I've never seen a forum that way -
Herds in some areas are not too large

You'll be fine with almost any head on the market. They will all put a deer down with a good shot.
-
Excellent point. We've seen a bi decline in turkey populations, and other than habitat lost the predators are a big part of that.
-
Again, you said it hurts a deer heard to hunt yotes. Papists post simply states it might not help a heard, but did not mention it being detrimental. This is the last time I'll ask you to explain your stance, and honestly I really don't care.
-
Yes. Does that really surprise you given the jobs and taxes in NY?
-
The family oriented part is that you only got the rebate if you had a kid. I'm not sure what's confusing about that. And for the final time, I will assure you this is no handout to most families who contribute far more in 1 month to taxes then this $350 is giving back. I do not disagree this is a vote buying scheme.Fwiw, Pataki did the same thing. Even sent a letter with it. My $350 was deposited Friday and I'm happy about it.

At what point do you say "NO" to work?
Five Seasons replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
I think we're on the same page. But for what it's worth, as a salary person I'm paid to do a job. If said job takes 50 hours a week or 38, i'm compenstated the same. If it takes 38, perhaps i can take on some more responsibility and earn a promotion. And maybe it only takes 38 because of my skill. To your point, yes promotions come with performance. But within performance is the ability to take on more. A smart man knows when he must push back. A smart man knows when the additional work wont get him anymore. There is no black and white answer to any of this, but simply... a person has to pick his own path. Hard work will generally always pay off. Doing your best everyday will almost always pay off. But refusing to work a little harder, go above and beyond or to do the right thing because you don't feel compensated for it? That will never get you to the next level. And these are the employees who i would rather not work for me. You will not just get promoted for giggles. You need to earn it. -
I'm not sure we "in fight" as much as people think. Debate and discuss? absolutely. Remember the internet is not reality.

My point was that you have to earn that promotion. Which may very well mean doing extra work without the compensation so that you are rewarded later. I strongly urge anyone to make sure that opportunity is there however before you go above and beyond. It's very similar to getting a college degree. You're not working while you're in school and you're getting loads of debt. However, most will realize that it can pay off. I know plenty who work hard with their hands and OT, nights and weekends and they make more than me. But when I'm 50 I'll be glad I don't have to work nights and weekends. This is not a dig on those who work like this. There are days I wish I could do more with my hands, or work outdoors. I guess what I'm getting at is that there are pros and cons to all jobs and all types are needed. How you choose to work and what you value is your call. Not everyone should aspire to be a CEO. But at the same time, if you're not where you want to be financially, take a good hard look in the mirror and think about the choices you've made. i will agree with you regarding "power" or "status". For me, I work to support my family. Nothing more. -

i like antler insanities app. I think the cabelas app will actually allow you to plot a path to the stand but last i checked it was $5. I suggest you use caution with the GPS map apps. Kill your battery.

It's a matter of how much you value your role or your opportunity to advance. For 1, I have had a company paid smart phone about 8 years now. Back to the Blackberry days. If you got a phone, you were expected to look at it and answer accordingly. Generally you knew what needed answering on the spot. but I would say that if you're looking to make a name and climb the ladder a little extra above and beyond is what managers look for. I have promoted and not promoted my employees based on this. I was very clear however that I would ask them to do "more than what your job requires". If they agreed it showed their hard working and willing to sacrifice now for later payoff. Some did not and they still have their current roles. They're not demoted, just not promoted. You may disagree with this approach and that's fine. Remember I'm not old school. I'm 31 but still believe you need to earn your way in life. And if you disagree with that too, then be glad you don't work for me To counter this, I believe and have been fortunate to have bosses who believe you should use every last ounce of vacation. You're stupid not to (if you get paid for it). Family is always first. I have let my employees flex their time to accommodate family issues. Very important to not work your life away. Very important to remember why you work. I'm also a firm believer in working smarter not harder. Gets you home earlier. -
disclaimer: never hunted bear. but i have a cabin up around Racquet lake. Bear are not easy to hunt is what I hear at the bar haha. So I would take one whenever the opportunity arrived. Then as I got better I'd be more selective. Many apply this to deer hunting.

Moved south in January. Job offer I couldn't refuse. I'm back next weekend for a wedding . Bringing the stick and string with me. I guess I'm a little surprised with the anti-family posting in this thread. I believe we're all on the same page when it comes to social program abusers, but as a community that generally is considered very family oriented, pass it down, teach the youth etc... A few of you sure do look bad...

Maybe I'm tired from riding on an airplanes all day today, but I'm so confused by your post. I'm not even sure what side you're on.

Ask a friend, spouse neighbor watch you. I had my father inlaw PPP over one day while I was shooting. It was the closest I could get to real world pressure haha. It did help my breathing techniques.

You kind of ruined your argument with the fact that you never killed a deer. It's all easy on the ground in front of a target. When those knees are knocking or you've been sitting cold for 3 hours you'll appreciate the muscle memory.

If you really want to be sick, realize that as a NY homeowner, taxpayer and parent in 2012 I will get the refund even though I no longer live in NY...
-
You're the one complaining. You're freaking out over $300 when parents pay something like $300k to raise a child.Don't be upset about our choice to continue the human race and I won't be upset about your choice not to.
-
If you'd like to see my tax return I can assure you that with even just 1 child I have forked over my fair share of tax dollars

Agreed but they do open in the quiver. However I keep an arrow nocked and the newer rage heads have never opened while nocked.

I prefer the guy who practices a little to the guy who doesn't at all. That said I don't feel like you need to shoot all year round. I start in early August and shoot several times a week from my stand. I think this part is key. Shooting from the ground in shorts is not realistic practice. I'm shooting the same now I always have and am dead on out of the gate. In summary, you're absolutely right about needing to be proficient. But I also believe that proficient can be had in various ways and does not have to be number of arrows shot.

I thought it'd be awesome but like it was mentioned everything looks to far away. Fine for self shots. I had a few videos but can't find them. This is one I did. First target is 15 and the second 20. In the end I opted to not even bother. Wasn't worth the bulk. This was with the head strap mount
