Dicks sporting goods/field and stream

out this way we have one guy that owns a ton of them. building more stores in proximity to local mom and pop shops. i don't see them surviving. especially with this now he'll get even more business. field & stream is the only real box store around. we don't have anything else. not like central or western NY. blows my mind since it's the capital region, as well as north and south. -

a lot.... anyone i know of who had one before didn't register and instead made it compliant in a way that's easily reversible back. since obama i know of many that have bought them too. it's just a dependable and modular system. -
i'm with grampy nice deer and the plaque only adds to it.

hogs being a problem and lots of food to donate i'd think this way is more practical. dogs are more efficient then longer hours sitting on stand trying to pop one or two at a time. more fun but i doubt many can afford a helicopter hunting often.

choose your battles and at a paint and guzzle wouldn't be one of them i'd pick to rally for man kind.

yea but you told me not to tell anyone, so i kept things vague as i could. it's fine the thread will get buried. you worry too much.

good deal... it's always good to hear another club thriving and doing well. I've got a rod and gun club nextdoor and it's a beautiful thing from a shooting sports perspective. we've seen an up tick in membership diversity new and old.

I did a paint and sip thing with my wife and some other women. Gotta earn bargaining power for hunting season. We did a beach. It's hanging up somewhere. I pregamed hard and had whisky in a travel mug. It was fun. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

He might not accept that gigolow money. Don't know where it's been. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Plenty of time for that with the next one. As well as pictures. Can never have enough. I know when you dont get harvest data it makes some of us always curious and it's a hind sight. No worries though. Seems it was likely 2.5 to 3.5 yrs old. Congrats on a great deer! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i wouldn't put aspen #1 maybe some deer where you are have a taste for it. different deer have varying preferences for browse to an extent. from watching rehabbed deer browse in the same spots up close i've come to that conclusion anyway.

you have to do no till if you can't really get anything other than a wheeler to it. spray and drag until you get dirt then broadcast and just drag a white pine branch or something that'd float on top with the wheeler to cover it seed lightly. don't cut the maple yet. get it all going then access if you want to hinge it to steer deer to a treestand location at edge of plot. otherwise both hard and soft maples will sucker if you leave stump cut several inches above ground. deer like maple. that was actually what MSU deer lab used in their study.
-
yea i don't know what kind they are but anything a deer will browse then maybe let them sucker and grow. working in and around stumps in plots gets to be a pain in the butt though. depends on if you're doing all the work with hand held equipment or not.

number of big game species is 2/10. public land i'd say a 9/10 only because we have a lot of it given there's everything within the blue line. smaller tracts could be managed better like some other states do though. trophy quality is okay but kind of sucks compared to other states forced efforts or their hunting culture, so i'd give that a 5/10. opportunity and prevalence of game, cost of tags, etc. is probably an 8/10. how politically and general public emotion handicapped our state DNR is i'd give management efforts a 5/10. just behind many other states in implementation. they're still trying to manage just quantity and not quality.
-
yea we've got a CAT D3 wide track that's been used to build ponds and can get just about anywhere. he mentioned a hill though. any hill i can't make it up with an atv isn't exactly something i'm screwing with on a dozer.
-
if he can barely get a wheeler to it he's not getting heavy equipment there.
-
that's not too big. try to dig out and cut feeder roots you see on the surface with an old bar and chain on the saw. that way they'll work themselves out of ground with freeze and thaw, and rain. cut stumps as close to ground as possible to eliminate material. drill holes from top and sides to make a "v" around it towards center where depth is deepest. then use stump chemicals like you get at TC, lowe's , etc that help the stump break down faster. you'll need some water. second hand plastic barrels are cheap. the stump might still be there but roots will break down and pop out enough to get them out of the way. if you keep applying the stuff they'll be broken down in a little over a year depending on what the tree are. sometimes they work up enough you can get them out before then. more surface area and air the better. deer attractants and minerals poured on and into it work well too if you're an out law as you're here in NY.

if you continue you figure out an arrow saw and a spinner to make your own arrows from scratch is a must. otherwise the pro grade weight and tolerances of factory assembled arrows is expensive to buy.
-
stacking pins is not accurate enough. you need an adjustable pin sight. problem i have getting really long distance is i run the bigger 2" vs 1-5/8" housing HHA. eventually vanes don't get clearance even having a lower anchor. spine and FOC becomes more important so it's not oscillating like a wet noodle too far out there. weight and vanes all effect how it carries too. i shoot a full max helical so mine have quite a lot of drag and drop. i use a .010" with HHA adjustability i can dial pin brightness in without weight of adjustable battery reostat. 100 yards is a long ways to shoot past minute of deer or balloon to pop.

bionic super arm. same side. if you don't know the story behind the character it could be confusing. he's one of the good guys though.

as i read through this i can't keep the image of Marvel's Winter Soldier coming to mind.

wait that's your secret?! i can't believe you mix them. must be one hell of a musk.
