The DEC also covers far more than just hunting. Our state cannot get its spending under control, what makes you think the DEC can and will make any changes that would be considered radical by the majority of hunters? Baby steps is what we shall get.

In my opinion what we might see is one buck tag, seems most guys are ok with that and it may be the least controversial. Season lengths I don't see changing by a bunch but who knows? Most deer (@85%) are killed the first week of the season and thats not going to change no matter how short the season becomes. What would affect deer take is moving the opener away from the rut, not suggesting they do that just stating the obvious. If I were looking to be a big buck hunter I would be promoting Ohio's season structure all the way.

I have to chuckle at the guys doubting the size of it, I think I'll take the word of the guys that have first hand experience with its sheds and scouting time in on it. I kept reading that thread thinking it was dead.

We notice more of that kind of thing when the temps drop, not always snow included in that observation. Two years ago we ran into a herd of 20+ durning late ML season when it was real cold and that wasn't the first time.

If need be you can attach a cleaning rod to a 1/4 inch drill and use that for some high speed scrubbing too.

Only in certain areas, but yes the herd numbers would need to be balanced in those over abundant areas. Even the non doe permit areas would need an increase in permits eventualy because more guys would pass on bucks if they only had one tag to burn for the whole season..in theory any way.

Oh geeze a test.. As far as I know its military and sporterized, now I have to see it.. Its funny as soon as I set up my stuff, all these gun ideas popped up from my family, haha. My brother recalled a Whelan 35 he saw on sale two years ago and how he wishes he bought it now and then the 8mm was brought up.

I have heard it depends on what they eat before hand, dump bears would be gross while corn fed are great according to some. I don't hunt around dumps so I'm good to go. I know there a few guys in here that love the meat.

I want one, but for the meat. I would be very picky where I shot one because of the drag out, ie not 5 miles from the truck. lol

No I would not use them on my dogs, I run bird dogs not labs. If I had labs in a duck blind I would consider it but my concern would be the dog hearing commands while running the retrieve or field. -

I think there is a product on the market like this already, I would do some research before you sink your money into your venture. It was made by Southern US Duck hunters for their lab's. -

Looking back on that thread I would say you played as much a part as us by stirring the pot. It started with he and I saying how its sad that new hunters don't know how to butcher their own kill and that turned into you bashing he and I. Then the insinuation that we were bashing others way of hunting or styles of hunting started, we were called elitist for some reason and it went on from there.
