know where you're coming from with these statements, but just because it's on a piece of paper that some politician blessed, doesn't make it right. edit to say this statement is independent of the sleeping lion scenario, just a general comment.
  20. bunch of social media articles on this with the typical "he deserves a slow painful death" response. The irony has always made me chuckle. Personally, I wouldn't hunt lions and I do struggle with shooting a sleeping/resting animal. Most of us have probably had deer bed down near us and I can't imagine none of you have ever struggled with the concept especially considering the compressed vital area. But it's legal. I sure as heck wouldn't have shared the video though.
  21. clean looking truck. Sorry that you were infected with a brain parasite and chose a ford. I hope the docs can help you out.
  22. We've got a small group now. A few hours to go guys and gals. I know yall are competitive, come on!
  23. agreed. Although with trailer and stuff I guess it's fair. If you're just interested because it was presented to you, then maybe a pass. If you've been thinking about it for your place to keep kids/grandkids having fun, then they're probably a good investments. Jetskis unlike boats are purely recreational and sort of like pools. They're worth the cost and hassle if you're going to use them, otherwise eh.
  24. I didn't see one of these so I made one real quick. Bragging rights only. ESPN Link
  25. oh you're including, security, phone and net. yeah that makes sense. I'm at $190 when you factor in net
