  1. Never understood the appeal of this personally Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I don't like the video, but I think the safety angle is a stretch. I don't see a concern with the safety aspect. Would just rather see more concentration and less "bragging" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. You made a mistake. Hunters all over this board do. Most of them don't admit to it because of the responses we get. Don't let that fool you or anyone into believing your opinion isn't valid. An opinion is just an opinion, it can't be wrong. Some peoples opinions are more respected. But one thing is for sure, if you don't want to hear the opinions of others than you shouldn't take videos and or post on a forum. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Something that occurred to me when reading this thread that I think most of us can relate to is tracking. I hunt a lot of thick areas and I realize this is pretty open hardwoods, but the first thing I do after shooting is to try and watch the deer as it's running away. Perhaps mark a few trees it ran buy in case it doesn't bleed right away like some slug wounds are known to. Now what if he fatally wounded the first deer but the exit wound plugged? Would he have any idea even which direction it ran because he's focused on shooting more deer? Idk... Just asking not making any statements. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. It's not anti' its the neutrals Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. It's a lethal shot, but not a shot I think one should intentionally try. Just like the head shot the target is small, although a miss is more likely to be clean then with the head shot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Having no use for it themselves does not make them anti. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. We have quite a few bordering properties with hunters. When the season ends you can hike all over. I'm sure there are still large tracts of land where owners don't mind hikers in the off season. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. A lot of states have early openings like this. Even early October doesn't feel like hunting to me... As long as they don't move up gun, it wouldn't bother me too much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I've said the same thing on here and usually get railroaded for it. Like the government has always been perfect in deciding what's best for the people. I'm sure most North Koreans would agree.
  11. Very much disagree. While some do indeed support it because their garden is being eaten or they've hit one with their car, I do believe people understand that hunting is the most basic of human activities and part of our history. While we may no longer need it to survive, I think most level headed people understand it's not something they feel should be illegal because there is very little harm being done. Let's not forget that it's a multimillion dollar industry too. If you don't think that has anything to do with keeping it legal you're being silly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I do agree. I did not mean to sound like raptor control was not important too, just that different species have different levels of impact and therefore we can't treat them all the same. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Totally agree. I did not get into hunting for population control. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Agreed. But some animals left uncontrolled can be more harmful then others. Invasive species, boar, deer etc off the top of my head being the worst. An out of control squirrel population would not do as much harm as boar. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Or sissy fits? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. But it does hurt local businesses. But we all know NY could care less about jobs... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Agreed. Both the buck with bow and doe with MZ I shot this year were moving a little. The doe was walking and the buck walking very slow. The key word is running. I guess I'm just lucky. I've had so many "tit shot" opportunities at doe over the years that I'd never "need" to take a running shot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. With a gun? Trotting? Me too if there's not a lot of thick stuff Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. But the first part of my post was that I could basically shoot a doe whenever. But because nice bucks are rare there's a chance one might be tempted to take a riskier shot. The moral of the story is that deer don't always die. People are human and things happen. If you did your best to prevent a bad shot by practicing and taking a high percentage shot then it can be forgiveable and understandable because as most of you point out, we've all been there. But to be consciously sloppy is hard to grasp for some. In this case all deer dead. But that's not always the case. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. The very first deer I shot at with a gun was running and I haven't done it since. The only deer I wounded with a bow was my first but luckily recovered and he was moving but not running. I've never since shot at any running deer. I get enough opportunities at easy doe kills to not need to, and id never forgive myself for wounding a nice buck with a bad shot.
  21. It's not just you, going by the responses in this thread it seems the only people bothered by this is the fact that it comes off as bragging to post the video (just like the mother daughter photo thread) and/or the low probability second shot. I don't recall someone calling him a poacher.
  22. I'm a little less worried about being traced... Though I don't like it. I could imagine their system getting hacked and it not working out so well in some sort of Red Dawn situation haha. But the fee really bothers me. Ammo is expensive enough and throw in range/club fees that a lot of us pay and it encourages people not to shoot. Not to become proficient and safe with their firearm and to possibly even encourage the casual deer camp hunter to quit hunting. Lord knows gear and licenses have become expensive enough. I believe reloading is the answer for the minority, but not the majority.
  23. Isn't a shotgun what that kid in Colorado used? Ban everything!
  24. What does that have to do with the guy shooting at a running deer mere seconds after already shooting one? If the deer was standing still I doubt we'd have got this many pages.
