Perhaps you should watch this video of deer jumping the string. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=9_B9yrgee5o&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9_B9yrgee5o

Chest could mean vitals too, only he knows and after pages of bs I doubt he will bother to post.
-
Probaly because like a few here you lack experience in bow hunting but still think you know everything.. Just a guess though.

I have been sitting till at least 1 or 2 this year, killed my doe at 1120 am. I have hang ons, not my favorite place in the world but snacks help me get through the day. I am used to hunting from the ground but have been air born this year more.
-
He said in the harvest thread it was 30 yards. My brother had the same thing happen last year at the same distance with nearly the same results just lower. His buck jumped and turned into the arrow from a broadside shot.
-
Were you there? Again a deer can turn way faster than any arrow.
-
Don't worry I sent him one, hopefully he comes back and explains things for us. You started this thread so the bash fest is on you, its on him for posting images in the first place.
-
I think you are reading into his comments a little to much, I don't think saying he shot a deer because he paid for his tags means he made a bad shot on purpose. Did you bother to PM him to see what happened before starting the bash fest here? And for the record I have seen plenty of deer shot quartering too (not by me) and even head on that were killed just as dead and ethically as a broad side shot. Absolutely not the best choice but can be done right by an experienced shooter.
-
AND you opened it and were let down..hehe
-
Well first let me say stuff happens, we all know that. Second, none of us were there to witness it so who knows what angle the shot was. He never really said in the other thread what the angle was just that it was a bad shot and the deer may have jumped the string and he was aiming for the chest. A deer is fully capable of doing a complete 180 by the time an arrow travels 30 yards. As far as the pic, that was and is bad taste and I see no reason why it needs to get posted in this thread either, those types of images are not good for our sport. Shame on you for reposting it here. Also if it was a poor shot selection made on purpose than you can question ethics, if it was just a case of something bad happening how can you call into question a hunters ethics. Bottom line, none of us were there and don't know what went down.

Oh yea well I am a meat hunter but will only shoot older doe's, does that make me a trophy meat hunter? Why did it become a bad thing to hunt for meat? No one said you have to be a meat hunter and live exclusivley off of one kind of meat either. And by the way I consider myself a hunter, no other descriptive words needed.
-
I am going to call every deer I kill a cull form now on..hehe
-
"How do you guys keep at it when you havent seen anything all season? " Ever still hunt? Move around and scout during the season, when you find sign return to that area and hunt it some more. I wouldn't bother driving down through the woods, seems silly to me but do what you gotta do.

Went with my wife this morning, her first time out this year due to kids. We saw 7+ deer, one real good doe but she didn't like something and turned the group off just out of range. We were cold from the wind but made it to 11am, even with a case of the sniffles I had a blast. Found fresh scrapes too.
-
I have both and would say the 7mm has more recoil and is louder. My 06 is a semi so that takes care of recoil and is tame compared to a 7mm.

I love the what if's and hypothetical games, bunch of non-sense. So now we are relating not being 100% able to tell if it is a BB or a doe with shooting at humans and not knowing what you are shooting at and other law breaking.

How long do you leave your powder and bullet in the gun
Doewhacker replied to mark3885's topic in Muzzleloaders
Thats a great idea, I usually try to cover mine with my hand in wet stuff which is a pain. And I leave powder in for the whole season, never had an issue with loose black powder. My dad has left his in for a entire year with no issue before, Goex black powder rules. -
On my way! Good luck down there.
-
I would get different chokes, pattern if you can and if not bring them with you in the field and switch them out and see how you do.
-
I didn't know he hunted, we all know you hunt enough for both of you..hehe
-
I would go with a spine of .300 to .340, especially on the .300 to .320 range.
-
If a person buys a tag and is legal they can fill the tag what ever way they see fit, stop worrying about how and what others do. Basically I'm saying, just hunt.
-
Does Mr.B even hunt? I don't see the need to run out and get extra tags that will never be filled.
-
Yes, because all of the weight is on the front end.
