there's likely waayyy more bedding than that. how are you accessing this area from where is the first question? deer like diversity and edges. open woods will hold nothing for very long. not all of it you can hunt without swirling wind though. i see these options - look for oak stands near edges of the swamps especially down wind of the thick swamp. bucks will scent check areas like this fast and efficiently if there's food or water to hit along the way without stopping much that's a bonus. - the ditch line south of the land bridge. walk along it and find a lower spot or converging trails crossing through there. west to east. find a spot on to the north of it and to the south of it. hunt with wind and thermals in mind and in range of that spot, so possibly morning your to the south and evening to the north. - if you have a gun and morning hunt, WNW of the peak in the upper right corner might be good. sit looking down the ridge overlooking a cluster of hard mast trees or maybe blow downs where sun light is hitting the ground for a spot of browse and cover that'd funnel movement across the ridge getting around that peak. - bottom left and right will have deer activity just looking at it. hunt NW of the end of that ditch running west and east above the "list filter". That ditch will steer deer heading west and east. You'll have deer bedding along ridge (bowl) south of the land bridge and between 550-500m elevation lines that will be heading towards or from those meadows or fields in the bottom left corner. Where those intersect or come close to each other is where you setup. wind should be consistent enough. - most promising but difficult spot to hunt is that same activity with bottom right fields. that large gut running NE between the field and the ridge top/peak will make wind difficult and swirl all up or down through it. deer could bed anywhere along it. if there was enough activity there you could sit higher up the ridge in the morning where the swirling wind pushes your scent up the ridge and out of it. often i've found these spots too high up though where you're out of the action. those puffer bottles are your friend and will tell you when you're high enough. if bucks are chasing and staging along the gut you might get lucky. sorry for the novel.

Moral of the story buy an RTIC equivalent cooler instead of a Yeti Hopper. I've used mine with no complaints. I like it over the hard coolers because it's light weight vs lugging around a mini kayak. My parents are still using there's with no complaints. They got theirs by fishing it out of the gulf. It was just floating there, miles out. Rinsed off the salt water and washed it out. Slightly faded but works just as good as my "newer" one. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

NDA booth (aging on the hoof trail cam photo matching board was to the right). Other photo is of the local DEC ECO over the dunk tank. Which wasn't a bad job considering the heat. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -

Some photos of the event. Once it started about 250 people came through the door that day. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
First pigeon taken (eventual after many shots) with a Daisey lever action BB gun. First muskrat taken with a pellet gun do remember the make or model (took several shots to the head and neck). First squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, (and probably chipmunk) taken with an tube fed 22LR semiauto with a fancy engraved stock (Winchester Model 77??). First crow and 'dead right there' pigeon taken with a Winchester Model 1897 12ga. First whitetail (a 6pt buck) taken with a Winchester Model 94 lever 30-30. First coyote and woodchuck taken with a Remington Model 7600 30-06. First whitetail doe and first whitetail with a bow taken using a Buckmaster compound bow. I've got a non gun owner friend that I've mentored and taken out shooting different types of guns. I went with him to pick out what ended up being a winchester xpr bolt action rifle in 6.5 creedmoor. I'll likely get him and I both dialed in at the range soon. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

All mounted up. Level and torqued to spec. Contact was pretty good with the Talley mounts so no need for lapping the rings. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Multiple f150s, gmc Sierras, an early 2000s ram 1500, and even a Honda Ridgeline (if considered a truck). 1st silverado now but they're more or less a gmc. No legitimate issues with any of them. Some were even salvage title vehicles. YMMV is definitely a real thing. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Been a while but Nightmare has landed again up north. Tastes like a creamy, sweet cantaloupe, of death. 11.5% triple shouldn't be this drinkably smooth and delicious without any bookings. Nightmare Mizuharitsuke! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

So has anyone changed their mind yet about which brand truck is better? Hahaha Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

New York State Hunters Facing a Lead Ammo Ban

Thought about the lehigh controlled chaos stuff but not sold yet on the fragmenting berger like idea. Only because I process my own deer though. Energy dump and expansion at lower velocity I like. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
My cousin has a durango SRT 392 suv. He's told me mpg is over rated and that it's about the "smile per mile". Funny how when we "ride together" guess who's usually driving with wear/tear and mpg a real thing? Haha Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

My silverado I posted a picture of doesn't even come with auto start stop or its permanently disabled. It doesn't say it on the gauge either like my wife's Chevy SUV does. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

I'm cheap but new trucks are nice. 6 months ago I got a 2020 silverado 1500 custom (basic) crew cab with standard length box. Being the custom im not sure different add ons it has but there's an interior package, exterior appearance package, and trailering at least. It's the V6. Same performance numbers as the smaller V8 in my 2013 GMC work truck it replaced and that's enough. I don't tow much that's anything significant with regularity. Friend with big motor truck and I in mine towed 2 place trailers with a couple sleds last winter up over hogback Mt out this way. We'd both make it to the trail lot promptly but he got 4 mpg and I got 16.7 mpg. Mine truck was a lot cheaper too. I feel some like myself can't justify paying big money for much more than what we really need. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

New York State Hunters Facing a Lead Ammo Ban
dbHunterNY replied to Grouse's topic in General Hunting
All those benefits make sense and seems to be science backed. What isn't covered so much is concerns of minimum velocity for that flower looking expansion being much high with non-lead ammo vs lead. I feel like you're pushed to go with a lighter bullet for more speed to allow for this expansion and weight retention would be equal to what heavier lead bullet you would be normally using. Nonlead choices are definitely more expensive and BC sucks compared to lead options. That's my gripe. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
Crazy thing is that with the one loose base the gun still held right around MOA groups. I think if it took any decent bump I would've easily lost my 200 yard zero. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

I know DEC big game unit staff are on here at times. He's definitely a busy guy so I would never hold him to it. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
It was delivered. glass seemed decent with edge to edge clarity. Seems very light weight but I don't know if I should say cheap feeling. Clicks aren't hard and solid but tactful enough to know they happened. Didnt come with dust caps. Went to mount it up and had a set back. Front scope base was lose and then broke the head off the screw with very little effort when I tried to reinstall everything and torque it to specs. Gotta make a fastenal or hardware store trip now. I know some brought and took mounts and stuff back home with them. I believe they are trying to have a museum type of space and educational stuff with a permanent home. Biggest thing would be to follow the group on Facebook to see when events are. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -

Quality Deer Management Association QDMA during covid joined with National Deer Alliance. Together they're under a new name called National Deer Association NDA. So I had the NDA/QDMA table at the end. Few educational posters and some magazines on the table. Also had display boards setup like a matching game. Match the trail cam pick or jawbone with correct age and a light will light up. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
