  1. Going out with the xbow in the morning before work... Haven't hunted this 5 acre suburban piece in a couple weeks. Across the street is a swamp but I'm behind a row of houses where the deer historically like to hide during gun!!
  2. A couple places I hunt I have to make sure I pattern the does first. I also make a couple scrapes and continuously doctor up scrapes throughout the pre rut and rut. As someone else said if it's pressured make sure you know the escape routes and sit in between bedding areas for the bucks. Good luck!!
  3. If I'm alone I'll call it a hunt. One deer is enough unless i have help. If I'm hunting with someone i will respect their hunt and keep sitting it out...
  4. Barely any shots so far when yesterday was like the 4th of July. Had a yearling just come through... Glad she got my boot scent and turned around otherwise the idiot neighbors would've blasted her with 5 rounds.. Good luck all
  5. My hearing protection tonight... Fortunately/unfortunately I didn't shoot...
  6. Out of likes but keep it comin!!!! Still upset the neighbors crossed the property line without telling us to track a fawn they blasted the leg off of.. Uncalled for especially at 830am on opening day!
  7. Had a doe group come through around 730 i was gonna shoot the biggest until i saw a buck behind them.. 2.5 year old 8 pt... Swung around to scope the buck and the doe blew. Wasn't about to shoot a running 2 year old buck opening day. Not to mention i was on the ground and they were all inside 20 yds. Really exciting tho. Good luck all...
  8. Sure if they ask but they didn't even ask they just walked right over probably 200-300 yds onto our property until they saw me and turned around... BS
  9. 2 Neighbors came a couple hundred yards onto my cousins property. They saw me and turned around. They did shoot a deer that ran by me with 3 legs about an hour ago... Amateurs. Not very happy. They'll be hearing from us
  10. Tons of action most shooting I've ever heard. Got busted by a buck, i was still trying to figure out which buck and age, then 2 fawns walked towards the neighbors. FAWNS... 2 shots and then 1 comes running by with 3 legs bleeding everywhere. I had no shot. Not very happy
  11. Hell yeah Rob i had a giant walk right past one of my cams on Tuesday at 1230pm and made a huge scrape. The cam is about 300 feet behind my friends house lol. Hoping he comes by again this weekend...
  12. I thought this too when i bought them. Having always shot muzzy, I noticed they would snag a deer and for this I am still using regular muzzy trocar fixed
  13. My cams got daytime buck pics last weekend and this week. Big scrape popped up where it usually does right outside doe bedding... What is the rut doing in your area? Peak? Tailing off?? 8H
  14. Double up on merino wool base layers.. Cabelas wooltimate vest to keep the core warm... Cabelas wooltimate windshear pants, bibs, jacket, and parka.. And if it's really cold I'll throw my blaze orange Gamehide parka over wooltimate clothing. I dont like bulky gloves so I prefer those Under Armour cold gear liners and I'll keep my hands in a muff on stand.... I've learned to avoid cotton and block out the wind as much as I can!!!
  15. Went out for an hour tonight there were tracks everywhere most of them fresh from daytime today. They must've all moved mid day cause i had a huge scrape pop up. Checked the cam in that spot and there is a brand new big fat buck that came through at 12:30pm today. Going out in the morning before work!!!!
  16. I hear ya. Open hardwoods especially now with minimal leaves the vertigo looks great
  17. I wish they still made Vertigo camo. Haven't seen it in years. It's kind of off white-ish in color. When i see it go up on eBay used it sells very high. Gamehide makes a cover-up pattern snow camo that I wear because i like to sit on ridges too. Shot a couple deer that way and they had no idea i was there...
  18. Live from my office. Saw one of my shooters this weekend at 75 yds not interested in any calls or rattling in my area. He was pretty much like a zombie and acted deaf not responding to anything i did.. Walked right into bedding. Another shooter buck is bedding near the road where i park.. There's a thicket between houses and i noticed I'm getting him on my cam right before and after I'm on stand. Well when i pulled up at 530am he was standing next to the road before ducking back in... So yes looks like he's been playing me all season!!
  19. Remington 700 30-06.. Nikon BDC. My Mossberg 12 guage shooting sabots has 2 wall hangers but was shooting almost a foot low at 50 yds.. Maybe bumped the scope so that's gonna stay put away until I can get back to the range...
  20. Haha... Build the fortress. My wife on the other hand is not allowed to hunt with me. That's our healthy away time from eachother. My friend hunts with his girlfriend I hate when they join me.. All she does is wound deer because she doesn't practice much at all... So we track for hours and hours. I say if your wife kills deer then make accommodations for her!
  21. Use a OnX Hunt app to precisely know where the lines are. My cousin bought a house with 40 acres the previous owner had died. Well his buddies came to hunt it like they always had and the neighbor even had stands on the lines facing the main travel routes of our deer. We posted the lines heavy using OnX and played nice when we saw the neighbor cause you may have to track into his side remember
