Yeah, but I'm just a rickety little guy....You probably have balls as big as grapefruit and enough hair on your chest weave an army blanket....Hehehe...

I had an older A-5 3"mag...It was my first 3" 12 gauge and was an awesome waterfowl and turkey gun...It DID however, kick like a mule with 3" shells...That was back in the lead shot days, and most of the ducks I shot were with my 2 3/4" 1 1/4 Oz handloads...They were a pussycat to shoot..The only time I ran 3" mags through it was for turkey, geese, or long range pass shooting for ducks.. Damn...That was 50 years ago...<<sigh>>...

Call me a pussy, but OUCH !!….<<grin>>…...

Holy DUCK S**T, Batman !!!... That was a steal !!...

There was an interesting change in the Ontario turkey tags this year...Now instead of getting a plastic( or WHATEVER it is) tag similar to New York, you just get a paper computer printed tag... When you kill a bird, you simply notch out the date and time....As long as the bird stays in your possession, you do not need to attach to the bird...If the bird should LEAVE your possession before processing, you need to attach the tag to leg.. I like it..One less thing to fool around with..Also, instead of having to report the kill within a short period of time, you don't report the kills until you are done hunting for the season...

I have also been admiring Sauer drillings ( and others)…. I have also been admiring Halle Berry ( and others... I am as likely to get one as the other....<<sigh>>...

I've met you at Fran's...My recommendation would be to FORGET the kayak...Hehehehe...

The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning is nice, and a short walk across Centerway Bridge and there is the Rockwell museum of Western Art...Lots of original paintings by Frederic Remington and other famous western artists, along with Bobby Rockwell's collection of antique and modern firearms...Market Street in Corning is worth a stroll, too..Kinda touristy, buts lots of shops, cafes, etc....

Those gobies must be pretty nourishing....

I have heard wonderful things about the Benelli's, but I don't hunt enough waterfowl to justify the extra $$$$... I also have never heard a negative word about the Beretta 390s and 400s...Well made and dead reliable, as Bruno says.. For what duck and goose hunting I do, my 1187 is currently my workhorse... I also like hunting with my Browning Citori, but despite being fairly heavy ( around 8 lb) I get a headache after shooting a dozen or so 3 inch waterfowl loads through it.. I usually hunt with it on my local river, where I'm lucky to get 5 or 6 shots in a morning's hunt..

I have had several Remington gas autos ( 1100s and 1187s) over the years....As long as you keep the gas pistons and mag tube relatively clean, they are dependable and definitely much easier on the shoulder than those wretched Mossberg pump guns... The weight is an advantage , not only to further minimize felt recoil, but to maintain a smooth swing on the longer passing shots that are common in waterfowl shooting....

Please forgive me if I have posted this story before, but it is one of my favorites... A scout for the Green Bay Packers came to Ole Olsen's house to interview him... Mrs Olsen answered the door and said " Ole is away right now, but he will be home soon..Have a cup of coffee... SO the scout sat at the kitchen table, and meanwhile Mrs. Olsen, a stout Scandinavian girl proceeded to clean the kitchen... She picked up the fridge, and dusted underneath it.. She picked up the gas/wood range and dusted underneath it.... The scout, looking for a way to make conversation, said..." You are very strong, Mrs. Olsen, have you considered playing with the Green BayPackers…?? Mrs. Olsen blushed a bright scarlet and said..... " Oh NOOO... I only play with OLE'S packer..."....

Geneva, NY is a pretty friendly little city...
Pygmy replied to philoshop's topic in General Chit Chat
In Steuben County there are two cities..The City of Corning has a population of about 11,000....The City of Hornell has a population of about 8,000'''The nearest BIG city is Elmira, in Chemung County with a population of about 30,000, and a fair number of them are there due to the presence of two maximum security prisons housing many ex residents from the Rochester area and other urban areas in NY, plus their friends and families...That's why there are now shootings and stabbings on a daily basis in Elmira, which was NOT an issue before they moved in the hard core criminals AND THIER FAMILIES... -
Pike and pickerel are both delicious....Pickerel and small pike are problematic due to the HUNDREDS of Y bones.... Bigger pike ( say 5 lb and over ) can be filleted and then you can cut out the strip of Y bones ….There is lots of info on google and youtube to show you how to do this, and it is well worth the effort.... Grinding and making fish patties is another option...You can also pressure can them in pint or quart jars and use the meat for patties or chowder..The canning process dissolves the bones, so you get the calcium, but never know the bones are there, similar to canned salmon..

They are busy laying eggs here in WNY also...Between going to the lake Friday morning and coming home this morning I saw about ten of them, mostly in the process of laying their eggs, like the one Mowin took the picture of...

At least you didn't spend the money on something frivolous, like food, clothing or medical care...

Beautiful shotgun, Rattler.... I like you, my friend, but I wish you couldn't have a bowel movement until you give me that gun....<<smile>>….

Rob..Thanks for the sixpack of craft beer ( ale)... When I got home, first I unloaded the truck &boat, then I took a two hour NAP, then I mowed the lawn, and right now I'm kicked back enjoying a Good Natured Blonde....Life is GOOD...<<sigh>>…. Oh.. I almost forgot..Thanks again to Larry for bringing the bottle of Crown...Some people think those fishing trips are all fun and games, but it's not EASY drinking as much beer and whiskey as I drank yesterday afternoon !!
-
I thought it was one of my local fishing buddies, but that was before I saw your "work".... You're pretty adept at ribbing them, though... Everybody does SOMETHING well...Hehehe...
-
Rob is better than I am...Faster and wastes less meat.. I have only seen one guy that can match him, and he is a panfish fanatic who filets 100os of fish in a year...

SOOO...Was it because she was SO disappointed with you ??…<<wink>>...
