  1. You mean a full time night woman ? WAUGH ! I packed a squaw for nigh onto two years. Cheyenne, she was, meanest bitch that ever bawled for beads. I lodgepoled her down on the Musselshell..Swapped her for a Hawken gun !
  2. Hehehehe...I can nearly relate the dialog for BOTH of them verbatim...Two absolute classic films for us western/Mt man buffs... I did read somewhere that Clint Eastwood considered " Josey Wales" his favorite film, and he has made a LOT of good ones. I never get tired of watching either one.
  3. You are right, Skillet...I was probably taking my nap....<<smile>>..
  4. I'll have to check and see if we have them in our local ( Corning) Wegmans...
  5. I got one in the mail courtesy of Lawdwaz today.. It has a great sound and it's good and LOUD, just like I like them. It is IMMEDIATELY replacing the Quaker Boy that I have carried for years.. Besides that, it's cool looking ( all wood) and more compact than I expected. Now I just have to dig a lanyard out of my STUFF..I have 4 or 5 of them buried SOMEWHERE..<<grin>>..
  6. I made them a couple of years ago, Eddie..They were quite good.
  7. Not traditional type, but I made some refrigerator pickles once that were pretty good. My Mom used to do bread and butter pickles, and they were great.
  8. I know that many of you , like Growie, make your own pickles, but how about store bought pickles available to all of us? Having said that, my VERY favorite dill pickles are BICK's Garlic Whole Dills, made by Smuckers of Canada. I cannot find a source here in the US, so I stock up when I go up to hunt gobblers every spring. They are a fairly big pickle, very crunchy and delisheous. Garlicky and not too vinegary. My current favorite that is locally available is Claussen Whole Dills...They are SUPER crunchy, although I'd like to see them back off on the allspice a little. They are kept refrigerated at all times, so you'll find them in the meat case, or the produce area, or perhaps the dairy case.
  9. They are also relatively inexpensive , especially compared to some of the sardines like King Oscar, which are over $4.00 a can...
  10. I have to agree with Shawn here. Also barrel length has more to do with muzzle blast than the load that is used. For instance, the 21" barrel on my turkey gun with a standard 2 3/4" load may very well make more noise than a 3" magnum load out of a 28" or 30" barrel. Weather conditions make a lot of difference, also as does the direction the shot is fired in. My buddy in Ontario has shot more than one bird within a fairly short distance of me with his 3 1/2" 12 gauge, and I barely heard the shot or perhaps didn't hear it at all
  11. I'm planning to get out one more time with my buddy and his two beagles. We're tentatively planning on Saturday.

Holy CRAP, Bwana...You must have more money than GOD !! Very impressive collection !
  14. I don't know anything about fishing the Delaware, but I just googled " shad darts for sale" and all kinds of them popped up.. Good luck !
  15. My Dad used to call the coon bone a "booger hook"... Funny...I tried picking my nose with one and it didn't work very well... Maybe I was using the wrong end...
  16. Let's see...rabbit, squirrel, grouse, pheasant and crow would be legal too ...Somebody might have shot at a target or perhaps was just checking his gun.. NAAAAAW..Poachers, no doubt..
  17. SWEEEEET, Growie !! I haven't seen 28 deer in one group since Christ was a carpenter ...
  18. Dinsdale...Could the Mermaid and I borrow that fly swish thingy ? Just for a weekend, of course..Our anniversary is coming up..
  19. I have a REALLY nice turkey tote given to me by a friend of mine from Louisiana. It is about a 5 inch length of deer leg bone, highly polished, with an excellent reproduction of a turkey wing feather scrimshawed on it. It is fitted with with a lanyard so you could use it to sling a gobbler and tote him out of the woods, but it's too pretty to use for anything but display.
  20. That has been my experience too..Several years ago I shot a big male coyote while hunting spring gobblers in Ontario. On the properties I hunt up there, it is a condition of getting permission to hunt..You agree to shoot every coyote you see. I did not want to deal with crossing the border with the pelt, so I just dragged the 'yote back into the juniper bush near my blind. The next year I put a blind back in the same place...The skeletal remains lay right where I had left the carcass. I swear nothing had touched a single bone. The skull was relatively clean, so I smuggled it back home with me. One of my buddies who does skulls/Euro mounts cleaned it up for me and it sits on my mantle now. An observation from viewing the skeleton..Copper plated #6 shot WILL penetrate a large coyote's skull AND shoulder blade, at least at a range of 15-20 yards..
  21. Ain't THAT the truth ?....No matter how many times you shake it...
  22. Dick Trickle ?....Sounds like a social disease.
  23. Yeah, one night years ago when I was young and foolish I staggered into a whorehouse in Tijuana carrying a washtub full of quarters.. I was lucky to survive THAT night...<<whew>>..Glad nobody was there with a CAMERA...
