  1. Well my buddy just texted me and wants to run his GSP tomorrow morning on Pheasants....I hate taking a hunt away from Bow season but its nice to mix it up. Only problem the last two seasons this has bit me in the ARSS... Two years ago duck hunting the widest 6 point I have ever seen walked up to us within ten yards with snot and drool dripping out of his face.... then last year we went goose hunting and again the overall biggest 6 I have ever seen walked up to us in our ground blinds.....tall, wide, long brows.... again well within bow range! If this happens again tomorrow that's it...I'm not hunting another thing the rest of my life during bow season! fingers crossed all we see are some ringnecks haha
  2. I have seen these kinds of hunts on TV and they are obviously different than any fair chase hunt. and we ALL know you were sarcastic with the enjoy your bounty comment.... your aren't fooling me
  3. call DEC and have the person ticketed and fined... breaking the law breaking the law! (badly singing a song thats beyond my time) haha
  4. your always talking about your deer farm and how hunting high fenced deer is such a challenge....what do you do at deer farms? hand raise deer... then sell the hunts. Your kind of high fenced hunting "which you stand up for" is about as much of a hunt as this guys doe he just shot. So don't act all holy and like he is less of a hunter than you are... because in his situation (unless the deer was CAGED like your deer) his deer could have at least ran away never to be seen again! Get off your high horse all mighty white hunter....
  5. Coming from the high fenced deer farmer/hunter
  6. no.... that's not hunting and there is plenty of time to fill the freezer...if it was last day of season maybe
  7. i hope your not serious about not talking to your girlfriend for two days because she said that to you.... I say that fraise...but I pass on small deer so it doesn't just mean that they're going to go out and shoot whatever they see... its just a fraise to get pumped up for season and the hunt.
  8. Anyone use these on mock scrapes? Thinking about doing this but the dripper comes with a mixed doe/buck urine. I use Code Blue and Code Red scents but not sure if it will work in it since it is supposedly some technology to drip only during day light hours?? Anyone??
  9. would like to stick around 3500-4000$ for an outfitter
  10. Who has been out west Elk hunting? I'm looking into going out next year (preferably Montana) or Utah or Colorado. Looking for a good outfitter that wont break the bank but is good and has a good success rate. Or even if you know of good places for public land hunting.
  11. wasn't me but my best friend kind of did the same thing except he forgot the bullet. Shot at a coyote and all he had was pop with not much kick. Couldn't figure out what happened until he reached into his pocket and realized he forgot the bullet... only thing that went off were the powder pellets! dumbest think I have ever done was sitting in a stand without a harness on about 2 hours of sleep and almost falling out. nothing scarier than that jerk that wakes you up and you instantly realize your 15 feet up! NEVER AGAIN!
  12. should shoved a stick through his tire spokes!!
  13. my buck was LOADED down with fat too. Sign of a good winter (well for us snowmobilers at least haha)
  14. Congratulations brother
  15. Mine didn't last even an hour Saturday morning before the lil F-ers got to him.(in the bow harvest thread) hope you found your doe!
  16. Just cooked mine last night. Boil it in water, two beef boulion cubes, chop garlic cloves, chop onions, cover water in crushed red pepper and boil on low for an hour and a half. Brought it to work for lunch today haha
  17. FIRST POST ON THE KILL THREAD! Saturday morning was hunting at my aunt's property in Rome for the early season. Saw 5 does in the morning and almost got a shot at one but it was a little to thick so I passed on it. About 8 I left the corn field I was sitting next to for a little still hunting. I started walking down an old logging road on the property trying to walk up on something possibly bedded in the beach trees. Got about 150 yards into the woods from my aunt's hay field and saw a black squirrel which I was very tempted to shoot (and almost did!) Thought it through though, didn't want to use up a rage and possibly break an arrow. Well its after 930 now and I had stuff to do with my nephew and girlfriend so I turned around to work my way back to the car. Didn't even take a step and I see a deer walking from my left to righ crossing the logging road I was standing right in the middle on. I could see it was a buck but he was about 80 yards out so I just watched and couldn't believe he was just going to walk right by me. Well he turned towards me and took a few steps then stopped. Then took a couple steps to the right and stopped again. He was teasing me! He finally turned back towards me and was coming right to me! About 40 yards out he got behind a big tree so I quickly and quietly took three or four steps forward and got into a position for a shot. He stepped out from behind the tree slightly quartering away, I drew, stopped him and let it fly! Watched the Nokternal laser right into his ribs. a little back but with the angel still a good shot. I got my composure and texted my girlfriend to tell her plans were going to have to push back a couple hours. I waited maybe ten-fifteen minutes and then looked for my arrow and blood. Found good red blood right from the shot so I got on the trail. about 60 yards into it I found my arrow feet from a stand my father and I built years ago. About another 100-150 yards I found him in a cedar swap dead! Apparently I wasn't the first one to find him....damn coyotes already started to open him up where my arrow went in. luckily no meat was lost. He was my best bow buck so far! Good mass at the bases, good brows and the best part...the hunt itself less than an hour from shot to finding him 0945-1040
  18. my honest opinion after riding for the last almost 20 years aka almost my whole life...you should have started with a 500 if you have never ridden before. they go plenty fast enough for when your comfortable and getting more experienced. an 800 is way more sled than a beginner needs. I just last year upgraded to an 800 and I'm well beyond just an experienced rider. What made you want to go straight to an 800?
  19. don't cheap out on gear...quality gear makes for enjoyable and survivable rides haha. I wear FXR and ski-doo gear. 509 helmet/goggles too
  20. my god your first sled is an 800? not the best of ideas.... better take it easy! DONT GET HURT!
  21. two favorite recepies and there both simple. 1. Put the tatas in the crock pot and cover with water fully submerging them. Cook on high heat for 6 hours or low for 8. Remove from crock pot when they fall apart with a fork. Tear apart, load up with BBQ sauce and you have BBQ pulled goose. (My favorite) 2. Cut into half inch slices lengthwise, put enough oil to cover the bottom of a pan. Put garlic powder and Italian dry seasoning on one side of the meat and fry over medium low heat. DO NOT OVER COOK! (just did this for the first time the other day and came out great....minus the BB's! haha) Let me know what you try!
  22. Black Cloud for me. 3 and 3 1/2 inch BB shot
  23. tip is sit on a blow down that has a root ball you can see over, gives you plenty of cover to move and to draw behind. And also never set your bow on the ground, always have it in your hand and ready, it can happen fast and you need to be prepared.
