will a different winch fit
tuckersdaddy replied to ants's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
everything will fit with a sawzall and welder! the winch that came on my polaris was made by warn (dont know if it was factory or dealer option), the no name i put on my trailer came with slots rather then holes so it was more 'universal' in the mounting. best bet would be take your winch off, measure the mounting holes, go to tractor supply, lowes, harbor frieght, open some boxes and see if any will bolt straight up. -
elbow grease and sand paper on a block. sand a light taper in it starting from the grip forward. mark the end grain with a pencil as a guild, remove the stock, sand away. when it gets close attach the stock back on check fit. repeat until good. use good sand paper start course (60grit) when it starts getting close switch to 120 grit, finish with 220, a bit time consuming but well worth the effort. another hint, start with one side, then the other, finish with the top. aftermarket stocks are kind of like kids toys at christmas, some assembly required until reengineering is needed!

orrrrrr.... was watching kipkay tv (my oldest sons favorite show) and he took apart an old camcorder, mounted the actual lens camera part onto something else, a hat i think, extended the wires, put the rest of the camera in his pocket. maybe????

Kid or not im sure if hes working on a farm im pretty sure hes busting his butt more hours a week than you or i. I wasnt stabbing at anyones lifestyle, just the get out of my way im going to make this happen attitude is very refreshing. something thats becoming lost in our society. Same thought procsess you have, or your would just buy your meat at the butcher. This is one of those culture differances with up state down state. if you needed a lawn shed for your mower you go to the amish store down the road and buy one. when i needed one my kids and i got out the tools, spent the weekend and just as much money building what is probably the same shed. the question is whos the richer for it? once again great to see redneck enginnering in action!
-
stupid questions? those are questions we might be able to answer! welcome aboard!
-
great piece of homebrewed redneck enginering! if more people went to the shed rather then there checkbook..... no offence to biz, but if more youngster were this creative our society would be a more 'get out of the way so i can get this done' rather then when is someone going to do this for me... congrats on a great project... so when are building the gun??? now that would be a fun project!

most of my hunting electronics (cameras, radios, optics) i use the cheap alklines and swap them out often except for my gps... that i use nothing but lithiums and swap them out often. keeps my 'nature walks' to a few hours rather then an all day event! yep learned the hard way!

i have an older galaxy s, seems to work great for a non tech me. couple of apps i found thati like... turkey, duck, goose and coyote calls. cant use them in the woods but its fun to mess with the dogs! brightest flashlight. very handy. strelok ballistics. never needed it in the woods but a ton of information. converterpad. very handy for all sorts of conversions, metric to standard, sqaure feet to acres, grains to grams, its about endless. gpsspeedomet. gives speed, direction and elevation. found it handy in the boat. all of these apps were free. another battery saving hint, where we are at (especially in the woods) cell service is in and out. our phones will kill a battery in a couple of hours searching for signal. if you put it in airplane mode when you have no signal, or your signals in and out, the phone stops searching for a signal and it saves the battery until you get out of where your at. (that trick works on all cell phones)

the last couple of years we arent managing the bucks, they seem to be managing us! there is quality is this neighborhood, you just cant be tempted by the youngsters. we hunt just southwest of norwich and its tough to let 4s and small 6s go hoping for better... get out in the field as early as possible (bow through muzzle) and you will be rewarded! my brother in-law spent every day in his stand over his food plot (yes every day, the advantage of working 2nd shift with no kids) and passed on alot of deer. it was thursday of muzzle loader when he shot his 8pt. patients will be rewarded. coon if the turkey numbers are dropping in your part of chenango get out and shoot some yotes...the past couple of years we have hunting the yotes pretty heavy and our turkey flocks, pheasant, and grouse populations are the highest ive ever seen. maybe luck but it makes for some fun outings! if you need seed, Page seed in greene has seed tolerant for this area.

thats odd. if it was a stock unmodified sks it dosent fall under the safe act on 2 couunts, fixed mag, over 50yr old. what is cuomo's fact sheets not telling us??? police use only??? i thought the law gave no law enforcement excemptions? i cant tell if im getting more confused or irate. by the way, how was the coffee? lol

Best All Around Small Game Caliber?
tuckersdaddy replied to Rev Ev's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
depends on your hunting area. we hunt alot of close up brushy areas, and you cant beat a shot gun for under 50 yards. yotes at night close in, very effective. wood chucks? how long are your fields? at 250 yrds or less any of the 22 cal centerfires will serve you well. (i use a 222 rem) longer fields need a more umpf. getting into 6 or 6.5 mm mags will get you out to the 1000 yrd ground hogs and dogs. so a t/c with multiple (6 or 7) barrels may be the best choice! -
Registering for Confiscation
tuckersdaddy replied to nybuckboy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
well doc it doesnt quite work like that......yet. right at this point and previous the back ground check tells the ffl if your eligable or not. the records are kept at store level unless a specific serial number is traced or an ffl goes out of buisness. we are at the crossroads that albany (maybe washington) wants those data bases. they cant go to the gun stores and out right take them (obama tried it in some southren boarded states and was denied) so they are attempting to create there own. hand guns ..check. semi autos.. check. which will be next, long guns or shot guns. then its personal property tax time until no one can afford them. liabilty insurance is just foreshadowing of things to come. this is why there is a rising backlash to ny gov. and ALL its departments. just remember, a disarmed society is a compliant society and it takes an armed society to correct this. im NOT a revolutionist or anarcist, im just a history buff and can offer no less then 8 past examples that an unarmed nation or group of nations needed our second ammend. rights to save there nations and way of life. thats why its so important to do everything we can to keep this from sticking or growing further. -
is it possible grisanti and others are possibly looking to try to minimize backlash from the safe act? hunting boycotts have been brought up as protest to the new laws and politions have been known to actually say whats going on around them.. by mistake of course.

Olympic Arms Press Release
tuckersdaddy replied to Dakota Dog's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
except half their inventory is not eligable for sale in NY. not being able to sell to the third largest market in the us and limited in the largest market (cali) will start to have an effect on sales. loss of market makes big corps start to ask question as to how to get it back. both glock and h&k are listed in cuomos no-no list by name. bad publicity also ruffles corp. feathers, my guess is you will start to see more participation from the majors, maybe not boycotts, but someone has to pay the lawyers, fund the campains and other back room what nots. and if a company doesnt support our cause, simply support someone else that does. Need a new deer rifle? barrett offers an 82a semi auto with a fixed mag. maybe over kill for deer but you thank those that helped you. -
i was at wally world the other night and noticed a sd card with built in wifi. has anybody had any expirience with these? was wondering if they would work in a trail cam so you could down load your pictures without disturbing the area.
