  1. I love flying in those Cubs !! Kinda like WEARING an airplane....
  2. Liberals...Especially academic types who feel they are much superior to the rest of us "common folk" because are more educated than we are, despite the fact that many of them don't have enough common sense to pour piss out of a boot.. Oh..You mean animals ??...Hmmm..
  3. There is a reason that benchrest shooters, precision long range shooters and others that want tiny little groups don't shoot semi autos, pumps or lever guns. For most situations in fairly close cover, a rifle that groups 2" to 4" at 100 yards is MORE than accurate enough, and offers the advantage of quick repeat shots. If you want to do precision shooting at ranges beyond 150-200 yards, get a bolt action. Passing up a decent shot at 40 yards because your 100 yard groups are only 4"... WHY...????..
  4. A good friend of mine has a pre 64 Win M94 carbine in .32 Special that he would like to sell. The rifle is in good condition, but has been reduced in collector value because it has been drilled/tapped for a reciever sight. It would make a good shooter for someone who wants a quality older firearm to hunt with. The price he is asking is very good considering the quality of the firearm. If anyone is interested, PM me and I can put you in touch with the seller.
  5. Oh NO !!....It's TROLLGATE !!.....
  6. On one of my Alaska hunts, we brought our caribou backstraps and hindquarters ( boned) back home with us..We donated the balance of the meat. The locals were very grateful to get the front quarters and the bones from our hindquarters..They all wanted the bones for soup.
  7. The Toledo Mudhens and the Bayonne Backstabbers...
  8. Years ago there was a local incident where 2 horses were shot and killed in a farmers barnyard during deer season.. I always suspected that someone had a grudge against the farmer and used the opportunity of DEER SEASON to get even with him.. The shooter was never caught. Nobody is going to mistake a horse for a deer, much less a coyote.
  9. I can't remember where it CAME from, Larry, but we sure GOT it... I could tell you some pretty good snow/blizzard stories from the 60s and 70s. Like the time in the late 60s when my ex wife and I ( we were dating at the time) tried to make it up to my Mom and Dad's place with an emergency cargo of beer and cigarettes.. I was driving Dad's 1959 Volkswagon. I drove PAST a 4WD Jeep and finally buried the bug in a big snowdrift. We slogged back to a nearby farm for help...The farmer buried his 2 big tractors trying to get us out. We spent the night at his place..I slept on the couch. My ex slept with his young daughter, who peed the bed....hehehehehe. The farmer and I had lots of beer and Marlboros that night, as I remember it..
  10. I have to lean with Doc on this one...The damn things are unsightly.. I'm making no judgements toward landowners who have them... I'm just glad that I don't have to look at any of them in the areas where I hunt.. ANOTHER reason why I'm glad I won't have to live much longer...
  11. That was back in the day we got REAL snow here in the southern tier..Seems like from '56 to about '79 we had at least a couple of major blizzards each winter... Living out in the boondocks, it was common to be snowed in for a week or more at a time. In 1980, EVERYBODY had a snowmobile..By about 1985, most people had sold them because the only way they could run them was to trailer them to Tug Hill or the Adirondacks...
  12. I just hope for a good game...I hate when it's a blowout.. Oh yeah, I REALLY hope that some of my numbers hit on the SB boards that I am on...Got some decent numbers this time..3-3 on one and 9-0 on another... The boards are purely recreational, of course...
  13. You mean you don't allow your wife to use the bathroom in the house..??.. I can see where she would be concerned in VERY deep snow...
  14. I no longer am owned by a dog, but I take my snowblower and blow clean an area near my utility shed where I put table scraps and other treats for my backyard crows and starlings everyday. They LOVE chicken bones !! I guess I am just making amends for the HUNDREDS of them I shot when I was younger...<<smile>>...
  15. Let me know how the Henry shoots.. I really like the rifle, except I am not too crazy about the way it is loaded...Seems like a regular side loading gate would be more convenient than the rimfire type loading port on the magazine tube.
  16. The only tag I'm appplying for this year is the New Brunswick moose tag, which is a fairly long shot, although better odds than Maine, Vermont or NH. I'll probably buy another Colorado elk point, since I have 10 now, but I have no firm plans to apply for a tag there in the near future. I just burned my CO deer points ( 12) last year. Probably won't buy any more..By the time I got enough to hunt the unit I want to hunt, I'll be too old ( and poor) to go. Good luck on your draw.
  17. I have a knife that looks very similar to your older Western knife.. The blade says " Official Boy Scouts of America" on one side and " Made in USA Patented" on the other side. Any of you knife guys know who manufactured the Boy Scout Knives ?
  18. We got more than we expected here in the southern tier..At least 6inches, maybe more. It's enough so I'll be spending a couple of hours tomorrow shoveling out the walks and slowblowing the driveway.
  19. Congrats, Growie.... <<< BIG HUG>>>.. Sweet young THANG like you ?? Being a GRANDMA..?? <<smile>>...
  20. Good luck to all of you folks out east.. Here along the mid-southern tier we often dodge the bullet on the big storms..We are too far west and north to catch the nor-easters, and too far south to catch the lake effect. Suits me just FINE !
  21. Nice, although the spurs don't look exceptional.. I shot a double bearded tom a few years ago that had a big, fat beard like that and a spindly 4 inch beard above it. That guy looks like he may have xtra beards, but it's tough to tell for sure. Could be something in the background.. He's a SHOOTER, for sure... Nice picts...
  22. When out and about in the outdoors here in Steuben County I carry a S&W M66 4" .357 mag. For whatever might need shooting.. When carrying concealed I carry a S&W M 637 .38 SP.. For whatever might need shooting..
