  1. Guess i sat in the wrong spot tonight! This is the buck i drew on last week. I was 50 yards away from him. I did see him a hundred yards away in the field, grunted at him and got his attention, but he would not cone to me. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  4. Rob what are you putting in your dripper?
  5. Phade, hope you are feeling better and can power thru the best part of the season. I always think I have nice bucks and then I am reminded what REALLY NICE bucks are from your pics!
  6. Hope 6 is your lucky number this year!
  7. I know a dog tracker in Central NY if you want to try that. PM Sent
  8. This is the stuff I use, works great and a lot less work. This plus a pin or needle.
  9. Great buck, congrats!!!!!
  10. Yes, it depends on where you are set up. I was in woods and when the sun went behind the trees it got dark quick. On a field edge with the sun more out in the horizon, it would stay lighter longer.
  11. I saw a 4 point in the field behind me around 4:30, then nothing until just about 6pm. Legal ended at 6:04, by 6:20 I’m not sure how someone could shoot safely. At least during archery, I think the extra half an hour really means an extra 10 minutes of safe light. Got down and saw 5 deer on the way back home. They are waiting till the last minute to appear. Cell cams have not shown any deer midday. Maybe after a cold dip tomorrow things will perk up,.
  12. I saw a nice one that has been around all summer just last week. But i have yet to see Crossover. I do have pics of him from Halloween, so still recently in the area. I'm not sure the rut has started in CNY just yet. I'm thinking next week. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  13. I don't usually name deer, but this one gets one: Crossover. I like how the front antler points crossover his brow tines. I would like to have a closer inspection!
  14. As exciting as my last hunt was, this afternoons was the complete opposite. Not a single deer sighted, even on the walk home. Hoping I will be out tomorrow afternoon as well.
  15. Good luck, hope you get him!
  16. Damn It all! I’ll pick you week 7 because you’ll come back all rested and ready for the woods. Just don’t injure yourself on any of those crazy rides like “It’s a Small World”.
  17. I can’t shoot instinctive either, I have been gap shooting with a fair amount of consistency. I am hoping with some more practice, I will be able to shoot instinctive. I plan to use the recurve in my bow league this winter. I’ll keep hunting with my compound for now. If you are happier with the rifle or MZ, then do that! No reason to force yourself, you may end up not wanting to hunt at all!
  18. I know, who would have thunk it? It was very good, but very rich. The recipe I followed had a layer of sautéed mushrooms underneath it all. MY wife hates them, so I had to leave them out. It is actually a Caribbean dish, I had it in Puerto Rico once and my Grandfather made it a lot. I would guess he picked it up from one of the Migrant workers on our farm. Back then, most of them were from PR and they cooked all their own meals. I do remember too that whenever we would catch carp, that we would give it the workers, who were very happy to get it.
  19. Are those olives in there? Otherwise looks just like my recipe….
  20. I wish I knew his travel schedule, so I am taking this one blindly…… but I am confidant that @The_Real_TCIII will be out in the woods sometime this week. He is my selection for week 6!
  21. A nice friend gifted me a package of walleye, so i made my Grandfather's famous dish: Fish with Bananas in a Cream and Butter Sauce. Other than my sauce falling apart, it was delicious and brought back lots of great childhood memories of fishing with him and providing a meal for the family. With homemade wine, natch. 22. Dam, I should have kept you on my roster! Congratulations!!

Fletch, if that doesn’t work out for you, I got a great guy in North Syracuse that has done excellent work for me. Kasten Hirsch.
  24. I actually bought a very small ultralight cot for this trip. It weighs less than 3 pounds and folds up into a nice compact package. When I set it up in my family room it was very comfortable so I was really looking forward to using it. Unfortunately on uneven ground it is practically worthless, the legs pop off as soon as you lay on it. I do plan to find one that will work but is small and light enough for a canoe trip. We have too much gear as it is, if I have to leave something back, I can manage a couple of nights on the ground. Once I found my position, it wasn’t too bad. I do have a self inflating ground pad which helps a lot.
