  1. No different than bow season
  2. Lol. I ran out if toe Warner's so j stopped in dicks Friday night. Amazed at the guys buying full camo outfits and new guns. Last minute stuff is one thing, but come on haha
  3. No early shots in Tully valley which is rare. Quiet now for a while and I would say normal number of shots
  4. Too warm. Lots of flatheads so far and a bb who won't leave. Going on 3 hours with him. Hope the dumb bastardized survives the orange army. Good luck guys.
  5. Meat, if you had a clean shot, but made a mistake and did your best to find her than there's no reason to hate. It happens.
  6. classic drawing is all. no ill will intended. i love paint.
  7. wow that's wild and shitty, although i've never hung a deer outside... mostly because of animals. does he not have a barn or garage?
  8. 25' isn't that bad then. Most of our hang ons are close to 30. That picture makes it look closer to 50 haha
  9. Private. Why do you ask? We have plenty of permanent hang ons. But a lot of tight spots and thick areas making it a little harder to build a fort. I think if I hunted a field, plot or open hardwoods id love a fort. But we change locations a lot to reflect pattern changes.
  10. it almost looks too high. tough angles it would seem.
  11. some of you fort guys crack me up, although i wont admit to not being jealous of you when I'm perched on my 3x3 platform on a cold windy day 30' in the air.
  12. I shot this guy on 10/12. My goal this year was to shoot a mounter, but I am not too proud and still too young with not many bow bucks under my belt to pass a nice tweener. When I first got in the stand at dark I heard some movement NE of me. Nothing showed. A few hours later I was sitting in my stand when I heard a crunch behind me. I turn to see squirrels. Figures. I hear it again and check again to see him walking down the row of pines I'm hunting in and headed north towards me. He's still out there, but will eventually be a 10 yard broadside if he keeps coming. And what's this? A big body behind him. The 8 stops, slowly backs up and heads east and I never see the other deer. I can sort of make him out but he's about 60 yards through some very thick brush. I grunt a few times and nothing. 5 minutes go by and he starts walking down a parallel run headed north, but this time to my east. Alright i think, second chance. He stays off the run at about 30 and behind a log. I have a narrow spine shot and decide not to take it. He stands there looking NE for what seems like forever. Then he wheezes. Are you serious? I've never seen this in the wild. He makes his way into some brush and out of site. A minute goes by and I hear sparing! Are you serious? Another first for me. 5 minutes go by and I see movement. Now a deer is headed west (basically making a full circle around my stand) but still too far out and in some brush. I see 2, then 3 deer. A forked spike comes in front of me headed west. Broadside 15 yards. No thanks. Then comes a 6 who I'm assuming was bedded down from this morning and also the 8's sparing partner. I see the 8 working a scrape behind him and decide to wait. Well doesn't the 8 take the same run in front of me but then go behind a pine a few yards north. He takes one step out at 22 and I draw, pic a window that in hindsight might have been a risk given some pine twigs and let it fly. He went about 60 yards. Single lung and liver. 10 minutes later comes another 6 from the SE headed NW. Then a doe. and when my dad comes in from his stand to help me drag out comes a huge 6 from the south. very thick beam. I believe he was with the 8 and the body I saw previous and just veered off because he came from that direction. Needless to say I would have been happy with the hunt even without the deer. Some of the best action I've ever had pre-rut. I'll update this later with some trail cam pics. a rage entrance wound! I think he weighed around 145lb.
  13. listen dude. I can only reply to what the OP said. If he left out facts then I'm not to blame. For the final time, if you don't want people to reply and comment; then why post in the first place? I still don't even retract what I wrote. His timeline doesn't make sense in regards to the shot, the land owner, looking for it and tracking other friends deer, which stand he hunted the next day etc.. Re-read it and see for yourself. Given his initial description we all thought it was dead. Now it's running and swimming? come on... I see these threads all over the internet in regards to many different subjects. Someone comes in knowing they did something stupid. They're looking for someone to reassure them that what they did was ok. A few people will tell the OP that it was ok and not to worry. But the realist on the forum calls them out. The OP gets butthurt because he realizes he's being told the truth and it's not being sugar coated.
  14. tee hee what did I say this time? shocker! you can't be surprised when you put down one of the most popular heads on the market. I have had nothing but success and it looks like those that stuck with Rage feel the same. Threads like these are actually good for the site because it allows those who are undecided to hear various opinions and weigh their options when deciding on a head for themselves.
  15. powerbars for me. I unwrap them before hand though because the wrappers are noisy and stick em in a ziploc.
  16. they've been around since september. they're local. I have some healthy local doe that bring them in I think. oh believe me I've tried! last year i moved to this house and put up cameras for giggles. I have some great property I hunt. I saw a few does and scrub bucks. Did some work on apple trees, run cutting and some better cam locations. I honestly was encouraged and might not have considered the spot at all if it wasn't for the pics... and the huge scrapes. agreed. I do have a few daytime. They're just few and far between. Making it hard to hunt without a 4 leaf clover the real kicker? Hunted one morning last week till 9:30 (wife wanted to go to gym). I only had 2 spare cards. So I pulled 2. Went back 20 minutes later to change the last... only to see this guy go through haha. I'm tagless now anyhow, but still (on my way to 1 cam) oh look who shows up
  17. i hear ya. I'm actually pretty sure I know where they are. There's a nice bedding area, but it's not on my property and even if it was I'm not sure i'd disturb it. You don't get several mature shooter bucks on your land by accident. It's sort of like luck of the draw and hoping they're there when you're in the stand.
  18. These beauties are all on my little 5 acre spot. Only a few random daytime pics. Frustrating... (they're a little out of order)
