  1. That looks good Wolc! My wife’s father make a Quebec style Shepard’s pie called Pate Chinois. (I always thought that translated to “Shit in a Pot” but apparently it means “Chinese Pie”.) It was his one dinner dish to make on a week long fishing trip in Quebec and was actually pretty good. He usually used ground beef, but I’m sure venison would work just as well, if not better. https://www.tasteatlas.com/pate-chinois
  2. We should have a pinned ammo trading thread....
  3. Thanks Larry, he would take at least 5 boxes, up to 10 if they have them. I realize this is a long shot in the dark at this juncture. He has other slugs to use, and I have a bunch of Accutips for him too. He just likes this particular slug. I did see Accutips in my LGS a few weeks ago. I was shocked to see them!
  4. Hey all, my cousin is looking for these particular slugs : Winchester BR1 Sabots, 1 oz load. Anyone have a few spares you are willing to sell or trade? His Rem 1100 does not care for the Hornaday SST or the Remington Accutips. All over the board.......
  5. Hunt # 8, 10/18 4pm to 7pm, Apple orchard blind. No deer seen except for two that I busted up walking in. That is getting to be a very bad habit. Hunt # 9, 10/21 3pm to 7pm. I was invited to my cousins hunting camp in Chenango County for the weekend. It was great to be one some new ground and scenery. Busted three doe on the walk in (AGAIN) but it was early and I was hopeful at least one of them would return. No deer until 5:45 when a small doe walk up behind me. She came around and I had to completely turn around on the stand in order to get her in my sight. She cam to a stop and I drew, settled my pin and sent it. Arrow flew completely over her back and into the ground. She moved about 10 feet and just stood there. Lots of branches in the way and I had lots of time to reload. After 3 or 4 minutes, she slowly walked away. I had a good hour to figure out what I did wrong. First, I never reset my pin to the 15 yards she was standing at, I had it at 25 from my last 3D practice session. Second, I didn’t bend at the waist. Both things together account for the clean miss. Small silver lining, I didn’t have to track a badly wounded deer. Hunt #10, 10/22, 4pm to 7pm. Sat in the same stand as night before and only saw one hen turkey. No deer. Had a great time with my cousins and everyone else. They have a true hunters paradise there!
  6. Congrats Phade, getting headhunted must feel really good. Any good boss knows their best people are subject to leave or get better offers at some point.
  7. I think in Europe the common road language to get someone to get out of the left lane so you can pass is to turn on your left turn signal.
  8. Finally finished this stool for my grandson. And future grandkids! Sent from my SM-G990U using Tapatalk

  10. I was just in a Dollar Tree and saw Heinz ketchup mixed with Tabasco sauce.
  11. Hunt # 7, 10/14/22 3:30 to 7pm, Pond Blind Warm and sunny start until about an hour before dark when it got quite a bit colder. Nothing seen at all. I need to trim back some cattails so I can have a bit of a longer view. Walked back at dark and scared up two deer near Justins stand. I think I have busted deer walking back or in almost every sit so far. I am going to let it cool down a bit before hitting it a little harder 3rd and 4th week of October. No hunting 10/15 and 16 - family funeral in Long Lake and a long list of chores on Sunday.
  12. What are we putting it on? Makes all the difference in world. I use Tabasco a lot for mixing into marinades, etc. Franks mostly for wings.
  13. WooooHoooo!!! Go Orange!! Now the schedule gets a lot tougher!

  15. You are correct, I missed you were replying to biggamefish. My apologies.
  16. It’s for youngsters at a 4H learning to shoot. A donation is in order.
  17. I watched two of them, great stuff! Hope you hang a deer in that camp this year!
  18. Hunt #6, 10/12/22 4pm-7pm. Gorgeous afternoon with south wind, so Justins Stand could/should work. I’ve had consistent pics of late afternoon deer in this plot. Nothing moving until 6pm when three small deer came in 50 yards out, they just slowly feed until they were a good 150 yards away. Not sure why, but they decided to play and chase each other, at one point coming right under my stand at full speed and then to a dead stop, then 10 seconds later chase each other again. Had a good 10 minutes of this and I did enjoy watching it. Nothing else the rest of the night. I got a climber today and will be setting it up and practicing a bit before I break it out and try it in the field. Also got some accessories from Third Hand, so hopefully I will be able to make around a bit more this season. With the corn still up, warmer weather, and odd wind directions the last few days, I feel like all my usual stands are in the wrong spots.
  19. Hunt # 5, 10/9/22, 7am to 10am. Decided to wait until there was daylight to go in with the hope that I would not blow deer out of the pastures and fields. Did not work, blew out at least three deer before I got into the apple orchard blind. (New spot). Jason, I have your tall folding chair, it’s too dam high for this blind!!). Nothing seen, so moved to Pond Blind for one hour hoping I would get late movement from feeding to bed. Nothing. Really too nice of a day to be stuck in a blind, so I went back home and knocked off 4 or 5 honey-do items so I can hunt stress free in the coming weeks.

    209 Primers

My guy has 3200 of them. How many you want?

    209 Primers

@Cabin Fever They are Winchester primers. He verified they will work on any modern inline muzzleloader. Also as use for shotgun reloading, which is why he had them in the first place. Let me know. Or anyone else.
  22. I do prefer Deviled Ham. Middle school lunchtime staple.

    209 Primers

He just said 209 primers, not specifically CCI 209M. I’ll check with him and verify.
