I’ve been in towns like that in Northern Ontario and Quebec.

I may have missed it, but has the WNY Academy started yet? I organized a weekly bow shoot at my local gun club. Tuesdays from last week of August until last week of September. 25 Shots, 10 indoors at 20, then 5 at a ED buck from a standing position, then 5 from inside a blind at a sitting position, and final 5 from elevated tower. The last 2 spots you choose your target from a coffee can with various 3D targets set at different yardages and of various sizes - doe, coyote, raccoon, turkey, buck, etc. It’s been fun and great practice.

We stayed in Vancouver for 2 nights after our first Alaska cruise. The metro system was awesome, very easy to use and clean, safe, etc. We rented bikes and toured around Vancouver Park which was very nice. Lots of shops and nice views. That night we went to ChinaTown and had reservations at a sports bar. We went there and they said 20 minute wait, even though place only looked half full. Next door was a restaurant filled with Chinese people, so we ate there instead. We asked the table next to us to order for us and had one of the best meals ever. Every city has bad areas, just be aware and do some research before just going around town.

She led an incredible life. Condolances to the British Empire.

I have a tree that has purple figs. It is from a cutting of a tree my grandfather had in his greenhouse. My tree is loaded this year! I've love to have one of the green figs. Are they as sweet as the purple? Any way I could get a cutting? Sent from my SM-G990U using Tapatalk

We used propane tanks and screw on burners last year because the Coleman stove was too heavy and bulky for the canoe. They handled it with ease. Sent from my SM-G990U using Tapatalk

Looks like a great find! Enjoy that gun!

I just put 10 bushels of tomatoes in the basement. If I leave home over the weekend, my wife will probably kill me!

Sounds like a great trip, good luck, and tight lines all day and night!

@REDNECK4LIFE32 When we don’t have enough to fill the canner (ours holds 9 quarts) we just freeze those 3 or 4 jars and use those up first. Love your method of doing the hot water bath outside, we may do that this year! Beats all that heat and humidity in our downstairs kitchen.

Ordered online. They have a lot of hunting and fishing gear.

Use Salted Riccotta instead. But try the feta, not overpowering once baked.

This is by far my favorite stand, especially for archery. It has a huge deck to stand on, so perfect for bow time, but very comfortable seat and sturdy construction. Weight limit is 350#!! And still under $200. Plenty big enough for me and a lot of gear if needed. I have 3 out there now, and three more to assemble real soon. I buy it from Home Depot and pick up in store. If the box looks trashed I refuse it. But I’ve never had an issue. Much better than getting it by freight or UPS where they just drop it at the end of your driveway. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Big-Game-18-5-ft-x-1-5-ft-Hunter-HD-Deer-Hunting-1-Person-Ladder-Tree-Stand-BGM-LS0550/312525515

This was popular last year on Tic Tock. My daughter made for us a couple of times because it is so simple to do and very delicious. https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a35421563/baked-feta-pasta-tiktok/

Am I the only one who can't find decent sweet corn ??
Otto replied to Pygmy's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
A couple of tips from another sweet corn snob. Buy at a local farm stand and ask when the corn was picked. Freshest is best, but 1 or 2 days in the fridge won’t kill the flavor as much as back even 10 years ago. Wegmans does buy from local farms, but I know that the corn on the shelf may have been in their warehouse for 2 or 3 days before it comes out to the sales floor. Heirloom varieties are great as mentioned. But todays seed is not only modified for shipping and shelf life, but also for sweetness and taste. To cook - put your cobs in a large pot, add 2 inches of water to it. If you have a rack to lift corn out of the water, that’s good, but not imperative. Cover and let come to a boil. When corn has turned a bright yellow color it is done. Your are steaming it, not boiling it. Our family tradition is to eat corn after dinner. We turn the corn on when we sit down for dinner, by the time we are done with that, the corn is ready and comes out steaming hot. If you were closer, I would get you corn from our farm. I guarantee you would be satisfied with it! -
Rob, take some stiff pieces of styrofoam and section off the inside of it. And label each bay to show what goes where…..venison, beef/chicken, meat for sauce, fish, etc. Helps keep it organized.

When my Mother would make homemade bread, she would stretch that same dough, spread sauce on it, sprinkle lots of pecorino cheese (with the little black peppercorns in it) and then anchovies all over that. Boy do I miss that pizza!
