  1. ha. 1911 style pistol grips, auto cocker and scope will throw us off a little wont it? I think this looks great for the disabled or elderly hunter and I'll leave it at that. so you dont get busted drawing silly
  2. very pretty symmetrical rack. unique too.
  3. to those who are paranoid about hunters finding your spot... has it ever happened? I know there are some slimeballs on public land but you really have to go above and beyond to stumble on someones trail. We are pretty sparse with ours. You really have to search for them, we don't tack every tree. A trick we use too is to double tack a tree for a 90* turn.
  4. good god yes. couldn't find some of my stands without them. I tack both sides so I can get out too. There are other stands that don't require them, however in the open hard woods they're invaluable, mostly because we're very anal to even pickup the sticks to prevent crunching them under our feet.
  5. my dad went to dicks in webseter last week and they didn't have a single crossgun on the shelf.
  6. it's always a good problem if the deer is too heavy to do on your own
  7. welcome. convert some more! haha
  8. 3 properties. About 300 acres total. Probably 20 stands.
  9. i don't know why this site must be so negative sometimes. we all hunt for different reasons.
  10. remember when scoring southern bucks that their bodies are tiny compared to what we're used to. Makes the headgear look better
  11. An internet fad... Good lord some of you are ridiculous. Not only do you not want to donate (that's fine) but you feel the need to put it down, voice your displeasure and hate on those who have donated to what is a good cause. If you'd rather donate to other charities that's fine. I don't get the point of having to mention it and put it down.
  12. today i find it odd when someone needs help because they're stranded. 90% of people have a cell phone.
  13. so literally you say 2 rifles calibers so I'd choose .22 and 30-06. If you mean 2 guns to hunt with it'd be a 12 gauge and .270
  14. I did both. I'm not looking for a pat on the back. I don't understand the hate. I guess there are some dumb teenage girls who have done it and don't even know why. The awareness is great too. Sometimes though all we do as a society as point and say "someone should do something about that injustice" and then do nothing ourselves. Even my $75 isn't going to find a cure. It helps but I guess I don't see the negative bit about this challenge.
  15. I shoot the carbon express maxima kv hunters. i thought carbon express lighted knocks would work well and fit good but they dont. They're not that bright and one broke just trying to put it together. carbon express was good about sending me another one, but the guy on the phone acted like it was common. i'd stay away from their knocks. Their arrows however are awesome.
  16. why wouldn't you guys call before driving that far? I'm not a reloader but have but a few guns and some ammo from them with success.
  17. do you use this because the lift into the truck is hard? i've never understood them on pickups. btw, that's a real nice buck!
  18. i guess my problem would be 17' isn't high enough. i need 20 to feel ok and in hang on perm stand world i'm looking at close to 25-30.
  19. no but it certainly helps. i would never call out a hunter but will add that there's a few spots i hunt where you're basically guaranteed a flat head every hunt. i know that i'm lucky.
  20. switched a few years ago to a fanny pack. wont look back. so much easier to get stuff and to get on and off while in the stand. complaint would be that when pretty loaded up it weighs on the hips a little. the compartments help. I like the badlands but couldn't justify it and the one from cabelas does fine.
  21. the outsourcing days are not so common. A lot of companies are rebuilding in the US. Better quality, less transportation cost, quicker actions. That being said, despite the Work NY commercials, the North in general is being avoided. I moved south for work. Had a fine job in NY but there just isn't any growth in management if you're in manufacturing. Today you have to be flexible to really get a head. Sad part is a lot of people cant be and it sucks you have to leave your roots if you want to take the next step
  22. i always end up with a lot of ground. we're down to a dozen or so steaks and some sausage. Went through the chops a long time ago. We eat it at least 2 or 3 times a week.
  23. still just doesn't make sense. The idea i thought was to identify a hunter and report anything he's doing wrong or to know that he's properly licensed. so if it's camo how does that help?
