I went one afternoon last weekend with my buddy and his two young kids. Heard one flock but they never came in. He went that morning and had two flocks circling but they would not land. Before hunting that day I was mowing my pasture fields and was within 50 yards of 10 geese lounging around the pond. I could have easily snuck up on them and taken out two or three. The same group were in the same spot the next day. I do love goose pastrami so maybe this weekend….

Welcome! I hunted a little bit last fall in the ADK and cant wait to go back this fall. Never saw a deer, but, I know there are a few around. Good luck to you this season, and remember, we like pictures!

I don't think I've ever seen trussed hot dogs before, but it looks like it works great! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I agree. And if he wants about 100 past months issues, let me know, because I’ve got a whole box of them!

Finally got to meet Wooly . And tribute to my brother.

Beautiful idea and such a great carving. Whenever I see a Monarch, it reminds me of my Dad. -
Happy Birthday Tacks! 50 is a nice round number, you're still young enough to be crazy, but old enough to know better. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Are you seeding barefoot? That’s the Amish way.

Good for you and congrats! That is an awesome looking bike!

I’m In! Sounds like fun and it will be cool to see tons of pics. Thanks Rob for running the show!

How could I forget - the number one pike lure is a Mepps Aglia #5. Caught plenty of walleyes on them too!

If the lake is stained with tannin and looks like ice tea, be sure you have lots of fluorescent colors, the brighter the better. And white too. One lake I fished up there, the best lure was a simple white paddle tail on a lead jig. Caught tons of walleye and pike, two of which were 15 and 18 pounds.

Why has no one mentioned how great caul fat is? @The_Real_TCIII

My cousin went with me to pick up cams he ordered shipped to store. Same cams on the shelf at 50% off, so he bought those and is going to cancel his original order.

I went to the Cicero store today, most hunting and fishing stuff is 50% off. I did get a new pop up blind and a few odds and ends. I spoke with a clerk and asked about the sale, he said once all this stuff is gone, it will be only an RV and camping store. (I think I read that here on another thread) I may go back tomorrow, but I am not really in need of anything at the moment. I may take a harder look at some of the guns, I didn’t really have time to look at that department.

Does anyone let snowmobilers cross their property?
Otto replied to left field's topic in General Chit Chat
There are no nearby trails that would need to access any of my property, so as a property owner I can see both sides of the issue. As a sledder, I am grateful when snowmobiling for the property owners that do allow it. On one section of trail, one of the property owners must not allow it even though there is a direct route to the other section of the trail. To detour, it puts all the sleds on the shoulder of a highway - pretty unsafe. I think there is maybe 100 yards of access needed to avoid this situation, but it hasn't happened. -
I have not sliced up as many deer as you have Larry, but we started doing it a few years ago mostly so we could get the cuts of meat as we preferred them. We watched a video from Dr Grant and just followed along as best we could. Like you said, hard to mess it up too much. We don’t have very much meat left to grind so we are doing okay I think. We do vac seal and that has worked well for us. On some of the larger cuts such as a shoulder or neck that we leave bone in, we do wrap in plastic then butcher paper.

Gotta finish Chernobyl first, another “uplifting” show.

I am a big fan of his, I especially enjoyed his books. I’ll look for the movie and be prepared for a bad ending.

The last one I bought was from Homedepot.Com. Free shipping, pick up in store. Which is better, ladder stands shipped to your house are often damaged or missing parts because the box was wrecked in transit. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

This stand is by far my favorite. For archery especially. It has the largest standing platform of any stand I’ve seen, including some double stands. The seat is very comfortable, the shooting rail folds up out of the way if you want, and the seat is very comfortable. I have a brand new one in the box sitting in the barn. If your stuck, let me know and we can make a deal. It will give me a solid reason to attend Academy!

Perfection in sandwich making!

Check the pocket of the coat you wore on your last hunt. That’s where mine was!

I love that stuff on toast with avocado spread.

Both are awesome mounts, but that archery one is really the bomb! Nicely done and looks like a man’s rec room for sure!
