  1. It is not shown in this picture, but the three lines are for Bass, Walleye and Pike. I do have a printed out chart from Ontario Department of Ministries taped to the side of my fridge at the cottage.
  2. I have one of those on my boat!
  3. No worries brother! People picked me and I never tagged during the season. Still hoping for the Holiday hunt though. Hopefully that week will be a little easier for me to get out.
  4. Do you know if that applies to all areas of NYS? I believe Chamount Bay had no limit on panfish. Hopefully that changed.
  5. Nicely done Rob! Thanks for the work on it! Next year, I gotta pay more attention to people’s travel and doctors schedules! And congratulations to Bowman Mike!
  6. Last week I was gifted an old Griswold 12” pan from my nieghbor. She had 5 or 6 of them and was selling them at a garage sale, but wouldn’t name a price. When she moved out, she left it for me as a gift. (I just had to pay for the house and the land!) No rust or cracks, but it is filthy. I’ll be cleaning it up and adding it to the rotation soon.
  7. A bunch of us went to Couchiming Lake, which is connected to Simcoe. At the time they had big sleds and would pull you out onto the ice to a heated shanty. You could fish in the shanty or walk around wherever you wanted. At 4pm they would drive by and pick you up and bring you back to shore. We had all our own gear, but you may be able to rent some items if you need something. We stayed in a rental house. Had a great time and fought a ton of perch. This was maybe 20 years ago. Sorry not more helpful, but the whole area up there is tuned to ice fishing and guiding, so you should be able to find something with a little searching.
  8. Something to look forward to.....only 133 more days to go..... Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  9. Wet and foggy afternoon. Quiet enough for a still hunt on some new ground. Got about half way through 22 acres, hope to do the second half tomorrow, but it looks like the ground won't be as quiet as today's mud. Doe and fawn at sunset. No shot with a wet and foggy scope. 10. I have, but never plated. And plated makes it dinner and not just fast food. Fancy!
  11. Pick me up on the way there..... and @Fletch and @Robhuntandfishand @chrisw
  12. From 2 weeks ago, walking back home from a morning hunt. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  13. For my Grandfather born in Sicily in the year 1900, add in: born in abject poverty, with an abusive and violent father, emigrates to USA at age 21 with literal pennies in his pocket, digs ditches for 10 years before finally owning his own piece of land. Died at age 86 a multi-millionaire. God Bless the USA!
  14. My wife too, she made a cream sauce in it one night and I almost cried. But it did clean up. Told her to stick to the LeCrueset from now on....
  15. I think there is a PA girth chart for ducks too. I'll try to locate it.....
  16. I had a bootleg copy of a Springsteen concert when he sang Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I always enjoyed that. That tape was stolen, along with my car stereo while I was in college in Rochester.
  17. I’ve seen a YouTube video where they took a Lodge cast iron pan and ground the rough surface of the cooking area down smooth with a metal sanding pad. Then they seasoned it as usual. They claimed it had the same qualities as a 100 year old and well used pan. I do trust Wirecutter from the NYTimes. (Although not much on page 1 of that same paper). Anyway, they rate the Lodge Chef 12 skillet as their number 1 choice. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-cast-iron-skillet/ I have my great grandmothers cast iron, a Griswold made in Erie, PA. I’ll bet you could find one at an antique or flea market store there in WNY. That would be a great gift!
  18. Rob, I am putting together a winter skeet/trap league, every other Saturday at noon, Camillus Sportsmen’s Club, starts January 8th. If you want to brush up on wing shooting, the trap and skeet field is a good place to start! Even if you just want to come once in a while. We also have a Thursday night Trap league in the summer. Both are “fun” leagues, no commitments. I never did duck hunt this season, but we go to Cicero swamp in the early season and do ok there. Both mallards and woodies. We always hear a lot of shots coming from Oneida Lake though. We have not been on the lake duck hunting. We have also hunted Happy Valley WMA. There are several good ponds there, we have not even been on all of them. Your idea to sit on the edge hidden is what we do. We brush in a little three sided pop up blind or bring camo burlap and make do. Nothing fancy at all. We have canoed in so we can get onto the other side of the bigger pond too. We do set decoys and having ducks fly into your decoy is one of the coolest things in hunting. We have no dogs, so it is up to us (usually my buddy) to retrieve any we shoot. It’s a ton of fun! You can chit chat, move around and not be so worried about being busted by a deer you didn’t see behind you. As far as eating them, I would not be too worried about that. It would be no different that eating walleye out of Oneida Lake; I’m sure you’ve seen some of the things tossed (etc.) into the lake. And to top it all off - duck is delicious!!!! From the few pics I saw of your location, I would say you’ve got a great spot to try out a few times. And I am sure my buddy and I would be happy to join you sometime!
  19. @Robhuntandfish I have not hunted today so I am coming clean off the bench.....
  20. I am very sorry for your loss Cynthia. You are right when you say he is at peace now.
