With only a BB under your belt for any kind of animals harvest with a bow i would stick to the rifle. Not a slam but i believe if you have a 300lbs bear looking at you sideways and all you have is a stick and string in your hand you may need a shorts change at the least. Take the gun and know you can handle pretty much any encounter you may get lucky enough to get.

Reminder: Extra DMP's available tomorrow
Four Season Whitetail's replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
Oh you dont know the ones that shoot a doe in say 6G and put a 8H tag on it? I know it happens and i would bet it happens ALOT! -
It comes from a deer farm in Michigan. Its the real deal fresh off the farm. If you can afford the price i would say give VS-1 a shot. That is some top notch doe in estrus lure. Pricey but a little goes a long way.

You may want to read up on the USDA indemnity program. You really think after 15 years of whitetails i dont know what my rights and laws are? You can read those same words in every state that has had to pay for every depopulation. Its not state level.

Very Nice!

I like to shoot the whitetails that are as big as moose so i will keep Mr Wby. lol
-
Not anymore..Do some research..Its no longer depopulation..Its now Management and why is that you ask...Its because they have to have an appraiser come in and appraise they value of your deer, Well with todays animals you are talking way up in the thousands apiece. The states are now not wanting to fork out the million dollars per farm average that has been the norm in the past. Heck if that was the case i would welcome it with open arms...Ny state can buy my place for a cool mill and keep the fences up to keep any animals out for years and years to come, while at the same time other states, like Wind Cave are letting the same disease that Ny just paid a million for walk out of their gates into public hunting grounds. I say bring it on! Just an FYI for ya...The farm in Iowa that just sold out for over a million had to have an appraiser come in and price their deer. Well the state of Iowa did not like the total of pennies that guy came up with so the state hired their own...Well the joke was on them because their appraiser came back with a higher value for the animals than the farmers appraiser had on them. LOL.LOL.LOL

Yeah i would have to call bull on this one. Although i do agree to a point but i hunt 100acre fields and massive long range shots at big whitetails can happen at any time. My 300Wby Mag gives me the punch needed to anchor them out there to the 500yd range. But you are right when they get to the 100yd and less mark. You want to make sure you punch a hole in the rib cage when they get that close.

First Mature Buck Shows Up!
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Thats what its all about right there. Here is hoping he finds a hot lady during daylight hours and she takes him for a walk past your favorite stand! -
AHHH You now see that facts do nothing for those that have an agenda and will listen and believe nothing that does not come from themselves. The kicker on this thread was the one that says....I want to stop the spread of CWD but i only want to stop the 1 cause that may be helping the movement, and thats whitetails! If that does not spell it out for everyone that reads this thread how for most its not the disease...Its the deer. Lets not worry about all the other vectors as long as we stop this one... Glad to see you are learning the who's who on here. Didn't take ya very long.

How many is too many - coyotes
Four Season Whitetail's replied to catskillkid's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Well buddy,,Not sure where you get your science but just because your math adds up at your place does not mean it works at mine. When you have yotes trying to run kids/hunters off their harvest while they are gutting them..You have a problem. Thats just a start. I can tell you that my farm went from being tops in the area to being void of living creatures Until i declared war and now if you would like to go look in the harvest thread you will see what you can now see on my properties.again! You are a fool if you think those things cant grow out of control. Trust me.The same 3 or 4 on here that think they are at the head of the class are really showing what they dont know. If you are one of the ones that like to read the books thats fine but myself, i have property for my family and friends and im not going to let some vermin ruin it for anyone. The lucky ones that get to use my properties know all to well just how great things are. And will continue to be! -
How many is too many - coyotes
Four Season Whitetail's replied to catskillkid's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
This was brought up before i believe but i will say again. I have about 60,000 acres of military base across the road from my farm that is totally unhunted for yotes. Unlimited supply if you will. When i can have dogs out and run down up to 20 yotes on a weekend..I have a problem. For a few years you could count on getting shots at yotes anytime you went hunting. You can laugh all you want but i can promise you that if left uncontrolled like they are around here and the numbers there are, They will ruin your land of all living things. Including Whitetails. The ones that dont get brought down and ate are ran off the property but the biggest problem for a few years were no fawns. That many dogs will take out a fawn crop year after year. I would tell anyone with a dog problem to deal with it regardless of what someone else says. The people that try and tell me how to manage my land and what i should harvest have a track record showing they cant manage their own. Thanks anyways, I have that covered nicely! City boys that owns no land and has no clue about the real world of how to manage a property or the problems that go along with it should stick to the reading the books. -
How many is too many - coyotes
Four Season Whitetail's replied to catskillkid's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
The picture is clear. If they are on my property they are a threat to my livestock. They harass, they chase, they dig and they kill. If they are on my farm, they are around my livestock and a threat..Not just my deer. and that opens the door for killing on sight. Just because i am also saving the wild herds i work and pay so hard to keep..Well thats just a plus for them. -

You did squat my friend. I have the law on my side and 365 days to protect my animals. I will take a pic of the econ officer standing here checking out my bucks if he ever shows up.to write me a ticket for something he never saw me do and of which i have the right to do.....HaHa..Like thats going to happen..We have poachers that own the deer herd in most of this area at night and DEC is afraid to show up for calls to do anything about it...You are getting out of you league now! -

You have my name and address and phone number...Feel free to stop by or call anytime and i will show you my land.owned by me and ran by me! When you or the state start paying my bills you can preach your bullshit to me. You may also want to talk to your econ officer when you call him and ask him what rules Ny state farmers get to use when it comes to farms and yotes. -
I have a great friend in Pa and he sells 55 gallon drums of urine to Tinks and Code Blue. They also bottle a product called Pure Heat. Him and John Bacon here in Ny are the only 2 guys that i know of that sell 100% pure estrus lure. Many say they bring the does into estrus by limiting daylight. Not sure how that really works but i can tell you these 2 guys do it right and they seperate the does, they put cidr's in them for 14 days and they use pmsg on the does when they pull the cidr's. This will put those does in 100% pure standing heat ready to be bred in 59-62 hours, they only collect from these does and bottle it. Many just collect from a group of does and maybe if you are lucky 1 of those does are in ready. Its not the scent per say that brings a buck in on the run, its the pheromones and you cant get those with a doe that is not in season 100%. All scents are not created equal.

Yes good with numbers..So now do me a favor and add up say 12.000 deer farms across the country suing the Govt for property rights say to the tune of 5 million for each farm and an industry that has enough money to afford the best lawyers to run that battle. Ny state mulled over the thought of shutting the Ny industry down and if your real curious as to the outcome of that conversation and what chances they had and the repercussion that would follow feel free to call Dr David Smith at the Dept of Ag in Albany. Im sure he would give you the answer to that question? You guys really need to freshin up on agriculture laws and what can and cant be done. The only way the Govt can do anything is if there is a threat...As you saw, some tried to use CWD as that threat and failed. Carry on!

Dont be fooled Stevie...Money and industry strength talks. When you can have auctions and sell 80 animals for 2.4 million dollars 5,6,7 times a year..People listen. Hunters are our driving force...Now just sit in your chair there and think about this for a second... You have thousands of deer farms across the country right? Pa has 1200 alone..and i wont even include Texas to be easy on ya. Now lets say the average deer farm raises 20 shooter bucks a year to ranches across the country and now mind you farmers pay tens of thousands of dollars for breeder stock to make better bucks to send to these ranches...If we did not have hunters backing wouldnt all of our 1000's of farms be stuck with some expensive pets and no where to go with them??? Trust me when i say right now...and its not even November yet..You would be hard pressed to find an antlered buck for sale on any farm in Ny state alone! And if you did...He would be worth double of what he was worth last month. Dont be fooled into thinking this is not a driving force just because its not at your house>>>
