  1. I wonder if you and my neighbor hang out. He has 2 yippity dogs that bark all day long at me and my family. there are no noise ordnance laws in the country. So they bark all day long and do not allow me to enjoy my backyard. I guess common neighborly respect is a thing of the past.
  2. I too am in favor of a one buck program, but then I think about my season this year. The first deer I saw was a 2.5yr 8. Just happened to be that way. Knowing I might not get a chance a bigger buck on the cams might have made me pass on him. Throughout the rest of the year I saw nice deer, but never one bigger so I'm glad i took him... or I could have eaten tag soup. Which I know some of you will say is just fine, and that's been my dad the last few years. I'm just not sure I like it. Like phade, the cost of a broadhead and the difficult terrain we hunt and work involved with dragging out a doe can make one think twice about shooting a flathead.
  3. I still want to know why I can't kill 2 bucks in a season or only hunt bucks. It's legal so let me do it right?
  4. understand. but when you don't butcher your own deer it can get expensive. In 7J we do butcher our own, but in 8F we're not setup for it.
  5. I know. And that's why I shot a big fat doe last year... that and I needed the meat just going on an early morning rant on how we can be hypocritical about letting a hunter hunt how he wants sometimes.
  6. very much agree. And even siting in a gun is only a shot every few minutes or so and shouldn't (although we've all had our moments) take a whole afternoon. My gripe was with inviting all your buddies over for a session. That's what ranges are for. That being said, asking all your neighbors if they're ok with it and letting them know you're going to do it is perfectly polite and fine with me.
  7. ehh. Sans downstate that's not going to happen. I support your stance on a hunters responsibility, but disagree with it. I hunt how I hunt because I want to hunt that way. The same argument you all make for crossbows and against ARs. I'll shoot what I want as well. Put down and alienate the horn hunters and you'll find the industry that falls off the cliff.
  8. I try to fill at least 2 tags. I could be ok and eat all the venison if I filled 3, giving some to friends and family. But it's just my dad and mom in addition to us and if he kills 2 we just have too much. I always buy my dmp's... but I've only filled 1 in the last 7 years. Something I'm working on changing.
  9. I love fireworks. Don't bother me in the least, but we had a neighbor once a week let off a good bang. Never would I call in this ILLEGAL activity because i'm not that guy. But having to deal with a pissed off wife who is trying to put your newborn son down for a nap makes me waver a bit.
  10. I hate how many times Cuomos name appears in this.
  11. Playing devils advocate. I'm not sure any single elderly female would feel comfortable pulling up to a house in the country where a bunch of guys from the country are shooting guns and ask them to stop. My parents have a neighbor who shoot all the time, for long periods of time. Multiple guys. We wonder what they must be spending on ammo. We're gun owners and sight in guns on occasion too, but there is little that is more annoying than trying to enjoy a cold one on your deck on a beautiful day with guns going off. Maybe the only thing worse is a chain saw or dirt bikes. you don't sound like a bad guy, but there are those who are out there that are.
  12. Belo is my way of spelling a high-school nickname that was so popular that the teaches used it. It's pronounced B-lo, but most forums don't allow symbols. A lot of people probably read it as "bell-o".
  13. I do give him credit for evading the hunters and predators and cars for so many years. Dying of old age is not such a bad thing. Can you imagine how bad he would have tasted if harvested in the fall? haha. Old buck meat sucks!
  14. I remember reading tricks for getting them to back out without risking the head detaching inside. Anybody have them?
  15. wow. wonder if it was natural or wounded.
  16. who caries this stuff on the shelf? walmart online doesn't list it as in stock.
  17. I found out something recently about Yelp that really bothered me. Apparently, how they generate revenue is by charging the restaurant owner to remove bad reviews. Seriously, look it up. How ridiculous is that?
  18. I've never shot a benelli but i've heard nothing but good things about all their scatter guns.
  19. that was going to be my question. I use my gillie suit that i use for deer for turkey. How is this stuff on smell? Will it come out after some washes with scent free soap?
  20. I agree with you, but it's hunter dependent is all I'm saying. New turkey hunters should try and get as many kills as they can. Same applies to deer in my opinion, although I'd argue a doe should be shot first as they're plentiful and that doesn't apply to turkey.
  21. because a 12-14 pound bird is better than no bird at all?
  22. NYAntler said he considers it "how the animal is killed" not the weapon. So for his argument, it wouldn't matter how the arrow got there right? Is this next for archery season? I mean... for those that can't hold an awkward crossbow or are unable to cock it? It's an arrow after all. NYEAC
  23. i actually think that's tastefully done. hunter posed. all animals hung and ready for prep. not just "tossed in a pickup". I'm sure they were at one point, but that's not where they chose to take the pic. btw, that's crazy!
  24. puregold choke and hevi-13. amazing patterns. not cheap though. I put a red-dot reflex on top and i love it.
