Yesterday my dad, uncle, best friend and I were going to do some deer drives on county land. One spot we were going to first had two trucks there, (black dodge and green ford) so we with no complaint drove to another spot and began a drive. I had two does come in to 15 yards and I dropped one then a couple minutes later a small buck came in to 10 feet of me. I let him go and he went into the wood where the drive was going on. (I'm sore selective on bucks that the other hunting party). So the guys skipped the piece of woods in front of me to meet up and see my deer before pushing that chunk. while we were standing there a shot rang right in front of me about 100 yards. there was NOONE in this area when we started the drive. My dad circled around to see if anything would be spooked from the shot as I gutted the deer and dragged it to the truck. when we got back to the truck we noticed that the black dodge from the other location was parked RIGHT NEXT TO my out truck. We could see in the snow where the guy jumped out of the truck and literally ran along the road and cut into the woods in front of me. (He must have seen the buck from the road and tried to get infront of him) while standing by our truck we hear another shot further into the woods and a couple minutes later the green ford came driving by. we drove over to pick up my dad and sure as shit the other truck was parked again right by our other truck from the drive. my dad told us that the guy had hit the buck and they were tracking it. (the guy made the comments of "I hit him hard" and "I shot a big 8 last night on the other road" to my dad when they crossed paths in the woods.) We couldnt take it and read them the riot act for parking right by us, running in to the middle of our drive on purpose and for not giving us the respect and common courtesy of staying out of the small piece of woods we were hunting as we had done for them! The only guy to respond (the other knew they were in the wrong and wouldn't even look as us) said what as if he couldnt hear us about ten times and that it was county land and he could do what he wanted....... I can't get over how bad hunting is getting. People have NO respect for anyone else and they have all turned into selfish greedy people. Not to mention he is so stupid to make the comment that he shot a buck the night before and then just shot another!! And to get into a drive that he knew was occurring is F---ING retarded!!!! you have no idea where we are and we have no idea that you now have snuck in and are right in the line of fire??!!?!?! I really cant even explain how much this baffles me that someone would be so retarded, disrespectful and greedy! ugh had to vent about those two morons....

9 out of the last ten for me... only one I missed was because our football team was playing in the State Semi-finals. driving there and back I saw hunters from the threway and was jealous! not planning on missing anymore for anything. although the woman may have other opinions on that

Anyone else notice something about the first picture on this website? http://www.fishlakegeorge.com/adirondackhunting.htm Having one I can tell that's a Ruger 10/22. 22cal. there is no way that he could have killed that deer without a head shot with that gun. Outfitters possibly spotlighting or baiting for clients? what do you think?

the deer will settle down and go back to checking their scrapes... I'd stick to that stand spot since its an obvious scrape line. the night thing will change when the does start coming into heat which should be so by now. good luck

they claim that hunters shooting them will break up groups of them and cause them to spread faster and wider across the state.....riiiight!

I couldn't believe how quiet it was this weekend too! I was telling the guys from the lease who haven't been here for opening weekend before that it sounds like a warzone but if I heard 40-50 shots opening day that would be a lot! I'm use to 100+ by 0800!

Are you serious JustRob? Its well knows that the Amish hunt whenever and wherever they want and shoot what ever they want! Here in Upstate they're moving in left and right and damn near everyone who boarders them will say deer population is down and there are a lot more shots, day/night/season/not season....

compound bow or recurve?
-
WOW!!! simply amazing

You wouldn't have been ok in a cab for one. OC is OC. You'd still get a ticket. and second did you give the cop attitude? Any attitude/disrespect usually won't end well for you.

Antler Restrictions - voluntary or otherwise
bowaholic replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Deer Hunting
there is plenty of other places to hunt in NY that don't have AR's. If they quit because of the ARs they in my opinion didn't have a passion for hunting here. -
OUCH Biz! Something got to keep us men warm up here....no caramel machiatos from Starbucks for us here!

The answer is purple! welcome to common core math students! hahaha

id think if its dead youd use the bow tag. bringing a gun would be legal due to the date of retrieval. If you had to finish off the deer it would be a gun kill warranting the gun tag... just my opinion, no facts being that

I have a tendency while trout fishing to come back with drift wood tucked under my arm haha. I have a collection of it in my room for this kind of stuff
