  1. for warm/cool season scentlok makes a nice head cover with a mesh ear so you can still hear. in the winter, it just kinda is what it is.
  2. If you feel dooped by $20 on scent killers as if they're some sort of snake oil then they aren't for you. I don't need 100% proof to spend $20 on something that most everyone else I know uses. Like I've said a few times now, I have no proof they work, but I sure as heck know that my usual irish spring and head and shoulders don't smell natural and at 10 seconds of extra time, the confidence (real or placebo) of spraying down my boots doesn't bother me one bit.
  3. i think some people steal cams after they're caught on them. Honestly, just steal the sd card if that's your worry. we've had sd cards taken. now the cams are locked.
  4. None. But the investment is maybe $20 a year in soap, spray and detergent. I think a lot of people don't buy into Ozonics because of the much larger investment.
  5. Most of the newer research I've seen has discouraged cover scents. The deers nose is to good. It can differentiate synthetic smells and also why "introduce" a smell that isn't normally there. There is no proof that eliminators work but at least I'm not adding anything to the woods.
  6. Make sure he knows he needs to sit still and not wash his hair with head and shoulders
  7. I think that's the first time I've heard then called ARs and its funny because that's exactly what they are. All it did was put less license buyers in the woods.
  8. Beautiful night in the dirty south. A little more breezy than I'd like but at least I'm not sweating.
  9. It doesn't break my bank to buy a bottle every season. The way I look at it, it doesn't hurt.
  10. as a catholic and an engineer I can tell you there are many old practices and beliefs that the church needs to just accept are wrong. But there are many things about science that have been disproven over the years. Even the laws of physics come into question with some of the dark matter and black holes and tackions. Nothing is ever for certain. There isn't even proof that death is final.
  11. never saw those before. i might bite the bullet too, the factory seat while comfy is too damn bulky and a pain to climb with.
  12. speak for yourself. most guys i know place more attention on the post-game than they do the hunt.
  13. so funny because i've hunted for 15 years out of hang ons. most 25'+, and the last year and half form a climber. I'll take my secure inspected hang ons anyday.
  14. first, i have a viper not a titan so keep that in mind. I would not climb in shorts or hunt in shorts. Depending on the tree, but most tress narrow as you climb, so start and a decline and it will level out as you get to your height. make sure you're using a harness and a tree tieoff you can adjust as you climb. 4" per movement isn't bad but you can do better. My best advice is to just take your time. It decreases sweat and opportunity to screw up.
  15. never aged any deer i've killed. I guess that 2 were 3.5. I know a doe I shot a few years ago was at least 4.5 though. She was just too big and mature looking.
  16. more than a few laws haha. I make a good living in environmental, health and safety. And 90% of the laws originate from idiots.
  17. I myself have ripped him a few times for his "arrows being guided by god". But in no way shape or form did he force anything on anyone with his post. The guy just stated he carries his bible with it. Your response is that you would wipe your ass with it?
  18. i'm going to assume knife is part of the "obvious group". So for me it's a flashlight/headlamp. Early or late, you only need to forget it once, or have it die to never forget it again. After that I'd say poopie paper and then some kind of snack.
  19. I would look in the adirondacks, but not because the deer hunting is all that great. But because you can get everything you asked for at a decent price. Also great summers for kids and families. Not sure I'd want to live year round though.
