  1. Red oak? Too dark to be white oak. I'm not a pro on tree identification but I know reds are dark like that
  2. Good sleeping bag. Solves all problems. Spent a lot of time in my north face mummy bag out west in the worst conditions and only froze my ass off one night. But the bag, ground, me and everything around was drenched. That was the only time I got a good dose of hypothermia and the rest of the group had to end up huddling together so we didn't freeze to death. We didn't even have tents. Just tarps over a single rope between trees. Way out in the backcountry in Montana...damn that was a good trip lol.
  3. I just want to sit in a tree and forget the rest of the world and watch animals go by. Hoping for a big boy to stroll by me before my trip to Nebraska but if not I'll have a week left of bow season after I get back. For my Nebraska trip I really hope to be able to stick a 150 plus incher. We will see how it all plays out.
  4. They will penetrate the first one but the second mat on the back stops them. Only a crossbow has sent a bolt into the back mat. The compounds have only gone through the first and touch the back one but don't go in. Works really well.
  5. Just took 9 shots at 40, 9 at 30 and called it quits. I'm sweating like a pig out here. Back into the AC. Still have 10 hours of being in that boiling hot mill tonight. Unless there's problems, I'm staying in my AC office lol
  6. Works good. Has stopped a lot of arrows lol.
  7. Yep I'll take a pic of it next time I stop over at his place. Might stop there tonight before work. I'll get ya a pic though
  8. i still dont get you guys shooting at bags on the ground. I know it's about aim, but I'm not shooting ground hogs. Practice like you play. I like 3D targets better. But this wasn't my house or my targets. The target doesn't matter anyways. It's about hitting what you aim at. My buddy has 5 targets around that bag. The rest are blocks and are stacked. I shot the higher up ones too if that makes ya feel better. He's got a slick back stop setup too, heavy rubber stall mats on a 2x4 frame. Double mat thickness, stops any random flyers lol
  9. I've retreated to my living room for the rest of the day. Still drying some of my camo on the porch and finished a trim piece of the deck earlier. Soaked 2 t shirts in sweat. I still have a 10 hr shift to go to tonight so I'm done for the day. Other than packing the last few pieces of camo away when they dry I'm not going anywhere near that heat lol. Can't wait to be in my treestand Sunday morning in the low 40s. It's gonna feel amazing!!
  10. Try deleting the Tapatalk app and reinstalling it. Or send a message to Tapatalk people for help.
  11. Pulled a muscle in my neck yesterday. Busted my butt around the house in the heat all day today then came down to my buddy's house to shoot a little bit. Here's my first 3 at 40. Not bad for being sore and over heated lol
  12. Had issues a week or so ago. But the September 19th update fixed my problems.
  13. My wife just told my kids today to "say goodbye to your father because hunting season starts next weekend" hahaha. She's such a pain in my ass
  14. Nice pics. I like seeing sparring pics, always thought it was cool to see them playing rough. I have a 5 and 6 point that ran together all summer. They are starting to put some distance between each other but they come together under this apple tree once and awhile now. They had a little sparring match the other night and the 5 point won lol. Here's some pics of the battle. And the winner is!!...
  15. I'll be ready after stand work tomorrow. Going to wash my camo and hang that out to dry. Other than still needing to pick up my license. I'm ready
  16. I just avoid going anywhere that cargo shorts would be considered uncouth. Who's got time for all that yuppyness [emoji12]
  17. Well once I get out of work in the morning I'm headed to Lowe's to pick up a new pole saw to finish trimming up a couple stands. Need to move my ladder stand as well. Ladder stand will most likely be my opening morning spot. It will be back into the woods a ways near a small pond/water hole in a creek bottom with oaks on one side and thick pine/swamp on the other. Hope to catch them coming out of the swamp to water and feed on the already dropping acorns before heading out into the fields when the sun goes down
  18. Cargo shorts for life! I hardly ever wear shorts but when I do it's camo cargo shorts lol. My wife complains that they are the only type of shorts I'll wear and I have 3 pairs of the same ones lol
  19. Ya I'm not to impressed with the lack of rain as of late. Really hoping it doesn't burn my new field up. Everything established well and has 4-6 inches of growth. Hopefully the roots have developed deep enough to scavenge any remaining moisture.
  20. My wife is getting better about it every year. At first she thought it was cool that I was a hunter and a guide, until she was with me for a full season and realized how much time and money I commit. First few years was a little rough with her but she's finally getting broke in lol. When I told her I wanted to go to Nebraska for 2 weeks this year she only responded with "for how long" rather than "um we will have to talk about it". Steps in the right direction! Lol.
  21. Cool! I have been waiting a long time to see one here in NY. My neighbor who's land I hunt sai to me yesterday when I brought him a load of corn that there's a white deer on his property and he saw it a few nights ago. He had told me a month or so ago that there are white ones running around here off and on for the last 30 years
  22. I'd say he's prolly a 3 year old. Will be a stretch to break 130 inches. Will be quite thin once the velvet comes off. If you can stomach it, pass him. If he makes it till next year he should be really good
  23. Carbon express maxima blu rz 350s. Blazer fletching. And carbon express launchpad lighted nocks. Expensive arrows for sure but they fly good and I picked up a lot of speed and k/e with them. I don't tend to lose many arrows so the price doesn't bother me much and that's about the only downfall of them I've found so far
  24. Sweet! I'm gonna have to get in touch with you about that. Me and my best friend have been talking about wanting to do a bear hunt in the next couple of years.
  25. Sucks for the guy you work with. But with so little miles it was obviously messed up right from the factory in a big way. I'm sure they took care of that for him. Hondas are well known for reliability and low ownership costs. Like I said, I dislike cars (other than mustangs I like those[emoji12]) but for when your looking for a cheap car that will make it to 200k or more pretty easily as a back and forth to work beater, Honda civics and such are hard to beat. I paid 12k for my Civic with 25k on it. It's slow and doesn't do anything cool, but it's averaging 38mpg and I've used the saved money in gas compared to driving my truck to pay off a few things and stack a little cash away for my trip to Nebraska in a few weeks. If this thing starts to eat a little oil after 100k, so be it. By that time it will be paid off and won't owe me anything. Besides, it's a Honda, they only need like a cup of oil to run anyways lol. Ran a Honda foreman for 4 years without even checking the oil lol.
