I have a lot still to do but it's mostly for out of state hunts. I feel like once in a while you overhaul your gear more than a normal year. This is one of those years for me. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

It's definitely awesome that bow designs are gravitating toward tunability. I just setup a bowtech realm x finally. Every bow I setup I first set everything to spec and for laughs see if I can get it to tune with what should be the ideal center shot and everything as it would be with paper specs. I have yet to setup a bow that can be made to tune as theoretically should. Always have to tweak center shot/rest, induce a little cam lean with yokes, shim, or something. I don't upgrade as much anymore but the new bowtechs and elites with these tuning features are definitely on my radar. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Live from the rifle range
dbHunterNY replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Had intentions to make it to rifle range but never did. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
Most to the time I'm hiking in with climber on my back. So I use a bow mounted quiver. Tight-spot is the way to go. Features work well with mechanicals or fixed. Adjusts to each individual arrow to fit perfectly. Also you can't get a quiver that mounts better and tighter to your bow to maintain balance. Never know when a wall to or from your treestand turns into a spot and stalk. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Everything has been in overdrive right now. I was happy to get the buildings manned to keep them open. Wished I had more pictures of the rest of the exhibits. Tons of educational stuff. People tend to show up to see the bone on the wall though. Bucks on the wall are local to that county only with a vast majority being from the past deer season. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

There would be not way we could have something there. Even if closer. 18 days of manning a booth would be really hard. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Better consult the Fairy. You'll never kill anything with that kind of flight. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Check the heart and save it to eat if it's not shredded. Lungs not really but they're in view when everything comes out of chest cavity. Kidneys can be assessed for fat on them as a metric for deer herd health and food availability. Liver looked at too as its a filter for bad stuff. TB, parasites, etc can all show up in deer liver. Some no concern other stuff is. I don't and won't eat liver. I've got a shopping bag full of it in freezer if someone wants it. lol Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

They should come automatically. Kind of weird. I actually get two in mail. I've sent them both in together. X'd one completely out. Sent a letter with them. Didnt matter still got them both. Now I just fill them both out because I'm not sure what one has the longer record. I'm going on year 6 or 7 maybe. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

I've been eating garbage food lately. Fair food manning the National Deer Assocaition booth at Washington County Fair. Tonight is local Chinese food place at the request from the wife. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

bow is hung at head height and most of the time in my lap holding it. i don't need that kind of movement and time consuming steps when a deer appears out of thin air.

Does anyone let snowmobilers cross their property?
dbHunterNY replied to left field's topic in General Chit Chat
we don't have an official club trail but we've always had someone passing through. it's weird the older people stop to talk, ask, offer a beer, etc. the younger ones don't even make eye contact and they'll rip through a field with less hesitation without asking. lol sad. they don't understand the situational gifts their given. -
kind of funny i bought BH209 and CCI mag primers. It's been used very little since not through any fault of the setup. I'm still using 250gr SSTs but i'll never understand when and when not it gives me a blood trail. I've seen blood from buckets to seemingly like any drop evaporated before it hit the ground. always behind the shoulder but looking at skinned hide ribs or not it didn't seem to correlate. MOA and under accuracy though. A guy I know hunts all over and hosts a TV show based out of WNY. he switched to barnes expanders for a while for that reason. not sure now though as he touts CVA stuff.

every year i have a massive list that isn't related to my hunting alone. only thing different this year is that for myself I'm hoping to tag out in KY with a rifle, OH with a bow, and WNY or Albany with a bow within my 10 day roadtrip. looking for mature bucks in the first two and at least 3.5 years old here in NY. not an easy task but what the hell if i come up a little short i'm still doing good. lol

Happy bday guys

we have very few bears up in 4C. People do take some but not in large numbers. If ones around the orange army spots them. Down here in Albany where I work I feel like there much more common. Dumpster bears I call them. Not long ago DEC "relocated" a nuisance bear for the 3rd and last time close to the SUNY Albany campus.

Good thing about family farm or acres of your own land... disposal isn't a hassle. Now I've only got a little over an acre so I typically make it a point to head to the farm which is only 12 or so minutes down the road. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

My parents when I was baby bought a general store with commercial grade processing stuff (grinder, bandsaw, etc). Since I was old enough to do any task I watched and helped process deer. It was more a community thing bringing them under one roof and doing lots of deer at once. Then as an adult that's an engineer which over thinks everything I always payed attention how others doing things and evolved how it's done and experimented. Much of the original equipment is still working and at the farm but I've gotten my own stuff from knives to big stuff mostly for convenience. I've learned what makes a difference and what you can get away with by the time it hits the dinner table. Hell I've still learned a few things from an butcher that helps do a demo for our Field to Fork program. Thats after around 25-27 years of a pile of deer each year between mine and others. I rarely do out of state hunts that force me to get one processed. This year might be different when heading out on a roadtrip. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
