The prohawk is a great bow. I had one for 2 years. Was a great bow I liked it a lot. Would still have it if I hadn't got such a good deal on the rampage xt I have now. My avatar pic to the left with the antelope that bow laying across it is my old prohawk. Killed a lot of animals with that bow

Just put some towels down. Shouldn't be too bad. I worked for my father in law for a couple months doing service and installs on boilers and hot air furnaces. We bled air from the circ all the time. A Lot of service calls led to bad old worn out circs so when we would swap them we just bled it before tightening them down all the way. Don't forget to change the filter and nozzle! Will help your unit run more efficient
-
Have you tried bleeding it at the circulator? You can loosen the bolts up and crank up the heat to turn the circ on and wiggle the circulator till it pisses out water. If not I'm not sure how that setup you got there works. Hard to tell by the pics though.

Kids interested in hunting should definatly be brought along on hunts many times in advance to them carrying any weapon. I don't think the age should be as high as it is. I was 5-6 when I saw my first deer get shot and field dressed then butchered. It wasn't traumatizing at all. There's plenty of older people who can't stomach killing a animal let alone gut it. It should be up to the parents to decide if the kid is ready. Ya ya some parents are stupid we all know that. But why should my kids be held back because Joe shmoe is a moron? Look at the younger generation right now. These kids are a total mess! Everyone is crying wolf over mental disorders being the reason their kid has "issues" when it really comes down to (most of the time) the parents not doing their job. Kids now are so much more rude, disrespectful and entilted than any generation before. I certainly believe my father keeping me in line and teaching me values had a lot to do with bringing me along on hunts and going fishing and spending time outdoors. Myself and friends that I grew up with that hunted along side their fathers were always regarded as good kids and more mature for our age than the kids who didn't do anything other than play soccer and video games. Whether anyone agrees with me or not I could care less but I plan on raising my boy the same way I was. I turned out just fine and my boy will too with the correct guidance.

You can't judge until your in that tough spot man. I'm right there with ya teebug. I lost my job in august and was working for my father in law at 1/4 the pay up until last week I finally got a new job that pays just as good if not better than my last one. But now I'm in the hole from the time period I was without big paychecks. Working as many hours as possible to crawl up out of this hole. Its a tough world and sometimes you gotta give up the things you love for the things you need. -
No way. Let the old man go. If he gets caught that's his own deal but don't get involved. Just pretend you didn't hear or see anything.

Boo. I want to be in the woods. Instead I'm stuck at work collecting more overtime...o well wife will be happy with the pay check I guess

Sucks you had to sell your bow. Sucks when times are tough. I sold my reconyx cameras in august and holy hell do I miss them! Just go practice with the other bow and you should be fine man. My old man has a newer hoyt crx 32 but still shoots his old! Bear bow he got back in 1981 lol. Slow as can be but still hits the target! -
Nice! I've been driving my little work beater car (04 hyundai elantra) to my camp and I've been wondering where I'm gonna put a deer if I kill one lol. I guess over the trunk is a good option since the inside of the trunk is filled with gear most the time. I shot a 6 point years ago and we had my uncles jeep since he was borrowing my dad's truck to move some things one weekend. We ended up spreading the body cavity overtop the spare tire on back and kinda wrapping the deer around the tire lol. People were honking and giving us a thumbs up all the way home lol.

I agree. I welcome all the gorgeous women to the hunting world. Camo on a hot blonde...nothing better!

I'm personally know a 7 year old who has shot multiple does and is working on getting a buck all with a bow. What difference does the age matter on hunting with a bow vs a rifle. If they can pull it back and shoot safely have at it! Buck fever does not discriminate on age...a 45 year old veteran with 25 years of bow hunting can get jittery and wound a deer just the same as a 8 year old.

I thought it was 14 for big game with a bow? idk why it's so high. Very stupid I agree.

"Haybale" Blind
Adkhunter1590 replied to josephmrtn's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
That pic is the avery real grass. That's what we always used. It can be cut to length so it was easy to use on blinds. Also wrapped black plastic around the blind first to keep the wind and rain out. Helps with scent control too I'm sure. Cut out squares of rectangles for shooting windows and used zipties as hinges so you could open and close the windows. -
"Haybale" Blind
Adkhunter1590 replied to josephmrtn's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
Hay bale blinds work awesome. I have moved them and had deer walk within 10 yards of them just a few hours later. They are so used to seeing them they just don't seem to care where they are. They make a brown grass carpet type stuff used mostly for making duck blinds but we used it for hay bale blinds. Color matches hay and it's easy to attach to wire panels with some zipties. -
1hr for me. Hour and a half if it's a stand that's a long walk. But my bow stands are mostly pretty close so 1hr before shooting light for me. A good headlamp certainly helps
-
Always hard to let one walk. I was in my blind a week ago and had 6 does feeding right in front of me for 3 hours. The first doe showed up 5 mins after I got in the blind a hour before shooting light. The others came in right around shooting light and stayed for what seemed like forever. I drew back probably 5 different times. Never pulled the trigger. I know there's at least 2 decent bucks around so I'm after them first. After the does walked off I kept asking myself why didn't I shoot?? Lol. O well there's plenty of season left!

Practice wearing what you wear hunting - I missed
Adkhunter1590 replied to nybuckboy's topic in Bow Hunting
I'm guilty as to not practicing with my hunting jackets on but I always shoot with my hunting gloves on. I feel weird shooting with no gloves. I always take a few draw backs once I'm up in the stand and it's light enough to see a bit just to warm myself up and make sure nothing will get it in the way. It happens to a lot of people that wear bulky clothes and it screws them up. Just keep it in the back of your mind that you should try drawing back to make sure your good to go. -
Gotta love it when the decoy works. Its a real cool thing to watch! Congrats!
-
Maybe it's a giant and he's been knockin back cold ones with his buds lol. Either way it's bs we want pics or an explanation! Lol

O ok now I see the third blade. Sorry I'm looking at them on my phone. Hard to see. But ya they do resemble spitfires.

Wife says we gotta be out the door by 5pm
Adkhunter1590 replied to rdfenn3's topic in General Chit Chat
I hate being late. And I especially hate when others are late to meet me someplace. I agree it's rude behavior. My wife is pretty good about being on time. Its the getting ready part that takes so long that drives me nuts. Especially if it's someplace that has the kid all fired up and she leaves me downstairs to entertain him and a 8 month old while she's messing around taking her time upstairs. It never fails that I'm about ready to pull my hair out and she will come down and say "come on let's go why isn't the baby in his car seat already?". I just shake my head with nothing to say... -
Anorexic sasquatch!!

Yeah it was really sad that all these big wigs of these outdoor and hunting company's left such a mess in the woods like that. I was disgusted by it. My boss was so pissed he called them all up and flipped out at how lazy and inconsiderate and what a disgrace to the outdoor and hunting community they all are. It was fun to watch that phone convo lol. I personally use those blaze orange scent bombs. Just pour some pee in the bottle and shake it up to get it on the wick and hang it up. I always take them with me when I go though.
