  1. Geeze, Larry...How could you miss seeing an animal THAT big..?... BTW...A couple of months and it will be time to apply for the NB moose tag again.
  2. I thought that it was the cougars that were stocked to take care of the armored dildos...
  3. The thickness of the brass tends to be THICKER on the military stuff than it is on the civilian .308 stuff. Not generally a big deal, but maximum handloads might cause excessive pressure.. Keep your loads in the moderate range and there should not be a problem.
  4. Doc, this stage is called " The Doddering Old Fart" stage... I am firmly entrenched in this stage...I haven't even dusted off my mud dozer yet, and I'm wondering if I REALLY want to brave the cold tomorrow for the last day of PA rifle season.. Too much to think about..I think it's time for my NAP....
  5. Hmmmm... I'm no coyote expert, but I always figured that coyotes, like foxes, only used dens for pup rearing purposes.. Perhaps I'm wrong...If not..Anybody got a grenade ??
  6. I believe the cat that Buckandaquarter refers to was the one that was roadkilled in CT a couple of years ago. That cat was linked to DNA samples found in Michigan, NY and possibly other places between here and the Dakotas, where it was thought to originate. The main reason that people are so hesitant to believe cougar sighting stories is because such physical evidence is so very rare, and in most cases non-existant... No trailcam picts ( other than the hoaxes such as the above picture)...No comfirmed tracks, kills, scat...NOTHING other than people saying they thought they saw a cougar. Most of these people are not lying... They saw something that they thought was a cougar...Due to lack of hard evidence, I'd have to say that they were mistaken... Here's an example... These stories have been going around for many years. Back when I was a kid, the cats that people saw were "panthers" and were nearly always black. I was shown a picture by a good friend of mine of one such "black panther" wearing a collar, which he assumed was a tracking collar, presumably installed by the DEC spooks who are supposedly subversivly stocking these things. This man is a retired State Trooper and a very honest and rational man. I looked at the photo...To me, it was obviuously a big black housecat wearing a red collar, somebody's PET. Currently, eyeball witness accounts FAR outnumber cases where there is hard evidence...When the hard evidence starts to increase, I'll become a bit less skeptical of reports of cougars in NY.
  7. Good luck and a quick recovery, Growie. A friend of mine had to get the rabies series last year. He saw a kitten with a can stuck on it's head.. Mr Good Deeds decided to rescue the poor unfortunate critter.. He pulled the can off the cat's head and it bit the HELL out of his hand and ran off. The kitty couldn't be located to be checked for rabies, so my friend John had to get the rabies shots. Of course his buddies, me included ,didn't HARRASS him about it....Hehehehehe.
  8. Hmmmmm...Must have missed that one.. I must have been up in my room watching " Sally's Strange Vacation" on 8MM...
  9. Skunkie...Sounds like you are very knowledgable about flintlocks..I readily admit I am not..Owned a TC Hawken flinter for a couple of years, but never got into the finer points of operating it. Thanks for giving a very articulate and interesting explaination of how a flintlock should work. Hehehe..I was one of those guys who thought the more priming powder in the pan, the better it should work.. No wonder I couldn't hit anything with it...!!..<<grin>>..
  10. Hehehehehe... 5 pages...And we thought it was OVER after a page and a half.
  11. 7 YEARS...!! Geeze.at my age I don't even buy green bananas...
  12. Come on, Dances... Fess up... If you are going to Florida, you're trying to bag yourself one of those "blue hairs"... Hopefully, one who is terminally ill and has lots of $$$....<<JK>>..
  13. This topic reminds me of the time I ACCIDENTLY peeked down over the hill and saw the (rather large) neighbor woman peeing under a tree.. Looked like a grizzly bear with it's head cut off...
  14. JimR...Yeah, I'm kinda disappointed too.. And I was all ready to relate my stories about the nice ladies that hung out in " Juicey Lucy's House of Pleasure and Taco Bar" down in Monterrey... That's OK..It's time for my NAP...
  15. Chupacabras are not ALL that hangs out in Mexican bars, at least as far as I can remember it when I was a young man in Monterey, MX...
  16. As SULL said, Canuck used to make .25 rimfire, but .32 might be a tough one.. I's try websites such as Oldwesternscrounger or similar ones.. Good luck... Obsolete centerfire rounds are much easier to find ( or remanufacture) than obsolete rimfire rounds.
  17. Without checking the website to see what might have changed since I last paid attention.... ADL...Either birch stock or tupperware stock, blind mag, matte blue finish and open sights. BDL...Hi gloss <<YUCK>> polyurethane finish walnut stock, bright polished blue, hinged floorplate, ebony forend cap and <<YUCK>> , monte carlo stock, open sights with hooded front sight, somewhat gaudy checkering <<YUCK>>.. CDL... Walnut stock, oil finished with tasteful classic style rollover cheekpiece with ebony forend cap, relatively tasteful checkering, detachable box mag <<YUCK>>,matte blue finish, no open sights.
  18. Steve...I'm sure many of your steaks could be called "cutlets"... But who cares, as long as you're happy with them and they TASTE GOOD....<<smile>>...
  19. I suspect that "chopped meat" is a city thing..Here it's called ground venison or burger. It is often ground with some beef or pork to add some fat, which helps to form a burger, meatloaf, meatball or whatever. Cutlets can be anything from backstrap, round steaks, or even shoulder meat sliced into what many of us would call steaks.. Chops are nearly always sliced backstrap, with or without bone. Years ago many of the processors cut them "bone in" like pork chops or lamp chops ..Nowadays they are most often boneless, and often "butterflied" Roasts...Could be anything..Neck roast, shoulder roast, rump roast, arm roast, sirloin tip roast...Chances are any roasts that you reciever would benefit from long, slow, moist cooking, either crockpot or braising. Enjoy your venison...
  20. Did you tell Mr. Dillon that Chester won't be reporting for deputy duty tomorrow..?
  21. Congrats to Anthony and his proud Dad.. I still remember my first duck..A drake woodie taken 50 years ago..I could still take you to the very tree along the Canisteo river where I sat when I shot it with my 16 gauge Rem 11-48... And as far as EATING !! I like nearly all wild game and gamebirds, but in my opinion nothing beats puddle ducks...Teal are my all time favorite, but mallards, woodies, and early season blacks are excellent also.
  22. It's not just you, Ants... It's your BIRTHRIGHT... I am MALE...The WORLD is my urinal....
  23. My family was so poor that we couldn't afford toilet paper.. The outhouse had a sack of red corncobs and a sack of white corncobs. You wiped with a couple of red corncobs and then wipe with a WHITE corncob to see if you need to use any more RED cornbobs.
  24. Good luck, young feller... If you were up here in the boonies, I'd take take you to our local gun club, or a friend's 300 yard range and let you shot ALL KINDS of firearms , excluding full auto stuff...
  25. Geeze, Belo...Take a pill...
