  1. yes but if you opened up nyc to hunting, one of those subway rats could feed a family for a week!
  2. belo lests look at the contradictions in the different ny laws. in ny silencers, lets use the correct term surpressors, are illegal. in any factory setting osha regulates the noise level to keep hearing damage to a minimum, yet ny will not allow you to bring the noise level of a firearm below the same level. anyone who has done any volume of shooting understands the toll this sport takes on your hearing. after 2 rounds of trap, even with double protection on, my ears will ring for hours after. if you dont like that analogy, how about your muffler falls off your car. you pass the trooper, he tickets you for a loud exhaust. you shoot with a surpressor you go to jail for not making enough noise. the gun grabbers only care about taking bits of you 2nd ammed rights until there is nothing left to take. and a reason for a 90 round drum on an ak......a great big
  3. there are a couple of companies the sell 80% hand guns. aresarmor.com makes a 1911 80%er. bare casting, drill pin holes, finish the slide rails (all this done with a purchasable jig), assemble with your favorite parts kit and you have a 1911. since the frame is a bare casting there is no serial number. Ive also seen plans for a liberator pistol. home built in a similar manor as the home built ak's. print the plan, glue it to some sheet metal cut, fold, drill on the lines and you have a liberator frame. federal law of '68 allows this to be legal (for personal use, not for sale) but what do you think the new york stance is? no number so how do you register it? would you need a permit to have it in your home? this is all speculation of course.
  4. Ive not had a bad interaction with with officers while hunting, but the encounters do seem to come in waves. almost as if they sit an a meeting and say this week everyone target that area. i have gone 4 or 5 years with out ever seeing an encon then we get checked multiple times in a short span. the worst time was in michigan hill state forrest. it was the last week of regular season and we had filled our last 7m tag in the mornning. we had a few 7r tags so after lunch we headed to michigan hill. between rt 221 and the parking area on top we were stopped twice and checked. while we were unloading the truck we were checked a third time, and once we were in the woods 2 of us got checked a forth, not bad for an afternoon. 4 different officers, obviously looking for something or someone. The oddest encounter was in the st lawerance. we went up to see a friend of ours, and the 4 of us decided to go sight seeing by boat. after a few hours we were pulled up on and the officer asked to board our boat. our friend who owned the boat denied the officer. at that point the office became testy and started his im the law attitude when a second officer asked why. our friend then told him we were at capacity and the 5th person would put us over. the second officer laughed brought one person onto his boat, did the inspection, and sent us on our way. when i asked our friend what that was all about he said that was a type of sting they use to see if everyone on the water knows all the laws. when the officer steps on board a full boat he writes the ticket for over capacity. he knew by expirience.
  5. I look at it as everybody taking their turn, hunters for 1/3 of the year other outdoor activities the other 2/3s. plus many non-hunters (or hunters for that matter) dont understand the concept of orange during hunting season, so its just safer keeping the 2 activities seperate.
  6. From what i gather cornell is still a preregister, with each area (something like 26 or 27 different sections) having its own set of rules about what you can hunt, and how. We stopped hunting there a few years back because of different rules for different sections, it got a bit too confusing so we left. But if you want meat for the freezer there are sections you can take i thinks its up to 2 doe a day, so it does create some great options for feeding the family! Just have to learn the rules, and know what sections are what.
  7. mmmm ill skip the parsley, i dont like my coworkers to close!
  8. With that many people around unaware of what your doing would make me think twice about pulling the release/trigger. Cornell does something smart (odd for cornell), the state land they manage near ithaca is off limits to non-hunters during deer season. makes for a much safer hunting area. The few times ive hunted it the deer still seem content moving at night. in my part of chenango, the state lands are getting allot of 'night pressure' and im finding that the deer find a hole and stay put unless it snows or they are stepped on. day or night.
  9. that is by far the best answer ive gotten to my question. thanks for filling in some of the blanks.
  10. So now police aren't citizens? Any way, the safeact has no exemptions for law enforcement. So right or wrong they are illegal, period. this will be an aclu civil rights case before all is said and done. And when mogadishu is part of new york i'll make the same statement.
  11. our take on it is simple, build a rue (fry some flour in butter til light brown), add a good amount of milk and cook at med heat until it begins to thicken stirring constantly. add leak greens and a very sharp chedder, stir til melted. if its to thick add milk, too thin cook longer. i dont measure things in (thats how my grandma taught me). after you try it a couple of times you can play with different cheeses, more or less leaks, or add other spices to the butter like paprika, curri powders, pepper powders, what ever tastes you like. hope this helps.
  12. she's a beut! kinda out of my price range, they are a great old gun! let your pops know as of friday the sale has to run through an ffl.
  13. nope. semi auto shot gun with detachable mag. period. this is how terrible the law is, saiga 223 (unmodified) non aw. saiga 12, 20, 410, same gun with a different caliber, aw. crappy law.
  14. corned beef for a birthday dinner! enjoy!
  15. corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and taters in the pot! mmmmmmmmmmm.... is it 4 pm yet?
  16. Whats your take on the you build hand guns? legal to build, but are they legal to own, with or without a permit (new york)? no serial number? the law on this is about as clear as mud as well.
  17. thats why i have stated i every responce to this post, lay out your plan and consult an ffl agent. hector is right EVERYONE is reading this differently. which it why its such a bad law. the way i see it is if he builds a 50bmg (single shot) on an olympic lower it should be legal. however since its built on a named derivitive lower, does it have to be registered and who determines this? before you build lay out your plan and consult an ffl agent.
  18. the moral of the story? always know your backstop. and the press are idiots.
  19. try sttny.com they ummm specialize??? in squirrels. check out there squirrel sports section.
  20. page 18 lines 12 through 23 lists by name. as it is not under scored it is from the '94 law. colt and it's duplicates and copys are included. as stated before, how come so many were sold legally for the last 20 yrs? contact a ffl rep before building.
  21. good to know. i thought about putting berry bushes in the yard. if it may help with the nastys will have to do it this year. thanks
