  1. I will give the guy credit for finding it and actually putting his tag on it. I guess for a big buck like that, most hunters would use up their tags, but for smaller ones I doubt many would if the season was still on. Legal or not many would probably saw the horns off and leave the rest of the deer in the woods. Did he actually drag out the smelly carcass after 6 days? Where do you then dispose of it? I do also agree with many here that say that the hunt would not be entirely considered a success if edible meat could not be salvaged. I hunt and kill for meat most of all. If something I shot at and hit ends up dead and I can't eat the meat, the hunt will surely not be a success in my book.
  2. I think the battery powered one didn't have those sharp edges.
  3. Haha ok, yes bubba spotted bens Tritronics collar and asked if it was ok to dial it up to get a better stimulation. Thanks for adding that Doe. I'm sure the collar was just one of many electrical and battery operated devices those fellas use for various stimulating experiences. I think I saw something in one of the hunting magazines recently that looked like one of those butt-out deer gutting tools. Only this one had batteries.
  4. Hey Doe, nothing about electric dog collars? I would have figured you of all people would have added them to this discussion already.
  5. Yeah, and they both liked what the other was packing and then cupid fired his crossbow (they are now legal where he lives) and they lived happily ever after.
  6. I'll say. Can't they see that we are helping them to feel better with our wisecracks? Bubba and his buddy Ben of course deserve some thanks, too.
  7. and giggled over ramrods, lubricants and battery powered socks.
  8. And when he discovered it was a magnum he was packing, well, I don't need to tell you the rest.
  9. This thread is getting better by the minute. I think someone needs to make this into a country & western song. "Bubba and Ben, they met at a shooting range and grew fond of each others pistols". LOL
  10. Who's Ben?....LOL...Sorry...I had to LOL!!! Hopefully he was a GENTLE Ben!
  11. The wine is one of the most all-natural substances that helps make that sauce. Probably way lower in fat, calories and generally healthier than anything else one might use. Since I can't think of a more organic meat than venison, I like to keep things as all-natural as possible when cooking it.
  12. I prefer to saute them in some olive oil and a bit of butter. I flour the slices and brown them for a few minutes on each side. You can add any spices you like and I add a little chopped garlic also. Once they are just about done I add about 3/4 of a glass of some good red wine. The better the wine, the better it will be. Let it all simmer for a few minutes until the wine thickens up a bit like a sauce and it's done. I rarely hear people use red wine in their venison recipes, but I think it really can add some good flavor to it.
  13. Heck, I was wrong. Before I started reading this thread I figured it was some info on one of our older members here. You know, like either Doc, fasteddie, Bubba, or one of those guys.
  14. No, you fellas can continue to your hearts delight. I do however recommend the pictured product for some of those breathe odors that seem to be creeping thru the computers of us other members who happen to be reading some of this stuff since there is little else to read here the past few days.
  15. Talk about threads that are a waste of time and words! These crossbow threads are surely it. I could care less if they were made legal during the bowseason for everyone and at the same time would never pay a cent to buy one of these contraptions for myself. And it wouldn't matter if I was fit or pronounced legally lame by some doctor. I have NO doubt that their implementation will have close to ZERO effect on hunter numbers and deer killed. Waste of breath to argue anything having to do with them in my opinion.
  16. She mentioned where she was going to place the collar on me when I was sleeping and I got scared, I now sleep with one eye open. lol Maybe she is trying to tell you that you need a bit of a boost down there? Just kidding Doe!
  17. Yeah, wives usually have some devious plans. Getting zapped by a dog collar could actually be considered getting off easy with some of them. LOL
  18. Wow Doe, why did I have a feeling you would add something good to this thread? What would have been even funnier is if one of the kids picked the remote control up and started zapping you some more while you were on the ground. LOL Or maybe the dog could have pounced on it and kept hitting the button with his paw. Now that would have been a sight to behold! LOL
  19. Hmmm, this is interesting. It looks like an Encore, but it really isn't. According to the description you can't interchange barrels on this gun like you can with an Encore. If I am going to pay this kind of money for a gun, I would want it to have the barrel interchangeability like the Encore. I'm sure it's a good gun, but it costs a bit more than I would pay for a gun that can only be a muzzleloader.
  20. I don't think it's asking too much for ALL buyers at gun shows, whether they are buying from a FFL dealer or a private person to have a background check done on them. A simple mandatory process like this would go a LONG way to prevent giving gun owners and gun shows the bad name they are getting here. It's just like hunting. We are told to keep our own in check so everyone else doesn't get a black eye for the bad apples out there. Same with the gun issue. It looks to me that we are failing on both counts. If we were somehow succeeding, society surely wouldn't think so low of us as they currently do. I guess we who DO care get the short end of the stick because of those who don't seem to give a hoot.
  21. Is anyone really all that naive??? You really believe that all these wonderful ideas for new gun controls have anything to do with cutting gun crime? You apparently think that each additional gun-owner harrassment law when added to the huge volumes of existing gun laws already clogging up law books is going to be the silver bullet that eradicates the use of guns in the commission of crimes .... lol. Since you obviously haven't figured it out yet, let me clue you in that the anti-gun crowd has one, and only one, objective. That is to eliminate the private ownership of all firearms. It's really that simple, and you apparently are a naive, unsuspecting partner in that cause who thinks that anti-gun forces can be appeased by each and every new concession made to their cause. I'm sure they truly appreciate your support. Typical response from types like you who think the sky is falling. Without compromise in life nothing gets done. Of course you guys think compromise is giving in completely. If you didn't already realize it, we have more gun violence in this nation than any other civilized nation. You guys can do the math to why this is so. Everyone in this country doesn't own guns or really wants to. It is up to you guys to convince the rest of society that supposed law abiding gun owners don't one way or another sell guns to criminals. Like I said before the gun manufacturers don't sell guns directly from their plants to the bad guys. It's "legal" purchasers from gun shops and gun shows that end up selling guns to them. If we don't take measures to try to reduce this problem we will ALL be suspect to those who don't own guns. Good luck in convincing them with your bullheaded ideologies.
  22. Culver can the Leupold twist on rings go on the cantilever barrel which has grooves for weaver style rings? I thought the twist on rings need to be put on bases that attach to an action of a rifle?
  23. Actually the crime rate in NYC is a lot lower than many places in this country. Bloomberg and Guiliani before him can be credited for this. A lot of people think there is mayhem in the streets there, but that is far from the truth. The city is as safe as any city in this country if not a lot safer. Murders per capita are actually a lot higher in many smaller communities in this country.
  24. Yes, I think a NICS check could be done without an FFL dealer in this computer age. You guys don't because you don't want to even give it a try or think of ways the system can be improved. You think everything is an infringement of your rights and will fight any common sense ideas. Because of this we will all lose our gun rights one day. And by you saying that "Bloomberg is doing a great job in educating criminals on how to get a gun", it sure looks to some of us that you are indeed admitting that there are some real serious problems with gun shows in this country. So again, exactly what was Bloomberg lying about?
