  1. I'm not entirely sure I even wanna respond because your last two posts show your know little to nothing of what your talking about man. First off, the turbo engines have been doing absolutely fantastic on longevity. There's TONS of them with well over 100k and this "burning oil" problem you speak of is nothing but total hog wash. I cruise all the ecoboost forums everyday and there is no wide spread problem of oil usage over 100k. This isn't a chevy engine after all, you wanna talk oil usage, go talk to the only manufacturer that says a quart of oil usage is normal between oil changes! 2nd off, every year was chevys bankrupt years. Their poor management and products caused them to be so broke to begin with. And 2007 was also the year the the newer body style. You could also get a 1500 in "classic" body style that year as well. The fact that you can call the fit and finish of a GM above all others is mind boggling. This is something that they have never been good at and never win awards for. Your talking about a truck model that's been out for multiple decades and has never surpassed a Ford in sales or awards. Since when did fit and finish become good on mostly Mexican made trucks? Chevy takes the nod for having more foreigners putting it together, that's about all they got over Ford. And since when did everyone get rid of 8 ft beds in 1500s??? I can go down to the dealer right now and drive one home. So pretty much everything you've said has been false.
  2. I agree with the cash offer or offering of some sort of service to them. I have sole permission on a 40 acre and 75 acre tracts behind my house. The old lady with the 40 appreciated that I had the courtesy to ask first and she saw my two little boys with me and thought they were the cutest and I drove it home when I told her it's all about taking the boys out hunting to get them outside. I've also mowed her lawn several times and asked numerous times if I can ever do anything for her. The farmer with the 75 acres also greatly appreciated me asking, but he likes it even more that I bring him 2500 pounds of corn every week for his cows. Saves him a lot of money in feed so he's really liking this arrangement. But what I'm trying to say is, get to know the land owners and see if you can figure out what they need or want and do what you can to fill that void. I'd suggest maybe starting out with an invite over to your place for dinner and drinks to welcome them to the "neighborhood" and get to know more about them.
  3. Tell him sorry pal new sheriff in town! Haha! But seriously, he can pound salt, hunt the hell out of that thing! I'd do my best to avoid the guy which you sound like your already planning to do. I'd also suggest maybe locking any tree stands, cameras and other gear you leave there. What's the parking situation like? Can you get in and out without him even knowing your there?
  4. I've got two smaller bucks that I've been watching all summer. They were running together but split apart around mid July. But they show up on the same cams within 30 mins or so of each other every day just about. The one must of shed his velvet sometime during September 4th as he was on cam the 3rd full velvet and then early morning on the 5th hard horn. The other buck was still sporting full velvet up to the 9th, I checked cam the 10th. Hard horn 6 point. Full velvet 5 point
  5. They can't sell them is why they have huge rebates constantly. Up to 11k off now. Usually fluctuates throughout the year between 6k-12k. They need to make room for next model years to roll in so rebates go up to move em.
  6. He is probably still around. They will be starting to wander around a lot more though. So that might explain his recent disappearance. That other buck is a good one too though!
  7. It was new. 2007 1500 LTZ fully loaded. Had the dealer put in a 6in lift and 35s. 3rd day I had it, it was already back in the shop. I owned it for 2 months and it spent most of that time in the shop. I've got plenty of chevy owning buddies who rag on me about loving fords. But I've owned twice as many trucks as them, drive more miles and spend a 1/4 in repairs that they do. Your 16 might only have 2 recalls. But starting in 2014 when they came out with the newest body style, they have suffered a record amount of recalls on that one particular body style.
  8. My boss hunts at my place a couple times a year and he smokes cigs like it's going out of style. He's also my best friends dad so we make sure to setup a stand for him out in the "smoking section" we call it haha. But this guy uses a piss jug and then sticks all his cig butts in it. I always ask him what's the point of using a piss jug when your smokin a half a pack every time your in the tree lol. He then ties his jug up in the tree and will leave it there, for me to see flapping in the wind when the trees get bare lol. Good thing he only hunts 2 maybe 3 times a year with me lol
  9. I've had em all except a Toyota. Bunch of close buddies had them but have all gotten rid of them and never went back. My chevys had nothing but problems so I'd never touch one with a 30ft pole again, should of listened to my old man and never bought a bow tie. Not to mention their newest body style holds he record for most recalls now lol. My dodge was pretty good. It was a 2010 2500 Cummins that I put a boat load of money into to make go fast. I'd prolly still have that truck if I didn't wad it into a irrigation ditch coyote hunting. My sister has a 2015 ram 1500 that apparently is having a bunch of issues already my dad told me on the phone the other day. He said she's trading it in this week on another Ford. Between my parents and my sister and me, we've gone through quite a few trucks and brands but nothing has held up as good as our Fords. With well over a million miles between everyone in my family in the last decade, it's easy to weed out what's good and what's not
  10. Ya it's getting harder and harder to find simpler trucks these days. I actually just woke up for work about an hour ago and had text messages from a guy I work with saying he just bought a new F150 finally. He's been looking for one but like us wanted less high end options. I'm turning this mill parking lot into a Ford ad one co worker at a time haha. 3 other guys here have bought ecoboosts after test driving mine.
  11. Quick walk out back. It's coming along. Everything has germinated well. Wheat and oats have biggest growth towards the south end of the plot as you can see in the pic. I did more turnips towards the north end closer to my stand in the corner where I took the pic from. But there is oats and wheat mixed in with the turnips just not as heavy. Just need some decent weather and a couple rains and it should be a decent plot
  12. Lol exactly! My wife is the same way, she wants all the creature comforts and tech. All I want is a solid truck with a fm radio and a powerful motor and heavy duty drivetrain lol.
  13. I used to film a bit when I guided. Easier to focus on filming when your not the one shooting. I still have my camera and have been thinking about picking up a tree arm for it so I could try some self filming. If I get any done I'll be sure to send it to ya
  14. Ya man the prices these days are out of this world. I think it's some kind of bubble. Hopefully it bursts and comes crashing down like the housing market did lol. I can see 40k for a well equipped gas truck and even up to 60k for a diesel. But now you can get f150s for 60+ grand. That's just insane to me. I think the biggest problem is that trucks are becoming a social status statement these days rather than what they were originally designed for. I see far more people driving trucks these days that have little to no need whatsoever to have one. But they want it to look and ride like an luxury SUV just because it's big. And of course those wants force manufactures to make those trucks but drives the prices through the roof. If it were up to me, there wouldn't be a leather seat anywhere near a truck lol
  15. The difference between cars and their v6s vs turbo 4cyl's is quite noticeable and I'll agree with you that the little tiny turbo motors don't do it for me either. But the ecoboosts are a different animal. They run and feel more like you stepped into a super duty diesel rather than swapped moms mini van motor under the hood. I went from a 980hp Cummins to my ecoboost if that tells you anything. For a stock truck, nothing runs quite like an ecoboost.
  16. Your really gonna hate the 3.7L then lol. Drive a ecoboost 3.5L and smash the pedal and you'll forget every idea you had that a truck could be boring [emoji1591] The turbo tech isn't anything new by the way. It's been around for decades. Ford just brought it back to life from the shelf it was sitting on in the back warehouse. 138k on my ecoboost now, and it hasn't been babied in any way shape or form.
  17. Prepare to be underwhelmed with the power of that one your going to look at. The ad says it only has the 3.7L V6. Which is the naturally aspirated v6, not to be confused with their 3.5L V6 turbo ecoboost. While the 3.7 is a good reliable engine, it lacks in the HP and torque area and will make a truck that size feel a bit anemic. I'm guessing your gonna be used to having some power behind the skinny pedal, but that truck probably won't do it for ya.
  18. Coffee before morning hunts but I always carry water or vitamin water in my pack. I dont bother with hot stuff as a thermos is heavy and if I'm gonna be out there all day the coffee is gonna get cold anyways, and I hate cold coffee. Keeping hydrated is the name of the game and pure water is king at that. Vitamin waters are delicious and don't leave me thirsty again like Gatorade or Powerade does.
  19. Let er rip from 20ft up anytime I feel the need. Never once seen any animal affected by it.
  20. My 2nd son may have been conceived in my ground blind haha[emoji38]
  21. Columbia county has some really good hunting in certain areas. I'm not exactly even sure of where those exact areas are, but I've heard multiple times that Columbia county has some bruisers around. Also known for a good amount of albino and pie bald deer. My best buddy shot a pie bald spike horn there like 10 years or so ago. While a lot of that county has some good hunting, it's no Kingman county Kansas and sure as hell isnt worth outrageous amounts of money like that for a hunting property. There's 45 acres down the street from my for sale for 45k that I could shoot just as many and just as big of bucks on with some habitat improvements.
  22. Lol. 67 acres for 1.2 mill. Hahahaha. Thanks man I'm having a real crappy night at work but reading that made me laugh and feel good again.
  23. I'll have to take some pics in a couple days when I get back out there but I checked my plot quick yesterday and that rain we got did exactly what I needed. The winter wheat is taking off the fastest now, some of its already 5 inches tall. Turnips are starting to really fill in now. Should look great in a few days. More rain coming in later today and all day tomorrow, then some nice sunny days after will hopefully set this plot off.
  24. Yep those are power company guys. I see them ride up and down the lines here on those 4 seater rangers.
  25. If I decide to put the bow down and take out a gun it would be my CVA wolf muzzy with a Vortex crossfire II 4-12x44. 110 grains of blackhorn 209 with a 250 grain TC shockwave or hornady SST. Deadly accurate little gun. Still haven't bought myself a new rifle yet after giving my Browning A bolt to my sister. I'm more into using the bow regardless of season but I do like tinkering with muzzleloaders.
