I agree. The wind farms are a true eye sore. Not to mention hazardous in multiple ways. I also like that my ground panels double as a roof for storing things under. I have a bit of firewood stacked under it and a lawn roller and a few other little outdoor things I wanted to keep out of the snow.

The boys love it. The yard is almost dry enough now that they will be able to ride again. They have been very patient but they really want to get back out there. I’m sure it’s going to get a lot of use this summer!

Ground mount units don’t take up that much space. My system is grid tied and doesn’t do anything for me in a power outage but if I wanted to install a battery bank then I’d be able to power the house during outages. I didn’t see the point of spending the extra many thousands on battery bank when we already have the propane standby generac installed. I can’t remember the exact dimensions but the panels take up about 20ft by 30ft roughly. I only have a acre lot so like you I was concerned about how much space they would take up but once they showed me how little space it was, I was much happier. Haven’t paid a electric bill since being installed.

They still don’t have guns in yet? Those cases have been up for months now. They have had lots of .22 ammo since last summer. What you see in the glass case isn’t all they have either. Last time I went the lady pulled out a bunch of different .22 ammo from under the counter. Me and a buddy bought a bunch that day. I try to avoid going there if I can.

Lol true story. I’ve lost a lot of chickens over the last 4 years to all sorts of things but never seen a snake kill a chicken. I’ve watched my chickens gang up and kill garden snakes a dozen times though. I don’t think my chickens need to fear any snakes, they have a better chance of getting hit by me on the 4 wheeler lol. Wife still doesn’t know how that one met it’s maker[emoji15] so shhhh don’t tell her I ran it over! Lol

Snakes? This ain’t the Amazon lol

Renting sucks. I’m glad those days are over for us. And I only did it for a couple years before buying my house at 25. Our last rental was a duplex. Owner lived on the opposite side. They were nice people and all but I’m 99.9% sure he was ripping me off on electric. We always had some crazy high bills, I’m talking up over $1000 in the winter. I asked him probably 30 times if he was positive the electric was setup correctly. He always said ya it’s fine. We stayed there for one year before giving our notice. My first rental was another duplex and the oil furnace would emit a crazy amount of burnt oil smell into the house when it fired up. The furnace was so old my FIL who owns a oil company had no way of even getting parts for it. The landlord was again a nice guy but had zero intentions of fixing or replacing it. He did get some electric problems sorted out for us though when we found half the outlets in the place didn’t work.

Framing is officially done! My arms are sore as can be haha. I’m investing in a framing nail gun for the next one of these we build! Now onto the metal roofing, windows and siding. Can’t wait to finish this up, it’s going to look really good I think. I guess my neighbor has had some people ask him if we could build one for them. Will have to wait until it’s all done so I can tally up what this has all cost me. It’s not going to be cheap I know that much haha

While working on my chicken coop over at my neighbors, the huge group of gobblers hanging out in his cattle pastures would gobble everytime I hammered a nail today and yesterday Haha. It was pretty funny to listen to. They were about 100-150 yards away from us all day long gobbling their heads off. Cows moo, gobble. Hammer a nail, gobble. Drop a board and make a loud thud, gobble. They sure are fired up in this cold weather

Made some more progress today. Got the end walls framed up and the roof rafters up. But of course I ran out of nails before getting the rafters nailed down [emoji849]. Have to hit up the local lumber yard in the AM for more nails to finish the roof frame but after that all the framing is done. Might put the door in tomorrow as well. Next up is the metal roof panels and windows, then onto the board and batten siding. It’s coming together slowly but surely!

Yep driving around at your camp will probably tell you all you need to know before heading to Maine. If your carrying around extra weight like a passenger or gear it will put even more stress on the tires which will make it easier to pop or tear. I should of got the 8ply and not the 6ply because I’m constantly carrying more weight than I should and I can see the tire wrap around obstacles. It’s good for traction but at the same time I’m more likely to puncture them. I went 1 inch bigger on height just to give me some extra ground clearance and it helped a lot. The brutes have so much power I didn’t notice any power loss. I might put a lift kit in at some point but the CV angles will worry me. With the power the brutes have its very easy to tear up axles. I’d rather not invite more problems lol. The thin sidewalls on the stock tires is the biggest issue. Run up against a log or rock and your done. That’s what happened to me. Ripped a 3 inch gash and I don’t even remember really getting that close to anything. I think it’s definitely related to keeping costs down and weight is why they use them. I’ve had people tell me a theory that it’s also to help the dealers out. If you put crappy tires on, the customer is more likely to replace them at the same place they bought the machine. Not sure if that’s true but it’s not really all that far fetched -

O ya deff bring your plug kit and compressor. Or for around $350 you can buy yourself a whole lot of piece of mind. If I were heading out of state to a place like Maine where you could get far far away from the truck, that little bit of money would be a no brainer investment. And since you put that lift kit in, if you go up one inch in size all the way around, you’ll gain even more additional clearance[emoji1303] -

You might be alright with those tires if you take it easy and do your best to avoid any sharp objects. I really can’t understand why all the manufactures put such thin ply tires on their machines. I’m guessing it has to do with keeping the overall weight down to make it easier for the engine to turn thus making the operator feel more power. But the loss in power is so minuscule as long as you don’t go up in size by more than a inch or so. Almost any other atv tire out there is 6-8ply and some are even 10ply. I think the ones I put on are 6ply and have already needed 1 plug so far but I do have a tendency to drive through and over anything without giving it much thought. In hindsight I should have got the 8ply ones I was considering. Nothing ruins a nice ride like a flat tire! 3 miles into what should of been a 20-30 mile ride. It was the first big long ride I attempted to go on after buying my Brute. We salvaged the day by sitting at that pond in the background catching bass and pickerel and polishing off every last beer in that cooler strapped to my back rack haha. Then had to verrryyyyy slowly ride my brute back to the main road, ditch it in the bushes, ride double with my buddy back to his house to get my truck and go pick up my brute. Never again will I trust stock tires lol. It’s no wonder all these dealers are putting aftermarket wheels and tires on new machines before they even place them on the showrooms. -

Looks good! That lift will sure help out with the added clearance. Now all you need is a tad more aggressive tires and you’d be totally set. New tires for added ply thickness at the very least. Those look like the stock tires, same ones came on my brute force, they are only 2ply! I ripped the sidewall open very quickly. I will never understand why these manufacturers continue to put thin ply and low tread lug tires on these machines. -

Where you live at, I think I just need to drop mine off for you to wire up lol. Your work is as good as OEM! Looks great man, those lights will be killer -
Ain’t that the truth!

Idk about you but anytime a smokin deal comes up on something I want, I either don’t have the extra cash or I have the cash but a butt load of bills that I’m supposed to pay with said cash. Then when I do have some extra money the good deals are no where to be found. I just have terrible luck which always leads to me paying full price for everything🤦🏼♂️

Mother nature says winter isn't over yet

Lost power around 430. Generator kicking on woke me up. I laid in bed for about 30 mins trying to fall back asleep before I noticed it felt a bit colder than normal and I hadn’t heard the boiler kick on since being awake. I get up and find no power anywhere in the house even though the generator was running. Off to the basement I go to figure out what the hell is going on. I can’t find any problems even after taking apart the generac breaker box. Now I’m pissed. I go outside to look at the generator and find the main breaker switch on the side is flipped off. Who in the hell did that???!!!?? Idk when that happened but I’m glad we didn’t lose power back when it was really cold and I wasn’t home to take care of it. -
Any Interest in the Spring Turkey Youth Hunt Contest This Year?

I’ll be taking Jmarks son Miles out again this year. We were just messaging this morning about it. I have a tingly feeling that this is going to be his year! Last year we were o so very close, I’m determined to get him to bag one this time! -

Awesome man thanks! I’ll definitely check those out and order some here soon. I always figured I could figure it out but electric and wiring gives me the heeby jeebes sometimes lol. I’ve been shocked and messed up more wire than I care to remember lol. My old man used to get pissed off and just take over. He wasn’t the best teacher ever with his lack of patience. Must be where I get my impatience from. Haha. He’s not around anymore so I’ll figure it all out without someone yelling in my ear. But I sure do appreciate the info! Hope your Kawi runs strong for you and gets you to new places your old machine couldn’t! I’ve been a Kawasaki fan for many many years. I raced MX for 12 years and ran nothing but Kawasaki’s for 11 of those years. They make the best machines in my mind. There’s a good reason their atvs hold value! -
I think whoever told you that was thinking of Alaska not Montana. Out of state hunters are required to go with a guide in Alaska. I don’t think any of the lower 48 have such a requirement, at least none that I’m aware of. While we are touching on the safety aspects of back country hunting here, I will say that anyone who’s planning a hunt like this really needs to invest some time into learning navigation skills. You can buy the fanciest GPS you want but if your not going in with a compass and a map your just asking for trouble. Learn to use a compass and map like a pro before you go. It’s not hard, just takes a little practice. It could be a life saver literally. Wouldn’t hurt to learn some emergency medical and survival skills as well. All it takes is for your buddy to slip and fall and you could be faced with figuring out how to stop him from bleeding out 15 miles away from the truck. Of all the things I learned in guide school, medical and survival training were the two things they wanted engrained in our brains the most. Keeping people alive is the most important thing.

Well that doesn’t sound all that hard now that you lay it out like that. Honestly I never even looked into how to wire one up yet. I just figured it would be a pain in the ass and have put it on the back burner for some other time when I have some free time to look into it. But the premade harnesses sound simple enough. I think I’d probably have to invest in a decent weatherproof light. I don’t mud bog, like snorkel required type mud bog but I occasionally get into mud holes and water crossings that push the limits when I ride with this one group of guys. I use my machine for work around the farm more than anything but I do get out and play now and then so I’d probably burn up a light bar that wasn’t sealed really well. I’m guessing that’s why I see such big price differences in light bars. -

I like it! I’ve been wanting to put a light bar on my brute force for awhile now. But I’m terrible with wiring and all that so I haven’t really looked into how to do it yet. They sure do make night riding a lot safer though! -
When it’s done I bet I could sell it to one of those Tiny house people for one hell of a profit! Lol.

Dang they are cheap! I actually came across that place awhile back now that I see the website again. I totally forgot all about them. I should have just got my red sex links from there. Dang. O well next time! I agree TSC can have some questionable healthy chicks. I try to buy them the day they come in. I think all the ones I bought this year were only in the store for a couple hours before I picked them up. I called around starting in February almost every day asking if they got them in yet so I could pick them up right away. I’ll definitely use that hatchery for my broilers next year, thanks for that! Haha ya I’ve heard some horror stories with pigs. I’m not all that sure that we will get into them this year or ever. I’m trying to talk my wife out of it for the time being. She’s been talking about starting a big veggie garden the last week or so, maybe I can steer her towards focusing on that and she might forget about the pigs for now haha🤣.
