  1. Non toxic, but it would violate the no SINGLE PROJECTILE reg for waterfowl.. It really sucks...I'd love to vaporize a goose with my 20 MM....
  2. My Ford 9N tractor has the fitting to crank start it...It is a 1948, I think.. I remember my dad starting his Ford 8N with a crank...Sometimes it would catch and fly around fast enough to break your arm.. Always scared the hell out of me.. When Mom & Dad bought the farm in Tuscarora in 1956, There was no indoor plumbing except for a pitcher pump in the kitchen which drew from a cistern. The water could only be used for washing dishes, etc. Our main water came from a handle pump on a dug well about 50 yards from the house. We had a porcelain bathtub with a drain, but it had to be filled with buckets of water, which was heated on our combo gas/wood stove.Saturday night was bath night.. The next summer, Dad had a drilled well installed and we had indoor plumbing. I still have the deeds and mortgage from when he bought the property. In 1956, he bought the house, barn, 3 outbuildings, tractor, various farm implements and 187 acres of land for $5600...
  3. I DID send a topless picture of myself into one of those adds.. They returned it and asked me why I had sent them a picture of the Pillsbury Doughboy...
  4. Boy THAT was quick...They said my add wouldn't be posted until tomorrow...
  5. Make sure you wear a nice, tight, pink cashmere sweater, too..!! Gotta show off those sweater puppets...<<grin>....
  6. Growie...Are you gonna wear your poodle skirt and bobby sox to the gym ?
  7. Our telephone did not have numbers to dial. You just picked up the reciever and the operator would say " Number Please".. Our number was 242-M1.. My "first love's" number was 416-J.. We were on a party line for years..Our ring was one long. The old biddies in the neighborhood spent lots of time listening in to thier neighbor's conversations.
  8. I remember them all... Our outhouse only had two holes...One bigger than the other. Perhaps it wasn't "state of the art"... I assume that the purpose for three holes was so that the PILE didn't get too big under any given hole.
  9. Yup....I can remember when you could buy a Finnish Lahti 20MM anti-tank gun MAIL order...Seems like it cost less than $100 also. If I remember correctly ammo was about a buck a round..Pretty steep in 1965, but not bad right now. Folks are paying $2 a pop or more for .50 BMG...
  10. WAAAY cool, Wooly...I like the first one and the last one best.
  11. I have some interesting cartridges that I only WISH I had the guns they would chamber in....22WRF, 25-20 Win, 25-36 Marlin, .303 Savage, 32-20 WCF, .32 Win special .38-40 WCF .38-55 Win, .45-60 Win, 50-70, 20 MM Mk-5 anti-aircraft....
  12. I no longer hunt varmints or predators, so my battery is missing .22 to .24 centerfires... Small game and pests....17 Mach II and .22 LR ( or a shotgun)... Medium to large game...7MM08 and .280 Rem. Medium to large game anywhere that there are GRIZZLIES..9.3 x 62. Coyotes...Whatever firearm I have when I see one...Providing, of course, that the season is open..I never EVER violate game laws, or any other law for that matter. Once, in my misspent youth, ( I was 18) I recieved a ticket for an unsafe tire.. I felt so GUILTY...It has haunted me for many years...
  13. I was listening to "Willie's Roadhouse" this morning on Sirius Radio in my truck.. They played a song by some guy named Montana Slim...The title was " I've Got Love Knot in my Lariat"... I've been chuckling ever since..Ya just couldn't make that stuff up...
  14. My deepest condolences for your loss...
  15. When I first started hunting deer in the mid 1960s it was fairly common to see deer hunters here in Steuben County using double barrels. One old farmer whose property bordered my Dad's place used a Marlin 16 gauge o/u and another neighbor used a Spanish 10 gauge side by side. Still , it was unusual to find a double that shot slugs well, and even MORE unusual to find one that grouped both barrels to the same POA. I have had quite a few double guns over the years and I don't think I ever shot a slug through one of them.
  16. " Even my dog gives me no respect... Last night he went on the paper four times...Three times I was reading it ! ".. Rodney Dangerfield..
  17. That's what I do...Slice them about 3/4" thick, get a skillet nearly smokin' and then sear them in butter about a minute per side..... Dang, now I gotta paw through my freezer to see if I have any left ! Most of the time they don't survive long enough to make it to the freezer.
  18. I saw a buck today that is still holding both of his antlers.. That's just for conversation's sake, since it's not all that unusual to see them in February or even March around these parts... Still, when I see antlers this late I'm always a little surprised..
  19. Politically correct version : Up that familiar tributary without a means of propulsion....
  20. Do you suppose that someone has the Luger used by Horst Buchotlz in " The Hoodlum Priest "...?
  21. I'll admit I'm an ignorant old fart when it comes to media hunting celebrities.. I never heard of this guy until you posted this thread. He looks like a dork, but then, so did Jack O'Connor... Not everybody can be a big macho stud like me and Wooly and Rock Hudson...
  22. Fifty BUCKS ?? Heck, it would cost more than that to listen to her fart over the telephone...
  23. Speaking of celebrities, perhaps Tiffany should sell a pair of her " unmentionables" freshly worn on a five day hunt... THAT might generate some bidding.... Geeze...My upper LIP is beginning to curl...
