  1. It pains me that I had to cast my vote for such a flaming asshole as Donald Trump, but, as usual I had to vote for the lesser of the two evils.... Trump would have won easily against Sleepy Joe if he only had kept his stupid tweeting mouth shut.. We managed to survive 8 year of Obama ( due to a Republican congress)..., .. Open your wallets, Americans, and say goodbye to your 2ND amendment rights... Glad I am getting old and will not have to put up with this BS for much longer....
  2. I have the TC Hawken setup for 209 primers, which I have a lifetime ( for an old man like me) supply of.... Works great, but is painfully slow to reload ( should you need to) and I have the same fear of dropping it in the snow/leaves and being out of business...
  3. Back in the early 1970s, when muzzleloaders were first allowed here in what was then shotgun only country,my ex-wife bought me a TC Hawken .50 cal. for my birthday... It has been my only muzzleloader since then... Along in the late 1990s, I had to put a tang peep sight on it, since my old eyes could no longer function with the standard open sights... I have killed a lot of deer with it over the years, including my best racked buck, a 120 ish 10 point in 1994...I also used it in Colorado to kill my one and only bull elk, a 6x6.... The only other MZ deer I ever shot were with Moog's Encore , with which I shot 2 does from his enclosed blind...His Encore was scope sighted and the deer were both over 100 yards, beyond my comfortable range with my Hawken and peep sights... I still hunt with the Hawken, and have probably killed 20-30 animals with it, but the longest shot I ever made was perhaps 75 yards.. While prepping for my elk hunt in 2004, I did a lot of practicing at fairly long range and I could hit a 20 pound propane bottle from the bench at 150 yards, but I ended up shooting my bull at about 15 yards....Hehehe....
  4. I have 15 once fired WW .308 cases I'll give you... Not much, but as the old woman said when she pissed on the fire, " Every little bit helps"......<<grin>>....
  5. Yeah, Rob....I've had problems finding brass both locally and online, hence this thread... My accuracy went from around 1 " groups to 3-4" groups at 100 yards.. I checked everything for tightness, scrubbed the bore, etc. The brass I have been using was some that I recieved from a former member of this forum in a swap...I have no idea how many times it has been loaded, but most of it was .308 brass necked down...About the time I began to see cracked necks and shoulders, I saw a decrease in accuracy, so I strongly suspect that is the issue...
  6. Thanks, Rob....I have a couple of other rifles to hunt with, so it is no emergency..It's just that the accuracy of my 7mm08 has declined, and I have ruled out most reasons other than ammo...The brass I have been using has seen better days and I am getting about 5 or 6 cracked case necks per 20 rounds, so I suspect that the worn out brass might be the culprit...I appreciate your generous offer...Thanks again, My Friend !!....
  7. Does anyone have 20 to 40 once fired or new 7mm08 cases they would be willing to part with ?? If so, send me a PM...
  8. That must be a chubby, Jewish doe that hangs out with Jerry Sienfeld....
  9. Well spoken, Lone Wadi .....Also well quoted from one of my favorite westerns..
  10. Hey, I also have a ridiculous body..Gets MORE ridiculous every year.... So when am I going to become famous ??....
  11. Bowmars ?? Never heard of them....I don't spend much time watching hunting shows, though...
  12. Welcome aboard, Rocky !!
  13. Holy CRAP , Batman...!! What a monster !! Congrats, Larry !!!...
  14. Happy Birthday Andrew, you tight butted STUD !!
  15. Reminds me of the time I shot an elephant in my pajamas..... JUST KIDDING !! I've never worn pajamas.... Nice video and congrats to DINO on a job well done !!
  16. I have been shooting Barnes bullets in all of my hunting rifles ( except my M-1) for about 20 years now... I have had good luck with Sweet's 7.62.... It is aggressive, but gets the copper out with a lot less work than some of the milder solvents....I have seen no bore damage, but I make sure I get all of it out of the bore after cleaning, and coat with Rem oil or something similar..
  17. I have never shot a 3.5" shell and don't ever intend to.....I'm glad the appx. 130 turkeys that I have killed were not aware that the 3.5" shell was the only way to go.....
  18. Yup...Probably you and about 17 other people in the state....No offense, but GOOD LUCK !!...
  19. Possibly the reason they don't make sabots is because they nobody makes rifled bbls for the 16.... I am a great admirer of the 16 gauge as a shotgun for small game and birds, but loading specialty big game loads for sabots sounds to me like a solution for a need that does not exist....
  20. Hehehehe...I certainly never did much long range ( over 100 yards) shooting with shotgun slugs, but I have killed about an equal number with 12 gauge and 20 gauge, not two or three, but perhaps 25 for each gauge, and I could not see much difference in effectiveness for either gauge with decent shot placement... I only ever killed one with the 16 gauge..Perhaps there is something magical about that gauge...
