Well sort of. '94 bill stated any copys or duplicates of the colt AR15 were illegal. ummm how many have been sold legally in ny since then? same goes for the aks. no new guns were stated in the new law but cuomos web page states many.... contact an ffl agent before you build one.

thats why you need to check with an ffl agent. a stripped lower is nothing more then a serial number. now if you assemble a lower, and put a 50 bmg upper on it, its a single shot. if you add no butt stock with an 8 in. barreled upper its a hand gun. if its a fully assembled lower with a collapsible stock, removable mag, 223 upper with a forward grip, flash supressor and gernade launcher, its a felony. decide what you want to build then run it past an ffl agent.

"may only be sold to, exchanged with or disposed of to a purchaser authorized to possess such weapons or out of state". At the time of the exchange there was no nics check required to verify "authorized purchaser" to make an exchange. this is going to be a reoccurring with this law. those who wrote it and enforce it dont know it. until it either fully implemented of over turned in the courts many more bad arrests are soon to come.

as i said in a previous post. the ar 15 falls under '94 law, not the safe act that was reported. he was arrested on the ar 10 sale.

i saw a colt ar in a gunshop that had many of the no-nos on it i asked about the legality of it he said it was a bullet point ar. the mag dose not have a release lever on it taking it out of the classification of semi auto, detachable mag. the gun needs a tool such as a bullet point (hense the name) to remove the mag. barrett also makes a cali compliant m82 with the same system. or pull the gas tube, thread the port, and plug it. you would no longer have a semi auto (cycle it with the charging handle). The best thing to do is contact an ffl agent (the guys who audits the gun shops) and find out if one of these or any option is legal.

Ford i took your advice and reread the safe act (not the faq on cuomos page). pg 20 sect h, any weapon made illegal by this law must be 'disposed' of within one year of the law taking effect. he was doing just that. this applies to the ar 10 in the artical the one he was arrested for.

no not tasers. how much tear gas was pumped into the room before they entered? flash bangs? robot on site. was the room evaluated first? or did they send the dog in to be killed and while the dirt bag was preoccupied with the dog did they take him out? he was pinned in for what 12 to 14 hours why didnt they leave him there for 24, 48, or however long it took to save the dog and get the motive answers that are missing in every single one of these cases? am i upset he was taken out ? no. but without motives the true violence problems cant be addressed, and we get the shaft both gun owners and victims alike.

bad reporting..... the ar15 had 3 add ons, the sale was made in jan. so it fell under the '94 law.('94 penalty) now the ar10 was a fully legal transaction. the firearm as stated had only the pistol grip, which makes it legal to own (we have until next early year to dispose of or register). the private sale happened thursday the 14. no nics check required. that started today the 15th. hi cap mags? they were owned before the act. as long as they had no more then 7 loaded (or were dated to prove manufacture date) legal. So everyone is under the assumption the police know the law and are always right. you would think if they were looking to prove a point they would have at least made a clean arrest. this is only going to piss people off more. now that there is one bad arrest how elevated is the danger going to be on the following arrests regardless if the good or not? bad things on the horizon.

im not against the police capping his can, but i wonder if all non lethal means were exhausted? its easier to blame the gun when all other reasons are silenced. is that why cuomo was there?

they have its called the international small arms treaty. its been brought up in the un every 6 months or so. so far its been voted down, but its only a matter of time before it becomes a real problem for the 2nd ammendment.
