  1. it would be kind of sad to have to pay to walk a state or national forest trail or to take a canoe out on one of are numerous forever wild waters... i'm not sure I'm down with that.
  2. the only anti-hunting stuff i see is on social media. I can't really remember the last anti-hunting thing I've seen. Even in the gun debate all but the most extreme seem to agree to leave the hunters alone. the more i read from you, i believe your real issue is with dog walkers and really nothing else lol.
  3. I dont think you and I can discuss this anymore. You're arguing over the ethics of hunting with another hunter and that's not what we're even talking about. We're talking about loss of revenue to our conservation fund as hunting declines. He discussed a multitude of reasons why hunting is declining. We've had this debate on here hundreds of times. Land access, less family structure, urban sprawl, video games, youth sports etc. And you find no issue with that part of the article. But YOU are blind if you don't think anti-hunter sentiment isn't also part of the decline. Look at the trashing people get now on social media. He then mentions that some movements have pushed some traditional non-hunter demos towards hunting free range animals, but more and more are apt to just buy it at a store than are apt to pick up a bow or gun. I mean, I don't know how you can debate this. Hunter numbers are down and all of us know it. anti-hunter attitude is just a part of it and certainty should be included in the article. If I took anything away from this, it's a call to arms for more people to get interested in hunting and for non-hunters to realize that all these beautiful places they enjoy have been and are currently funded by hunters. And that we need to find ways for non-hunters to help carry the load too. Note that a non-hunter isn't always an anti.
  4. did you also know our main deal is hunting? You might want to get in on that part of the site!
  5. dude... your reading skills are lacking. None of that was said. He stated that some are morally opposed to hunting. This is fact. He stated that bird watching and hiking participation is on the rise. fact. Then he mentions a proposed solution whas been to tax tents, binos, camping gear etc. but that it was shot down by the retailers. you need to read this with an open mind. take your filter off.
  6. I feel like none of you read this article at all, you're reading a headline and one quote. It's a good 5 minute read. Read the whole thing. There is zero anti-hunter propaganda here. It is simply talking about the threat to conservation as hunter numbers dwindle. It actually points out that decreased license sales may lead to more drilling and endangered species. geez guys
  7. i don't believe that's true at all. there are laws prohibiting it.
  8. did you even bother to read the article? It's actually shines a very good light on hunters and our impact on the wilderness.
  9. ummm.... it is true that some people morally oppose hunting. That is a fact. You may believe it's hypocritical and in some cases it is, but it's still a valid point to make in the article. We may morally oppose illegal immigration, but fact is the cost of our fruits and vegetables may increase. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
  10. there's quite a few members on this board alone who don't want background checks. Concerned about some pissed x-wife getting their husband on some list of "mentally ill" etc etc blah blah blah
  11. i have a coworker who wont shut up about his LC. They're basically tanks. But i hear they're not cheap and hard as heck to find.
  12. if you came and joined us at wooly's new site then none of this would be a problem.
  13. i was in the same boat just stepping the wife up from her hatchback in college. we went to a rav4 then explorer. Each gets a little bigger and she does fine. The newer models all have backup cameras and sensors now too so it's not as challenging as in the past. again for me, you're not taking a big step up in size with a tahoe. It's at truck platform so it will certainly handle differently, i just subscribe to going for it if you're going to spend the money. My goal is to get the fbi suburban. my wife would be one bad B driving the kids around in the that!
  14. It's important to note that the majority of Americans want gun policy reform. does that make it right?
  15. maybe not physics, but modern medicine for sure. Now my personal take on these sorts of topics is that there is a supreme being out there and that this being has provided us with the tools and resources to cure disease and illness. I don't believe you can pray away cancer, but i do believe God has given us the tools to try and defeat it. I don't believe in creationism, but I believe that God built the foundation for the world we have today and the framework for evolution. I bet someone like Hawking may not believe in such a theory, but I also doubt they would outright dismiss it as possible.
  16. thinking about one for the next vehicle, but honestly just skipping over it and going suburban. 3 kids and a dog and the explorer doesn't cut it and a tahoe isn't a huge step up in space.
  17. you quote "brilliant" like you're even playing the same game as hawking. Him not believing doesn't mean he crusaded against religion. geez, take the high road and show some respect. I hope neither you or any family members ever succumb to ALS.
  18. just thought maybe somebody would know who was defending our current laws and regulations as typically there is a rep that is pushing for it or they wouldn't have become bills.
  19. it's a hypothetical. You're not voting on legislation. I see the 2 compared a lot in the gun debate and was curious.
  20. No arguing that you don't like the options. Pick one.
  21. yes we all get the joke. I have a pretty good sense of humor. I just find it distasteful the day after someone dies... if you're truly a religious person you would know Jesus would not condone treating even non-believers this way. We all have enemies, but celebrating a death at the expense of a horrible illness because it's funny or because he shared a different view? IDK... btw, I can't stand Louise Slaughter, but I wasn't throwing a party after she passed. I guess you all can do as you please, but our member numbers aren't exactly growing...
  22. I'm looking for a congressman who can actually influence the bill and understands my opposition and may support it.
  23. i agree. i wonder how they would even gather this data as it's not a required disclosure.
  24. starting to forget what leaves and grass look like
