I tell you, the philosophy some of you guys have is totally messed up!! Do you guys realize that you don't own the bloody deer? If you pass up a buck because it isn't big enough for your standards, you have absolutely NO reason to be pissed if the guy on the next property shoots him. Absolutely NONE! These are free ranging deer and it's just too bad that it didn't lie down for you and stay on your property until it gets it's bigger set of antlers next year. I think you guys need to only hunt behind fences where there would be no chance of the deer escaping with your attitudes. Just mind boggling how hunters think these days. I guess watching too many deer hunting TV shows and screwing a camera to every tree in the woods will do this to people. Someone might as well come up with a device where a number is spray painted on a deer when it walks by so then you can argue with the guy on the next property when he shoots it that the deer was numbered on your property and that you are claiming it! Unbelievable!

Question for the guys who hunt over food plots

Yep, and if she couldn't finish them off with her proficiency with various weapons, her chipmunk stew certainly was the coup de grace! -
Question for the guys who hunt over food plots
steve863 replied to meatmuzzy's topic in Deer Hunting
Biz-R-O you better be polite or else you will be hanging from the meat pole come hunting season next to the 3 deer Growalot will slay. Many years ago when they were young, another forum member (Pygmy) tried to get frisky with her, and he found things out the hard way. If you don't already know, she was the cause of his stunted growth. LOL -
You can say that again. Not even close to what it must have been like in the theatre. I loved the old guy, though! What no one knows is that he had a digital prostate exam earlier that morning, so he was doubly mad as hell and took it out on those two big time!!

Excellent observation. I find it funny how many think they would blow someone like him away if they were there with their pistols. I say BS to that. Even highly trained law enforcement don't always get the job done the way they would want when the crap hits the fan. I really doubt someone who shoots a few times a year would turn into a superman in a situation like that. Yeah, there might be some cool handed lukes walking around with pistols, but I tell you they are very few and far in between. Just go to any shooting range and see how well the average gun owner can shoot. Nothing to write home about, that's for darned sure. Best way to be a hero is to get yourself and those around you out of there quickly.

Who said that YOU said anything? My initial reply was to meat hunter's insinuation that misuse of DMP's is common. Since he claims that "In the current AR areas 77 to 90% of the hunters find continuing the AR program acceptable.", and if he is speaking from experience in his home area that DMP misuse is prevalent, who would then be the people misusing these DMP's?? With such figures and insinuations being thrown out by him, some of us just want him to explain a few things, that is all.
-
No, no one did, BUT, some of us who are not AR supporters have been accused of being "if it's brown, it's down" guys, so it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who these people getting DMP's to use in other areas might be in your minds. If AR supporters vastly outnumber non-AR supporters in your areas as you guys claim, then the way I see it the odds are pretty good that many of these bandit hunters may not be from the side that some of you might be thinking.
-
You know, if such a practice is as widespread as you are suggesting, then I would say that hunters are a pretty F*^%$d group and honestly NO one should ever even consider letting a hunter hunt their land. Hell, if we hunters think so many of us are up to NO good, then why should anyone else trust us or have an ounce of respect for us?? We all know that there are some bad apples in our bunch, but I really hope that you are not correct with your insinuations here. The hunters I know sure as hell don't go getting DMP's from where they are easy to get to fill them in other areas. OK, so since their are so many bandit hunters out there, what is to stop them from shooting a spike or forkhorn in an AR area and then claiming that it was shot in a non-AR area?? Or are all the AR supporters the upstanding hunters while everyone else is a bandit??

I guess one could use that as a good excuse then. "Ah hun, it only LOOKS small because it's wrapped in realtree camo" LOL By the way, I have no doubt Elmo will be chiming in very soon since we are discussing this part of the male anatomy. -

LOL on the video!!! Don't forget we have Bubba the psych nurse practitioner on the forum here. He may be able to help with your hunting fears. He'll whiz a few rounds by your head with his pistol so you can get over your fear of gunshots. LOL And to be totally safe Bubba makes all his patients wear BO while in his office. -

Well, what else can I tell you NFA?? If you think hunting is so bloody dangerous, then you should take up needlepoint or something? Hell, just don't forget the needles on the sofa and then sit down on them by accident. That would be sort of like a Texas heart shot! LOL -

So if a bicyclist gets mowed down by a truck, or if a mountain climbers loses his grip and falls 1000 feet to his death, their death is any less final than of someone who was shot?? Your logic isn't quite making sense here. -

How do you come to the conclusion that only hunting has death as a possibility? You make it sound like going hunting is like going to war where chances are good that you will be sent home in a body bag. More people get killed or maimed participating in other sports and pastimes than they do in hunting and that is fact. Sure getting shot is a possibility, but with the millions of hunters out there all around the country, very few actually do get shot or killed by gunshot or bowshot. Plenty of other pastimes that are considerably more dangerous where your chances of serious injury or death are much higher. If you take treestands out of the hunting equation, then there is even less chance of accidents. And one can be quite successful at hunting without them. So if you want to play it really safe, don't hunt from treestands. -

You know you really are a clown. I remember your posts from a good while ago. You only come out from under your rock when AR's are discussed. You hunt in an AR area, and you already have your AR's, yet having them in your area isn't quite enough for you. You are just gloating that the entire Catskill region now has to go along with what you want, aren't you? As I have said before, you can hunt for bucks that are ten years old and toothless, but why does it bother you that some hunters hunt for sheer enjoyment and the size of antlers don't concern them?? Why must they now have their experience diminished, just because you want YOURS enhanced? Totally not f#$%ing fair and you damned well know it, yet you are just loving it. -

steve863 replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
No, yet I've killed more bucks that would qualify under AR's in the last 8 years then some of you fellas who hunt in AR zones. Go figure why? Maybe you guys just suck as hunters and should consider tiddly winks instead of hunting?? -

I've been away for a while, but I see that you still talk from your mouth and your rear end, and unfortunately from both at the same time. Earlier in the thread you state that you really aren't much of a supporter for the AR rule as it is implemented in most states and now you rave about its undisputed proven facts. Unbelievable! -

Exactly where do you see Hurst's name on the document I quoted? If he did write it and is against AR's, how did it become law then?? The DEC is obviously not always correct, as you can see here with AR's, but I still want to read some official DEC document refuting or debating what they have said many times before that AR's serve NO biological purpose in NY? Obviously that is their official stance, which was obviously concluded by more than one NYS biologist. Yet, AR's are a "social" issue for you fellas, thus they let you have them. Nice try posting an article from a QDM website. That's the laugh of the week for sure. You guys are obviously quite gullible and can't see the smoke and mirrors in the name of what is best for the herd. So QDM, which was concocted by biologists who were paid by some Texas big game hunters to come up with ideas, has more concern for the deer than it does about potential better hunting for themselves? If you guys want to bring things back to the way it was before man stepped in, why not quit hunting deer altogether then and let nature take its course?? NOOOO, you surely wouldn't want that, now would you? I tell you, you guys can be bought with a popsicle. Hey fellas, I've also got some oceanside property in Iowa for you if you are interested? LOL -

steve863 replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
One reply I got on Oct 20, 2011, soon after this plan was put on the table. Hurst is no fly-by-night biologist in NYS. If he even states that there is NO biological need for AR's in NY, you fellas have absolutely NO leg to stand on with your voodoo theories on why AR's are so badly needed. All this is a sham that came to fruition by underhanded tactics by AR supporting sportsmans groups. As I said before, it's downright funny that the DEC even made note on their official document that most of the AR supporting letters where unsigned copies of the same letter. For the DEC to admit to something like this says a great deal in my opinion. Thanks for your note and for expressing your concerns. You are correct that we see no biological need for mandatory ARs. We have repeatedly said that ARs are principally a social issue. It was based on the level of social interest expressed to our administration, that our agency decided to continue ARs in the pilot units and to propose expanding mandatory ARs into several additional units next year. Before ARs are a reality in the seven additional units, we must propose a regulation, a process that entails an 45-day public comment period. You may continue to express your concerns to our administration, local elected officials, and during the regulatory comment period which is likely to occur next February or March. I know you hear things in your head. You and theHunter must have been hit in the head one too many times by the rock you crawl out from under when people put you on the defensive on why AR's are nothing but a crock of horse$#!+. -

Yeah, you guys have "all the facts and figures" alright! LOL That is why you boys sent thousands of photocopies of the same bloody letter to the DEC in support of AR's. I wrote to the DEC also in opposition, but at least I wrote the damned letter myself and actually got a personal reply from a NYS biologist respecting what I wrote and answered the questions I had. It seems like a few palms were greased along the way also by your side, since a few politicians put their names behind AR's. As I said before, a sad day for MANY downstate hunters. Actually ALL NYS hunters should take note here, because the same tactics could be played out in other areas.
