my thoughts. spend more time trimming shooting lanes in the off season or making runs so they eventually come into your lane, then to worry about trying to shoot through some brush.
-
they probably know you by name by now I bet.

How windy does it have to be to keep you from hunting?
Five Seasons replied to LiveFree1776's topic in Bow Hunting
i know how to still hunt. But to your point, if you do pass on a yearling, your neighbor might not. There goes next year's 8. -
Sighting in Freehand vs. with a rest??
Five Seasons replied to mlammerhirt's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
i can't believe this is a question. -

not a still hunter, but if you had the land where you could be certain you're not bumping them to other than go for it. My cutoff is usually 25mph, and if my freezer was empty i'd hunt out of a ground blind. anything over 30 and i'm not in the woods. the deer aren't moving much there either. -
i just noticed your handle. lol. good luck dude.
-
agreed. if you don't let them get it out of their systems it just spills over.
-
it's a wound/scar from something. but doesn't look too fresh and i wouldn't be worried about it.
-
did you get a buck with a bow this year? Or did you just pass a bunch again...
-
you can smell like gasoline if the wind is right. That being said, you decrease your odds that a deer will come from a direction that is downwind of you. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it doesn't help. And during the rut they can come from all over. And during the rut they can also not care about odors. personally i wouldn't. Please be careful during the dry seasons too. *notice most of these are gun kills too. Much harder to get a deer within bow range while smoking.

i never understood why forums lock threads. even if they're pointless. they don't take up resources and you're not forced to look at them. so what a couple of idiots are being idiots. there's no harm and i didn't even see any rules broken. i've been a member on a few forums that died because the mods were so tight a55ed that all the drama left and it got boring.

and you will only chamber 7 rounds as well, right? You referenced hunting laws in general. You were not specific.

13 year old son got his first buck- 8 point
Five Seasons replied to Tim Rozansky's topic in Hunting Success Stories
congrats, but what happened to that doe? -
case and point. Where's the African tribal pictures I've been waiting to see...
-
there's nothing wrong with that. but because he's a friend doesn't make him right, and it also doesn't mean you have to pile on.

not surprising to see these 2 defending each other. "Blood brothers... closer than your next of kin..." -Luke Bryan.

oh snap! btw, my dad can beat up both your dads.

You're such a hypocrite. What you do with your guns is your business? Well when I shoot at deer is mine then. As far as hunting laws, I'm pretty active with the NYB in my attempts to keep crossbow out of archery. And we were successful. moving on.
-
in 4 weeks we will be talking about ARs and crossbows again. In 3 months we can talk about turkey a little. In 6 months it's back to crossbows and ARs. And Early can whine about food plots and trail cams.

lmao. You know many states don't even require an initial course? yeah lets add more rules and regs to NYS. We don't have enough. People aren't leaving the state, hunter numbers aren't declining.
-
yet rule of thumb is to stay in your spot for at least 20 minutes after the shot anyhow. So a legal light shot might still mean a dark track, especially if it's a longer one. One nice 8 point I took many years ago during legal hours did not go far, I got up quick because of the light. I came to him, dying in a ditch. No reason I should have had to seen that but I was worried about the light. By the time I put the execution bullet into him it was dark.

at 6am i have a headlamp on. if you shoot at a headlamp i'm not sure what could save me...
-
if you didn't get the reference to laws that don't make sense, then you're more clueles than I thought. Please remember to register your assault rifles and turn in your 30 round mags bubba. Laws the law, homie.

How to conceal your climbing stand once the leaves fall
Five Seasons replied to Lord of War's topic in Bow Hunting
most of ours face backwards, however most stands can get action from any direction. We have used homemade blinds. Using fiberglass rods and camo/ghilie netting you can create a waist high blind. There are also some stands that don't need it because they're in a cluster of trees and naturally hidden. -
don't be paranoid about the little things. I'm not condoning illegal activities, but fact of the matter the ECOs are spread very thin and if you've ever watched an episode of wild justice, you'll see it sometimes appears harder to convict someone of poaching then it is to convict someone of murder. Hunt safe and ethically and you'll be just fine. To grow, a hunter needs to know their personal limits. If you hunt within your own limits then you'll be fine. If it's legal light and snowing sideways and I can't see my target I'm not shooting either. And there's no law against shooting when it's snowing sideways during legal light.
