Bloomberg Lying Again!
steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Is anyone really all that naive??? You really believe that all these wonderful ideas for new gun controls have anything to do with cutting gun crime? You apparently think that each additional gun-owner harrassment law when added to the huge volumes of existing gun laws already clogging up law books is going to be the silver bullet that eradicates the use of guns in the commission of crimes .... lol. Since you obviously haven't figured it out yet, let me clue you in that the anti-gun crowd has one, and only one, objective. That is to eliminate the private ownership of all firearms. It's really that simple, and you apparently are a naive, unsuspecting partner in that cause who thinks that anti-gun forces can be appeased by each and every new concession made to their cause. I'm sure they truly appreciate your support. Typical response from types like you who think the sky is falling. Without compromise in life nothing gets done. Of course you guys think compromise is giving in completely. If you didn't already realize it, we have more gun violence in this nation than any other civilized nation. You guys can do the math to why this is so. Everyone in this country doesn't own guns or really wants to. It is up to you guys to convince the rest of society that supposed law abiding gun owners don't one way or another sell guns to criminals. Like I said before the gun manufacturers don't sell guns directly from their plants to the bad guys. It's "legal" purchasers from gun shops and gun shows that end up selling guns to them. If we don't take measures to try to reduce this problem we will ALL be suspect to those who don't own guns. Good luck in convincing them with your bullheaded ideologies. -
Culver can the Leupold twist on rings go on the cantilever barrel which has grooves for weaver style rings? I thought the twist on rings need to be put on bases that attach to an action of a rifle?

Bloomberg Lying Again!
steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Actually the crime rate in NYC is a lot lower than many places in this country. Bloomberg and Guiliani before him can be credited for this. A lot of people think there is mayhem in the streets there, but that is far from the truth. The city is as safe as any city in this country if not a lot safer. Murders per capita are actually a lot higher in many smaller communities in this country. -
Bloomberg Lying Again!

Yes, I think a NICS check could be done without an FFL dealer in this computer age. You guys don't because you don't want to even give it a try or think of ways the system can be improved. You think everything is an infringement of your rights and will fight any common sense ideas. Because of this we will all lose our gun rights one day. And by you saying that "Bloomberg is doing a great job in educating criminals on how to get a gun", it sure looks to some of us that you are indeed admitting that there are some real serious problems with gun shows in this country. So again, exactly what was Bloomberg lying about? -
Bloomberg Lying Again!
steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
So what's the lie here? I will agree that maybe Bloomberg should concentrate on running NYC and not worry about other areas on NYC's expense, but it has been proven time and time again that guns used in crimes can be traced back to gun shows in many instances. What you boys don't seem to understand is that Glock, Ruger, S&W, etc. don't put guns out on the black market so that criminals and felons could get them. They are brought legally to the market and then these supposed legal and law abiding gun owners sell them to people who are not so law abiding. There is definitely a breakdown somewhere where the supposed law abiding are feeding guns to criminals. Gun shows are one of these places. -
Same here. I see something that might be a deer, but then it could be just brush. Not a clear enough photo to find things in.

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Why do you think one would need to go thru a dealer and that a fee is even needed? I surely didn't say that. In this computer era, where we could look up sex offenders that live in our neighborhoods I couldn't imagine that a simple system of who is ineligible to purchase a firearm couldn't be put together quite easily. -

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Good honest post, you are probably smart for doing that. I just find it interesting how the conservatives here can't begin to handle the idea that there are other hunters out there with different ideas about the NRA, politics, etc. To them it's more like you're an American ONLY if you think the same way they do, otherwise it's open season on you all year around for being a traitor. Quite sad actually. -

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Exactly where do you need an FFL dealer or a $100 fee for a private sale?? Surely not on any rifles or shotguns. Not even in NYS do you need a background check of a purchaser of a rifle or shotgun in a private sale. Handguns are different, but plenty of handguns get transacted, even at gun shows in many states with NO questions asked of the purchaser. -

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And of the gun-deaths committed in NYS, NJ and similar areas, most of the guns used were brought in from other states where they are as easy to purchase as candy. Once a gun is purchased legally (this means a background check of the purchaser in a gun shop), it then in many jurisdictions in this country can be sold privately without any questions asked of the next purchaser. That is where the trouble lies and how guns end up falling into the wrong hands. We have plenty of gun laws, but NO uniformity state by state in this country. Until we do guns will continue to fall into the wrong hands and all honest gun owners will be held suspect by the rest of society because groups like the NRA are letting this kind of stuff continue by fighting any common sense ideas to keep guns from falling into the wrong hands. It ain't rocket science here boys. You don't want to compromise even a little, they will not trust any of us with them then. NOTHING in life gets done without compromise, why should this issue be any different? The NRA folks keep touting the 2nd amendment and how great the founding fathers were. Well most of them were slave owners also if you didn't know, and how are we to know for sure that if they had the type of weaponry that is available today that they would have not thought differently about guns? No one knows for sure, but don't think for a minute that their thinking wouldn't have been different if they lived in today's world. We today get disgusted with the thought of slavery, don't we? Yeah, so why do we think they were correct in everything else they said and did 240 years ago?? I can't expect that many here have given this much thought from the stuff I read here, but just throwing it out anyways. -

I am sure quite a few here would qualify as borderline mentally unstable. Most especially those who seem to be in a constant state of panic and turn to look behind their shoulders every two minutes thinking the boogey man is out to get them. -

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And how are you 100% certain that the gun shop owner is a member? Just because he has a sticker pasted somewhere? Maybe they were members for a year 20 years ago, got their sticker and never paid them a dime in dues ever since. I have no doubt I have some NRA stickers lying around. Maybe I will paste one on my forehead so I can enter your shop! LOL -
Wow, you even got the box! Super good deal in my opinion for a nice gun. I was a bit worried about that choke when you mentioned it the other day. I hope you can get it out. What in the world did he do to get it stuck like that?

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
And since you like to talk about constitutional rights, where in the 2nd amendment does it say that one needs to be a member of ANY organization to own a gun? Is that the militia part? LOL You obviously are holding yourself out as an elitist gun owner. In your opinion people shouldn't even be allowed to own a gun unless they conform to your rules. -
Looks like the NRA can lose.
steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This has got to be the biggest crock I have ever heard! So someone who might be new to the shooting sports can't even enter a gun shop to possibly buy a gun, learn or practice at a range, have repairs or adjustments made by a gunsmith, or even buy ammo to shoot with if they don't bow down to and pay the dues to your beloved organization?? Talk about un-american authoritarian and ANTI-gun ownership type of tactics. You surely win the prize here with such BS! -

steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Just a brief word about the notion that all members of any advocacy group must "agree with everything" that that group says. That is quite an unrealistic requirement that is destined to make all organized representation impossible. Nothing will please the anti gun factions more than to realize that the majority of gun owners demand such an impossible requirement. Because I assure you that they are not inhibited by such ridiculous notions. No, I don't have the notion that all members MUST agree on everything, but it is pretty obvious to me that the MAJORITY of gun owners have enough issues with what the NRA touts to not become members. If they all had such strong feelings that the NRA is our only saving grace to gun ownership in this country, they would no doubt join up also. -

Good for you Wildcat! Good to know that there are others here who don't buy into their stats without question. Of course there must be MILLIONS more like us out there having the same questions since the NRA membership is so small in comparison to total gun owners. LOL Of course the NRA members here won't accept this and will tell us that we are all cheap and that they are paying our way. LOL They can think what they wish! -
Looks like the NRA can lose.
steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What motivations? Some of you just can't accept that the MAJORITY of gun owners in this country don't agree with everything the NRA says. If they did, I have no doubt the NRA would have 30 million members or more. What is so difficult to understand here? Are we all supposed to be clones and all think the same? I for one was a member for 15 years, until one day I asked myself why? I surely disagreed with a good many things they said and most of all don't buy into their theories that the easy availability of guns has no direct effect on crime rates in this country. We as hunters surely know that it's a whole lot easier killing a deer with a gun than it is with anything else. The same goes for killing humans in my opinion. Buying a gun in many parts of this nation is as easy as buying candy and many end up in the wrong hands thru perfectly "legal" transactions. I am not convinced this doesn't have a direct effect on crime rates like the NRA claims. Thus I am no longer a member and never will be again. -

Questioning my loyalty to what? Believing what YOU think everyone in this country should believe? You can't answer a simple question and then you call others fools and morons. I guess I am a fool to expect any more from you! LOL -

steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
No I have no desire to be a spokesman here for anyone. You however are still not giving us any ideas of what should be done. Those that actually DID commit the act were dead on 9-11. Others involved behind the scenes were caught or killed, while the apparent mastermind of it all Bin Laden has still not been caught. We went to war in two nations because of 9-11. So what else do we do that we already have not? How else should they be held accountable? You were the first to say anything about wanting accountability here. Simply condemning every muslim is not what we need. You are stooping to the same level as the most fanatical muslim if you do. -
Looks like the NRA can lose.
steve863 replied to jimbodwb's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You should also be amazed at yourself for actually thinking that ALL hunters think exactly like you! LOL There would be way more than 6 million members then if they did. By the way where do you come up with 6 million NRA members? I think this number is being inflated substantially here. From what I heard it's closer to 4 million. -

Sorry, but you boys started the bitching about muslims, so it is in your corner to come up with some. Simply bitching just for the sake of bitching without any real solutions or ideas here won't get you any real footing with many on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. -

steve863 replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
So if you saw cheering with your own eyes, what do YOU suggest the solution should be here? You think our nation is in jeopardy because of muslims, so exactly what should be done? Telling us that YOU are a patriotic, America loving, "God Bless America" singing person while others aren't is honestly not enough of an answer here. -

Sorry for not being politically correct. I guess he was just misguided liberal. I worked at ground zero and I can't forget who were responsible and why we just don't call them out. But we don't want to hurt anyone feelings. Get real!!!! Only one group was responsible and you can't twist the facts, civil discussion or not.Dave I am curious as to your solution? How should we call them out? What else do we do? We already went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan because of 9/11. Was everyone in the Islamic faith responsible for 9/11? Not putting words in anyone's mouth like I have been accused, just hope for some honest explanations here. Well Steve lets hold the Islamic community accountable for not condeming the acts committed my people of their faith. After the 9-11 attacks they were celebrating in the streets in our country and abroad. So there are people in this country who agree with the Islamic philosophy . And only Islamic's were involved and responsible for attacks here and abroad. We can call them out by not letting them build a Mosque in the area around the World Trade Center. Where is their compassion for the victims of their attacks. No, they just want to use our laws against us and shove a Mosque under our noses. Dave You surely have the right to your opinion on the mosque issue. Others with differing opinion do as well. I don't know about Islamics celebrating in the streets in this country. I surely didn't see any such celebrations. The vast majority of Islamics came to this country for the opportunity for a better life just like everyone else who immigrated here. I honestly have not seen the ones living here wreck nearly as much havoc as some would make us believe.
