Hopefully some unsuspecting poor soul doesn't go into your freezer and thinks they are helping themselves to some sort of frozen chocolate dessert in that tupperware. LOL May God help you fellas who collect this stuff. I leave all of this stuff where it should be left, which is the gut pile for the scavengers to eat.

Best way to bring in a coyote
steve863 replied to steve863's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Thanks WNY! Now would a rabbit in distress call work at night also? Since coyotes can be hunted at night, I've been thinking of trying an hour or two in the dark. -
Now I myself could honestly care less about killing a coyote or fox, but my wife of all people has been saying that she'd love to have a coyote or fox pelt to hang on the wall next to some of our other items we have from the natural world. I admit that I have little interest in predator hunting and don't know a heck of a lot about it. What could some of you recommend as a good tactic to help bring in a coyote? Are there any calls that work better than others? I know that I have even brought a couple in with turkey calls in the past. I will be going turkey hunting in the coming weeks before the bow season opens and know that the coyote season opens Oct 1st, so I may take some time out from turkeys and go out with my heavy barrel .22-250 that I have had collecting dust in the closet for years now and maybe become a hero to my wife and get her a coyote pelt. LOL Any suggestions on what works well would be appreciated.
-
OK, maybe then you can lend me one this hunting season? When a deer comes along I will raise it up and show off the guns beauty to it. Maybe the guns stunning looks will give the deer a heart attack and I won't have to waste a round on it?? LOL
-
That's a laugh alright!! You sound like the typical Weatherby owner or others who like to buy expensive guns. They think just because they paid big money for their firearm, it's the greatest thing under the sun and nothing else can compare. I've got some news for you. Plenty of guns out there that cost a fraction of what the Weatherby does that can shoot just as well or better.
-
OK, so if it's a .243 win caliber, why must it be in a Weatherby rifle for a 9 year old? I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that, although I have a hunch that I know what it is.
-
Are you suggesting these for a 9 year old?? I would hope not. I think it's a tricky proposition setting a 9 year old up with any deer capable rifle. I understand that the key to get youngsters to like hunting is to start them early, but I don't know if 9 years old is a good age for deer hunting. I myself might take a 9 year old rabbit or squirrel hunting with a .22, but I don't know if I would trust them with a rifle or any weapon on deer. A .243 will get the job done in the hands of a good shot. Have a 9 year old make a mediocre shot and you've got a lost deer for sure. Not to say that a 9 year old could handle a more potent caliber either. Just my opinion on when starting them young might be too young.

Hunters siding with Antis....sickening
steve863 replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
Very well put, Culver! Plus, I think for most hunters their very nature is to shun the public spotlight. We tend to not trust much of humanity and for darned sure any politicians who in most every case would't think twice about selling their own mothers for a vote. Our entire being is to go into the woods and blend with nature and forget about the nonsense of the everyday world. Most of us realize we won't change many peoples minds about our pastime, thus we just keep to ourselves and don't get involved with any organizations. Way more things important to us in life than argue with people who surely will never understand. -

OK, you hate liberal thinkers, but are they the only ones responsible for this law still being in effect in 2011?? Lots of bashing of the HSUS for their support of it today, but where were hunters in prior years to try to get it repealed?? I am sure plenty of hunters tried to get it repealed in past years, my question is why wasn't it and who was responsible for not letting it get repealed? As I said before. Liberals are not the only ones to blame here. -

You can call the people back in 1873 whatever you want. Why are we now in 2011 and the no Sunday hunting rule is still in effect? I just can't imagine that this is the first time someone proposed lifting this no Sunday ban in PA. I highly doubt the HSUS was the major player behind any prior efforts to stop the no Sunday hunting ban from getting lifted. -

One would think that by 2011 hunters would have already done something about this idiotic, remnant from puritanical times law that doesn't allow Sunday hunting? From what I read the law has been in effect since 1873. Sure now you have the left wing Humane society trying to keep the ban on Sunday hunting for self-serving reasons, but we can't forget that the right wing religious zealots were the ones who implemented the ban in the first place and have done their damndest to keep the ban alive to this day. We really didn't have these left wing groups until the 1960's. One would have thought that something could have been done about this law well before the 60's? Both sides are pretty screwed up in my opinion, and blaming one side only is not looking at the whole picture here. -
Jesus have mercy! I was hoping you wouldn't post a picture and then you post a video!! Playing that accordion bare chested must be a bit rough on those chest hairs??
-
Hopefully the camera lying on the dresser drawer next to his bed doesn't snap pictures of the nurse coming over to change those depends. Well, anyway I hope he doesn't post those pictures on this forum as examples of how good the camera works! I think most people would prefer to see a deer's butt over Eddie's. LOL

I don't know. Putnam county seems pretty built up and suburban these days. I can't imagine too many people having a lot of access to property there, or own much property since it's become very suburban, thus you won't hear much talk about it

So how many hunters hunt these specific predicted rut dates, and yet don't see anything anyway?? Was a study ever done of that? One could hunt these specific dates and come home empty handed, and then hunt a day well away from these predicted ruts and see rutting activity all around you. It's all in the luck of the moment at the particular location one is in. The more one hunts, the better ones chances. No scientific theories really needed for any of this.
-
I would like to introduce myself then, as the first who HAS had good luck with several Remington firearms. Your Brownings are no doubt fine guns, but they surely aren't the only guns out there that will get the job done and outlive the owner with the littlest of care.
-
I just love reading all these theories. Exactly why are any theories even needed for this? We all know that the brunt of the rut happens in the first 3 weeks of November. That is all we really need to know. That anyone can pinpoint it to an exact date is all baloney in my opinion. The first good cold front in November gets them going, and that is all anyone really needs to know about the rut in my humble opinion. Deer screw around just like people do, which is when the opportunity presents itself and when they feel like it. For anyone to think they know the exact day and minute it will occur is voodoo science at best. But then again, isn't most of deer science? LOL

Yes, I don't know anything about his unit that is why I am asking. I would hope that those units that give very few or NO DMP's out wouldn't give too many crop damage permits either. Yes, I could see a farmer having problems with deer, but if too many crop damage deer are taken out of these units with few or no DMP's available, I can't see how the herd will ever rebound unit wise? Since few or NO DMP's are given out, it must mean that the herd in general in these units are on the small side. I would hope that care be given by the DEC that they don't continue to make the herd numbers even smaller.
-
I'm not understanding something here. You said earlier that no DMP's are being given out, so how is the landowner getting them? Do landowners get DMP's even in units that have no DMP's available? If they are giving so many crop damage permits, it sure doesn't make sense that NO DMP's are being issued in this unit. Wouldn't it be more beneficial for hunters to be given some DMP's than have landowners get these crop damage permits?

You can PM Biz-R-OWorld and he will send you some links to those sites. They don't call him Biz-R-O for nothing you know. LOL
-
That a boy! Hopefully it's not a site where they show the chubby ones doing it! LOL
-
Just go to a porn site and I'm sure they will leave you alone. LOL

Would you expect anything different when me and Doe post to a thread???
