I agree....I don't ever remember losing a downed woodcock, with or without a dog. As far as dogs retreiving them, I have had 3 springers and none of them hesitated to retrieve a woodcock, or any other bird, for that matter..

Nice, Dom....Hope you find a 49M.... I had a saddle scabbard for my 49, but sold both many years ago...The 49 was not especially accurate...I didn't care for the sights...I had a very accurate .22 LR ( Win M69 A)... So I foolishly sold or traded the 49 and scabbard....<<<sigh>>>... One of many guns that I have sold or traded over the years and wish I had back...

I believe that is the Model 49M saddle gun. I had a 49 ( in .22 LR). Good luck finding one. There are probably some out there, but I haven't seen one in about 40 years.

Looks like a very nice rig. Hock...Congrats on the new toy.. Years ago I I did some shooting with a friend's S&W K22 combat masterpiece...What a beautiful, well balanced revolver !! My first handgun , bought in 1973, was a S&W K22 6"... It is a wonderful handgun and would be the very last handgun I would ever part with, but I still long for that little 4" combat masterpiece...

They work great for filleting bullheads... For skinning/dressing them I can't see much advantage of an electric over a regular knife.
