  1. Lol... I'm told if you saw it, it was a replica. Friend of mine had a big buck measured by some guys that have measured many of the biggest. They're all official measurers for multiple books. Story has it the real one didn't leave his house when replicas were made. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  2. maybe not to the extent that it is today but it was still around and Mr. Hanson still had many of the concepts in mind. one example, he knew enough to preserve and save the whole lower jawbone all these years.
  3. different ages are floating around the internet but knowing someone who's talked to him with pieces of the puzzle it seemed to be 4.5 yrs old. makes sense as it could have a majority of its growth by then and often they start growing stickers, "trash", and other points after that.
  4. standing on the rear axe of his bike? i hear it gets tricky when it's a good night. probably safer and you'll you both keep your license. if you made face up or down at least to the front yard, is it still OK to use the wife as an emergency backup for a ride home?? never had to do that but always wondered.
  5. sorry to hear it. hope things turn around. could definitely call the sheriff seeings how paperwork is in order. odd she hasn't. usually it works with now incident and somehow they know they're coming. my family used to have apartments. always seemed like the official person living there was clean on paper but had baggage that was not so much.
  6. i know a guy that worked for a realestate company. he was the one that went in to tidy things up or assess repairs that needed to be made (or replaced from being lifted). he carried all the time and was still uncomfortable.
  7. i used to make the drive when i went out to college and lived out in Buffalo with family back here. 5 hour drive more or less. I'd like to but not sure i can swing it.
  8. Fletch just posted that not long ago. I was at the store down the street and they had a handful of different brews from industrial arts. I think one of them will be on the list for tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Not a tanqueray and tonic kinda piney but maybe there's a hint of it in there. Just a real decent Pilsner in my mind. They've got some others that are good. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  11. looks good from the pic. congrats again. also cool you donated to a program like that. not many really do.
  12. good advice already given; tuned bow, heavier arrow, vibration whatever on limbs, newer string (string material also makes a difference), maintained/waxed string, and making sure no parts are rattling (i.e. quiver, bolts, screws, etc.). i can only think of a couple others right now. drop-away rest height or brakeless design that'd allow the arrow holder fork to slap the arrow shelf is one. another is some bows depending on limb pockets and riser design benefit from vibration dampening bands whatever brand you like installed toward the ends of the riser (top and bottom). other thing is the type of vanes or feathers your shooting, including how much of an offset or helical they have. more surface area or angled the vanes are on the arrow shaft the more noise they'll have when moving through the air.
  13. it sounds like you don't actually know the velocity you're at. that's going to effect your drop a lot at 1000 yards. also it'd be nice to know how consistent your batch of ammo is for velocity. math is right but doesn't matter if your drop is off by guessing velocity. borrow a chrono or shoot out further on a big target to figure out drop. i use scrapped large format 24"x36" or 36"x48" construction drawings from work on a plywood backboard. record everything for weather when you shoot. those ballistic programs work but they're only as good as the info that's put in. try to pick a calm day. if the wind pushes your bullet pretty hard it's path is a bit longer that might push you into added windage. once you've got elevation figured out to an extent turn the board sideways because wind will screw you more than elevation ever will. that's my input but i wasn't a sniper or anything in the military and i don't shoot F-class or benchrest competition. so i'm not considered an expert.
  14. my grandpa grew berries but always had problems with birds. had to put chicken wire over and around the whole thing.
  15. i thought about trying their selection. have it at the store down the road.
  16. we've had one before and have one now. some local people like watching it and there's plenty other deer so, no i won't. they often have genetic deficiencies of some kind outside the obvious color. still it's a drop in the bucket and can't control genetics in free range deer like a deer farmer can in a fence. it is cool to see how long they live. though this current one will be a 1.5 years old come fall.
  17. English stout. Better from draft but cans are alright if you like stouts. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. What??? Not far from grampy and i. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. i've seen a bunch while out and about on people's lawns, road sides, and in the city. hay is just starting to come off the fields for first cutting. should be able to stack some in the near future. a lot of old holes are still filled in but new ones always pop up.
  20. i just went to a friend's bday party and looked at a free range non-typical over 200"... again. it had at least splitting drops too. it doesn't really matter at that point they're just plain big. a lot goes into allowing both bucks fenced or free range to express the genetics they have. genetics can't do it all by themselves. the one in this post is still an incredible deer though.
  21. mesquite is a pretty bold smoke for many. i usually use something more mild for pork with apple or cherry, and then mix in a little hickory to finish at the end.
  22. of the whole thing or just the bouquet toss?
  23. no master chef. i just made some the other night that came out just fine. i always season well with dry rub and put in fridge to let sit and draw it all in. you could season and smoke it under low temp for a couple hours. i don't know how lean the cut is but you have to be careful with cockpots. fat side up if there is one. only on low for a good 10+ hours. when the fat renders off it you don't want the butt sitting in the melted fat the whole time. it'll over power any favor you're trying for and it'll just seem greasy.
  24. my wife goes a binge with all the classics so much remotely close to christmas i can't take them any other time. i barely watch cable TV anymore.
  25. TF some stuff like that bothers you so much you feel like you need a beer. i get the post.
